AyewJoking Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 if lawrence is miffed its probably cos we've sent him on loan to get experience as he's a young player but then we have signed young players like gray and amartey and put them in the team.
ARM1968 Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Maybe and maybe not. Up to him to prove himself. Currently he's not.
Rincewind Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 He also goes on to say that 'he has no regrets' so that would indicate that he accepts it and knows he may have to wait for his chance. If he does well at loan clubs I am sure there may be a member of our scouting staff checking up on him and will advise Ranieri as to keep or get rid.
Donut Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If you were good enough, youd be in the team. Shut up moaning and either a) improve or b) leave to somewhere that fits your ability. Simple.
Sionnach gorm Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 As the yanks say "if it ain't broke, don't fix it". So much for the tinkerman moniker.
Vicki Vixen Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Reminds me of when Knockaert told the press that Leicester was a stepping stone. I think he only played for us once again after that.
Bryn Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 I don't know if I believe this is actually what he said at all. If he did, bye Tom. You're clearly not good enough to get in our team right now.
katieakita Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Paper talk, the lad wants to be going to the Euros to play for his country and if he was with us he would not be close to a matchday squad. The proof in the pudding is we are top and the manager clearly shows he knows what he is doing. Lots of players can feel hard done by but the bottom line is you can only start with 11 and that 11 have took us higher than we have ever been. Not a bad player but has done nothing to suggest he deserves to be close to a matchday squad. Knockaert is a better player but left and would not get into a matchday squad either, as for not giving youngsters a chance sure the likes of John Terry,Anthony Martial,Petr Cech,Frank Lampard would argue against that
ALC Fox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 "You don't win anything with kids." To be honest, young players have their place and play their part in this team. Gray was superb in the role he was given at the weekend. He helped protect the win brilliantly. But there's no point chucking in a youngster every week just because they have potential. They've got to prove every time they get a chance that that they're good enough to start and maintain a place in the side, like Kane when Pochettino was starting him in Europa League games only. Gray may well break into the starting XI next season at the expense of Albrighton or Okazaki, who knows? But an average of 28.1? That's a player's prime. It's no wonder we're doing so well!
z-layrex Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If any of you think he actually said this you don't deserve to breath oxygen.
GingerrrFox Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 If any of you think he actually said this you don't deserve to breath oxygen. You alright Tom?
Vardinio'sCat Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 Ranieri would have probably had Chilwell as his first choice left back this season if we weren't absolutely smashing the league to pieces. I think he feels a bit guilty for not being able to get him involved in the PL but how can we risk him given the position we find ourselves in. I hope we wrap it up with a few games to spare and him and Gray can get a few starts, maybe even let Iversen play as well who sounds mustard. I think you are right about this, if we had managed mid-table obscurity, Claudio could have tinkered in preparation for next year.
Stadt Posted 5 April 2016 Posted 5 April 2016 This, I bet, is a classic case of a reporter twisting his words to suit an agenda - if you have ever been interviewed by a reporter you will know how it works! Lawrence is still young and may well have potential even if he is not pulling up trees in the Championship yet - he seems to have put in some good performances and is regularly in the Wales squad. We will see - of course he may turn out to be rubbish like that kid Kane we had on loan. you're a dog, when have you ever been interviewed
Tielemans63 Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I'd imagine the conversation went a bit like this: Phil Cadden: Hi Tom, it's Phil Cadden from The Sun, mind if I ask you a few questions. TL: Er, yeah okay then. PC: Great. Firstly do you regret joining Cardiff on loan? TL: Er no. Why would I? PC: Great...and secondly, you and a few of the young Leicester lads have spent a lot of time on loan this season haven't you? TL: Er yeah I guess so. PC. Well great, thanks for that Tom. TL: Oh, okay. That's it? PC: Yep, bye .................... Tom Lawrence says no regrets at missing Leicester’s surge to PL title. Cardiff loanee claims Ranieri doesn’t give young players a chance. — Phil Cadden (@pjcadden) April 4, 2016
Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 Almost on the same theme The young guys were informed as to whether they were getting pro contracts yesterday. Abviously some that didn't but they can take heart as we have a side mostly of players who have experienced similar
Len Finsbury Posted 6 April 2016 Posted 6 April 2016 I'm another one who would rather hear this from the player himself than through some hack. I don't believe any player, unless really stupid, would say something like this. It's career suicide. The jury is still out for Mr Lawrence, as far as I'm concerned. There were moments last year when you think that maybe he could be something decent but I'd like to see more. He certainly didn't impress me as much as Gray has this year.
TheMightySystem Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 I think if he would improve his finishing he could be a good second striker as his passing and closing down is superb, as well as his dribbling. His issue is scoring. I think he scored only twice for Blackburn and is yet to score for Wales and Cardiff. He has potential but needs to work hard to get there
Thracian Posted 7 April 2016 Posted 7 April 2016 I've spoken quite keenly about youth development in the past but there's not been any real chance for either young or older players to break into the first team this season. Ranier's used about 18 players all told and there could be no better reason for that that topping the Premirship table and his first choice X1 all but picking itself through the fact of winning games so consistently, having a wonderful team ethic and pretty consistent individuals throughout. Basically there's been no vacancies. It's not been the reality just for youth players but decent senior footballers too like King, Waso and Ulloa. But any manager would be crazy to play around with a team doing so extraordinarily well. The only thing for those on the sidelines to do is to maintain their fitness and motivation in case some kind of opportunity arises. The great sadness to me is that there's no alternative football offered that enables youngsters to think their potential playing time is being wasted and this can only be bad for them and for those on the fringe of a top class carer, not just here, but at other decent clubs. Extension of Cup football opportunities has been suggested and might well be a positive step although it probably won't help lesser clubs. Chilwell's perhaps the biggest "victim" at Leicester because he looked an outstanding talent during much of his brief first team appearances but no amount of first team involvement and education on the sidelines makes up for actually playing. But maybe the club are being wise. Maybe they want to be sure that he's so involved and at ease with potential first team colleagues and our style of play, that they're making sure he'll be completely reading when he next turns out - as Sir Alex Ferguson did quite a lot at United. What would Lawrence suggest and how would he react in Ranieri's position? He's an aspiring footballer and would do well to concentrate on learning his trade before he criticises a manager who has taken our club to heights few could have dreamed about. I well understand his frustration but people maybe he needs to learn from the likes of Andy King when it comes to handling disappointment. Kingy's actually been in the team and done extremely well over this and many other years. Imagine how he feels being out of the side but he just gets on with it like the model professional he is, emphasising week in, week out, that "the team" is what matters most.
