dean023 Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 A Gift to the owners - A photo message book www.gofundme.com/lcfcgift I know that this is not for everyone on here but for anyone that is interested details below Hi, Having discussed with several people including 'the birch', I am going to create a leather bound photo message book. I am asking all donors of £5 or above to email a photo (at least 2Mb in size) with a brief personal message to the owners , along with your name and where your from, town and country. The photo would preferably be you or member/s of your family with a LCFC item. (but don't worry if not) The message can be anything but anything inappropriate will be deleted and no message inserted. Bear in mind that the message will be placed over your photo, so if it's too long it may cover too much of your photo. The club have been in touch and it's looking like we are going to present this to them on the last home game of the season (7th May) so we will need all photos to be submitted by April 1st to allow the production process to be done in time. I'm also looking at producing a pdf version of the finished item for all donors to download (free) to have a look at their photo and read all the other messages. (Not sure whether this can be done yet but at worst I can scan the pages) All funds raised will go to the cost of any gift/s to the owners and then any remainder will go to a charity either Birch;s run, the foxes foundation or another of owners choice either here or in Thailand. I have decided on this as I think this will be a truly unique gift plus it enables fans from all over the globe to take part. There are a limited number of photos that we can include in one book, but if we get a over whelming response we can look at doing more than one. I'm looking to spread the word to all LCFC fan so if anyone knows of any supporter groups anywhere in the world it would be appreciated and would be nice to get some international messages Please also note that there is an admin charge applied to all donations by the gofundme site. kind regards Dean Hawthorne
Bryn Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Its not for me but at least its tasteful. This, I don't agree with the principle but if you're going to do it you couldn't have picked a better idea.
Itsthejoeker Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 This, I don't agree with the principle but if you're going to do it you couldn't have picked a better idea. What principle?
Sol thewall Bamba Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 Its not for me but at least its tasteful. Yeah, I won't be donating but fair enough, this is the only thing they'd appreciate fully I think.
Larry_LCFC Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 What principle? Giving the owners a gift. I don't agree with it either. Yes they have served us well, but they have also made a fortune and used the club to grow their own business massively which is fair enough. We have given them loyalty throughout their time here. If they do increase prices next season as has been suggested, they will go down in my estimations I'm afraid. All that said, at least the gift chosen by the OP is something half decent and something they may appreciate.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 A nice way of sharing the fans gratitude to the owners.
Bryn Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 What principle? Giving them a gift. But hey ho, if that's how people feel fair play, and the idea is good.
4everfox Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I'm sure, absolutely certain in fact, that they will really appreciate the gesture. Nice idea.
Collymore Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I simply can't believe some people don't want to buy in on this. Yes, our owners don't need an expensive gift but I think a gift like this would be invaluable to them. They strike me as the kind of people who would really be honored to receive something like this and I'd imagine they'd treasure it. Equality works both ways. Just because someone has everything money can buy doesn't mean they're less deserving of a personal gift like this. A cracking idea and I back it 100%. I'll probably buy a message my self but I'll have to think long and hard about what I want to say......
Great Boos Up Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 From my previous picture jest, it occurred to me that you can't write many words on a photo. How big will the photos be? I thought that if all just read "thanks" with name and address. How many photos per page and how many pages is the book? I doubt they will look at every page but it also occurred to me that the image is important. I'm working on mine because I feel I need to thank someone for the last 5 years of rise and glory. And compared to Mandaric/Glaziers and the rest ect.. ~ boy did we land the jackpot. I still take time to look at the names on the bricks at the KP. Thanks Great Boos Up Sileby, Leicester.
Detroit Blues Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I think there's an interesting double standard here. There are people who think we should not get the owners a gift, because to the Owner's this is just a business. Yet, some of the same people do not like the idea of Owners raising ticket prices, or Sky moving the fixtures around and treating football like it's only a business. Maybe gestures like these go to show that this football club is about more than just money. That we appreciate them as important parts of the club, just like how the owner's appreciate the fans support beyond just buying tickets and merchandise.
It'sblueupnorth Posted 12 February 2016 Posted 12 February 2016 I personally think this is a good idea, yes it may just be a business for them, but look at all they've done for us. People saying they've made a lot from us and yes they have but saying you're not going to participate in this although it's fair enough is like saying you're not going to give someone a couple of quid or a pint for helping you out just because they earn more than you. Pretty sure they'll appreciate this gesture tbh

The photo book will be A3 in size (420mm x 297mm) with a maximum of 250 pages so it depends on how many donations we get - 250 1 per page 500 2per page etc so I'm hopefull we will get most messages on ok They may not look at every photo in one go but I bet they will over a period of time
Vardinio'sCat Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Good work fella, well done for getting the Birch on board. I think Vichai and Top have been brilliant for us, some of the small things they have done have been very telling, as to what kind of people they are. Birch has already plugged it on Radio Leicester...

GaelicFox Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 Also can we speak to printer and get a price for replicas , maybe not in leather ? We could sell them as a Nice way to raise funds for somewhere like Rainbows or Loros ? Proper local hospices that will have helped hundreds if not 1000's of us at the KP. This could generate some much needed PR for a charity !! Maybe have the charity present the book and get all that free newspaper and multi media exposure ? It's a great idea , now it could be a wonderful idea if tagged to a charity and all that free PR goes to a worthy cause might also make our owners aware if local charities that need help ! I have contacts at both the above Dean if you would like to talk to them
yorkie1999 Posted 13 February 2016 Posted 13 February 2016 How much will it cost ? one donor kebab. Seriously though, having read that article on thai culture, it seems that by giving the owners time and patience to establish the club at the top of the prem and not taking the piss out of their qwerks, monks and elephants etc, is enough of a thank you.
