Jamie Vardy film could be in cinemas by this time next year

I don't know if it is going to be shit (highly likely), but it will be pointless why tell the story now when it is still being written?  By the time it comes out Vardy could have scored a hat-trick against  Real Madrid, or been found guilty of taking massive drugs, or pissed off all of his fans by walking out on city for a big pay day in China.

In 15-20 years time when all the autobiographies have been released, the real reason for Pearson's sacking and all the behind the scenes stuff we don't know has come out and all this can be filmed in super holographic surround screen immersive put your self in the film virtual reality then it could be worth watching, but right now they are going to try and recreate Vardy's goals when we have all the HD super slo mo footage being played on every football related advert, ident, season review, season preview etc and will continue to be shown everywhere until the new season starts. All this to tell a story which everyone with even a passing interest in football around the world already knows.

I would much rather watch a documentary on the remarkable rise from non league to legend, than the "based on a true story" reimaginings of some bandwagon jumping twat who has already proved you can't recreate the feel of a football game on screen.

Vinnie Jones seems born to play NP, he's also a decent actor imo. These candidates for Vardy role though  :facepalm:lol

On the other hand, those are the people who made Goal, so one can't expect This Sporting Life or Rocky in terms of quality :D

The choice of tagline seems obvious:

edit:

I'd imagine this as a trilogy, that seems logical. First part chronicling his life until the end of last season (Great Escape), second part about the current season (Escape to Victory), third one about European campaign (Glorious Basterd or whatever).

"Eee - I 'eard you got a trial wi' Leicester? Lar de dar - ye really think you got a chance? Don't make me laugh - you're a failure. Just like yer brother."

"I'll show you, father! I will be a famous soccer ball player and make my brother, who died of cancer two years ago, proud! And you - you'll be stuck in this hovel, growing older and more bitter - resentful of the fact that you never made it as a pro yourself..."

(DAD THROWS PINT GLASS AT JAMIE - IT NARROWLY MISSES HIS HEAD AND SHATTERS AGAINST THE FRONT DOOR)

"GET OUT!!!! Y'EAR ME?! GET OUT!!! AND DON'T EVER COME..."

(JAMIE STORMS OUT AND SLAMS DOOR)

"...back. (DAD FALLS TO HIS KNEES AND BEGINS TO WEEP)

Actual script extract.

His father is Japanese?

Be better if a decent documentary was made all the footage is already available no need to re film it

Agreed. Documentary with all the necessary interviews and footage. No need to re-interpret/re-tell the story when the truth is stranger/better than fiction.

Only things I think that will be interesting, is perhaps the dramatisation of his early years, which we weren't party to, and the depiction of the club, especially with NP (not that Ranieri isn't a character, but I'll be interested to see how we come out!).

I did think that when having my rant, but I just don't  see Vardy wanting to give full disclosure on his past until after his playing career is over.

I can't imagine the interest will be as big (outside Leicester) in 3 years.

I think it will, we still talk about that Blackburn team, and even that Norwich team that nearly made it.

We remember players like Juninho, Kinkladze, Mustafa Haji, players that lit up the league for one season or more.

Good true life sporting films are normally a long time after the event, think of Rush, Invictus, Invincible, they have just made a film about Eddie the Eagle ffs, sporting achievements endure. In 10 years when a lot of this season will just be statistical foot notes, Vardy's record will come up every time a player scores in 4 or 5 games in a row, Leicester's title success or failure will be brought up every time a smaller club comes from nowhere to challenge at the top, the greatest of great escapes will be mentioned every season until there is a better or more recent great escape to mention.

In 10-15 years time people will remember Vardy and the bones of the story, but not the details, so when that film comes out they will go and see it, to be reminded and enjoy the goals recreated in a way that wasn't possible at the time, and for a whole new generation of football fans to enjoy who were too young to appreciate at the time.

No one globally knows Blackburn or Norwich. I just did a spot check in the bar I am in. I got blank stares.

The other sport movies you mention are of global sporting events, Grand Prix, Rugby World Cup. Even Eddie Eagle was the Olympics. With the exception of Invincible, which appeals to the American audience and the largest market, where people latch on to any form of history because they truly do not have any.

That may be so, but I wasn't really thinking internationally, more nationally and with in Europe where the Leicester story has been massive, have the people in the bar you are in now heard of Leicester and Vardy?

If so they will remember the story in 10 years time, if not then they won't anyway regardless of a film.

Story's massive everywhere

The Old Dear was in Barcelona watching the Southampton game, pack of Aussies wouldn't leave her alone asking who we had signed and what had happened in order for us to go from relegation certs to title favourites.

Definitely agree with the documentary idea but I wouldn't be surprised if a documentary comes out as well but maybe an hour special on sky/bbc rather than a stand alone documentary film.

This film will probably be wank but I'll end up watching it because it's Leicester.

Exactly. They've heard of us and him now and won't in 10 years time. So cash in. Same with Europe. New stars will rise in France, Spain, and Italy.

It will be interesting in 10 years time, as would a documentary. But a Blockbuster movie now will be entertaining and make money.

Actually, despite his remarkable season at the Riverside, It's easy to forget about Juninho. Perhaps that's because Kåmark marked him out of both the League Cup final and the replay.

Unfortunately he wasn't so invisible when he came calling in an Atlético Madrid shirt.

Whether it is entertaining or not we will have to wait and see, I suspect it will be a rush job to try and cash on the current zeitgeist.

Given the proper treatment in 10 years time to re-tell an amazing real life under-dog, rags to riches story which will still be remembered would be a much better film than a shameless cash in and it would be still be very popular as everyone is currently talking about it, so they will remember it in 10-20 years time. Would it make as much money?  I have no idea but I can guarantee it would make a much better and more interesting film.
