I saw those but assumed there was a more cunning electronic way of locking them down, but I don't think there is.

Should probably get one, imagine coming home and some cheeky sod is charging up his Tesla on your drive. "Don't mind me mate, only another couple of hours to go"

Not ideal but, if you could let me know where you live...🙂

An early challenge in EV ownership, has anyone booked car parking at Stansted Airport where they'll charge the car whilst you're away?

At Luton I've noticed an EV parking package but can't see similar for Stansted.

The battery warranty means we'll need to charge whilst we're away, which is awkward if we're away.

Why do you need to charge while you're on holiday?

The battery warranty states it must receive at least one charge every 30 days and we're away for 34.

Lots of the airport car parks offer a charging service as they do valeting etc but, at present I can't find one available for Stansted.

That's a weird clause indeed. Try checking for someone who lends a driveway near the airport. There's apps for this. I actually trust a random person more than a company to look after my car.

Apparently very common for EV car warranty and probably unusual that you'd not charge it within a 30 day period.

We'd looked at that option originally as I've used it a lot for other trips and away games etc but, doesn't really work for Stansted.

The PodPoint engineer isn't allowed into the loft due to health and safety, to run the cable from the fuse box to the garage. Therefore, they are sending us the cable to install it ourselves!

Can a real electrician help?

A real electrician would do it all, yes. An engineer is coming to wire up the charger but won't do the cable install. We've got to lay out all out for the engineer to connect. Which seems rather ludicrous.

Based on historic experience Pod Point are a bit of a tinpot company when anything doesn't go according to plan/is non standard.

Ohme on the other had were first class for my install (or. at least the engineer they comtnracted out to was) - did what I would class as a non standard install no probs

If we'd purchased our own I think the Ohme one would've been the one we'd have gone for.

First good run out this weekend, been down to Canterbury. Stopped enroute for a quick lunch and a charge yesterday. Returned today, same routine. Although only a light charge to get home. Simple. Only another 44 hours to get it topped back up now.

Anyone got or driven a Volkswagen T-Cross? My current lease is coming to an end, the T-Cross looks like a reasonable step up in size, I don’t have to drive too often for work but when I do I can be on the roads for hours so my Corsa isn’t going to cut it lol

Thought I'd go and look at cars today as I could do with a new one. Found one online I liked so popped out to have a look. First thing they say is we're closing in a minute. Ask about said car to be told one of the lads has taken it home with him. **** that. Every other place seemed to be closed, thought a bank holiday would be prime selling time for them but obviously not. What a wasted trip.

I don’t do chargers but as I understand they normally put a mini distribution board by the meter, usually outside in the brown box in modern house or under the stairs in older houses.

How come your fuse board is in the loft? Seems an unusual place for a distribution board.

The fuse board is in the hall cupboard, the EV charger is going in the garage. The cable connecting the two will go up through the hall ceiling, across the loft (bungalow) and out into the garage. Several other cables already do this, house alarm etc. The engineer isn't allowed into the loft, so we have to do the loft cable layout, the engineer will then connect the cables which protrude in the cupboard to the fuse board and in the garage to the EV charger.

It's not a big or difficult job to do, it just seems ridiculous the engineer isn't allowed to pass a cable across the loft.

Can anyone recommend any car websites/companies that buy your car for cash (and don’t skin you on the inspection)? I’m not looking to part ex as I’m moving out of the country in a few months.

My mates in the car industry reckon you get the most money selling privately but can’t really be arsed with the hassle and just want it done.

I’ve heard we buy any car usually knock a load off the value when they inspect it so just wanted to see if anyone’s got good experience with any of them?

I just looked, out of curiosity, and entered my last car's reg and mileage and it didn't fit into the car spec motorway wanted. So it's not great if you have a high mileage/older car.

Yeah, I should have said Motorway it's similar to CarWow where dealers make offers.

I guess they're not going top be keen on older high mileage cars that won't go on their forecourt

Completed agree, I can’t understand why the engineer would not be allowed into the void above.

Baffling.
