Leicester, Watford and the Community Shield

He seems to genuinely get the game as well, Not one of these who just says things for the sake of it. I've got a lot of time for what he says.

This "affecting the brand" stuff is laughable as well. I'd say how far any English club is behind Bayern, Real Madrid, Barcelona, Atletico or even PSG is quite damning. Don't blame Leicester. We've just exposed it that bit further.

Dunno, we've had some pretty budget managers in charge of our CL sides lately. If you try to play Barca at possession football where you bore a team to sleep then give it to £1bn worth of strikeforce to bang in, they will beat you-they're better at it. We play a totally different game, and it's worked against the big Prem sides-see no reason why it wouldn't against the cream of Europe.

4-4-2 on the break is the way to win the Champions League. Just you wait...

Well for a starters you are referring to Arsenal? Who might have been foolish to play like that but have still taken six points off us this season.

Second they are more patient, more methodical, have larger squads, have better players, a generally much more consistent teams than anything the PL has to offer.

Realise the last sentence is tongue in cheek but still, Against a quality European outfit I think we'd end being swept aside much the way much the way Arsenal were.

I'd back us to do as well or better then Manchester United did in the easiest group they could hope for though!

It doesn't matter who plays who. It's a friendly, nothing more nothing less. Whoever plays the match, deserves to be there. If the so called big clubs have not been good enough to get there, that's their fault no one else's. Surely every football fan should want to see other teams be successful and win things.

Surely we wouldn't be in a position to really hurt the co-efficient if it hadn't been put at risk before?

Correct it's been put at risk because English teams have been in decline for years, despite having a truck load of cash. It's a ridiculous thing to say. And irrelevant.

I can guarantee you will not find a single proper German football supporter who begrudges Hertha Berlin getting a CL place, they will be fourth seeds and will struggle, but the German public opinion will be that they've earned so they deserve it, they've had unfashionable teams in that competition for years and gradually over taken us despite that. Mainly as their better clubs have consistently done their job, ours have been getting worse and worse for years, that's their fault, not ours, and if they want to do something about it perhaps they should ****ing qualify and win it instead of being shit.

Watch Dortmund Spurs, Barce Arsenal, Chelsea PSG. That's where your points are going, nothing to do with us.

Not Arsenal exclusively by any means, and yeah it's a bit simplistic, but I do think if Man City/Chelsea played like we do they'd have had a real chance in the Champions League.

There is a deeper divide between us and Europe though, and we are a symptom of why English clubs are struggling. Big clubs in Spain/Germany/France/Scotland do not play in meaningful leagues: they are so far ahead of their league rivals that they can switch off for all but about 4 games a season, where they chuck the absolute kitchen sink at the opposition. Effectively, they are playing in a Cup, all the time.

We play in a league, and anyone can beat anyone, so even the biggest teams have to turn up every week in order to win. In contrast, most English teams cruise through most of their cup games. We're not geared to playing Cup matches, so in a knockout scenario we struggle.

I don't think it's much of a weakness-Champions League is big news for the telly, but for most fans we'd rather have an interesting league every week all season long.

Will be good to see us involved though :scarf:

It's only just grabbed my attention that we could be at Wembley watching the boys in blue.

For a youngish fan whose never experienced Wembley with City, okay it's not the League or FA Cup, what a day this could be!   :scarf:

Quick enough to slate a small team like Leicester but fails to mention the so called big teams who have embarrassed themselves I'm the champions league ,the fact we have two teams left in Europe is because one tie was an allenglsh affair .

I actually don't mind Mills most of the time, he's a decent pundit - but he's made an arse of himself here. The rise of clubs like Leicester, West Ham and Watford is exactly the reason FOR more people becoming interested in Premier League football. Where I work only the same few people talked about football each week now everyone is talking about it .Our story is the best thing to happen to Premier League football in a decade and it's not like English clubs have made much impact in Europe over the last 3 or 4 years.

Mills has been embarrassing himself over us and our players all season. Every time he's on final score he makes comments about us/them not being good enough. By full time, he's often been embarrassed even further by whoever he's on with, (even Spurs supporting Garth Crooks), and our performances/results. Then he doesn't admit he was wrong and stubbornly sticks by his wrong opinions. He's about as crap a pundit as you can get. Are you sure you're not thinking of Danny Murphy who by contrast, is actually quite good and complimentary on MOTD?

Yeah it is Joey Barton - who to be honest is starting to really come across as a great pundit, he really knows his stuff.

Do me a favour, Joey bleeding Barton? hes a thug that doesnt know shit.
