Benguin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Surely if we are paying him 80k we can afford to match 120k, I honestly think he is worth every penny We should never be held to ransom by a player. If he wants to got, let him go and use the money to sign Walshys hidden gems. I don't want him to go but we'll end up paying 11 players over 100k if that's our attitude
one F in Fox Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 How funny would it be if he turned Arsenal down? On the other hand, how gut wrenching would it be to see Vardy on the back of an Arsenal shirt?
VLC86 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 One small rumour with one of our players and this place goes into meltdown. How much evidence is there to suggest this move is looking likely? Well practically every media outlet reporting it, many reporting it to be close. Not meaning to cover old ground here but are you an ostrich?
BMR Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Surely if we are paying him 80k we can afford to match 120k, I honestly think he is worth every penny remember we are restricted on wage increases
HankMarvin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Any one that says they are happy for him to go is talking crap, realistically how many players have scored over 20 goals in the premier league. 20m doesn't get you much in 2016, it would be a less bitter pill to swallow if it was 40 plus The chances of getting a striker that doesn't cost shit loads and settles in and bangs in the goals is quite remote. The people comparing RVP are wrong to do so, because Vardy was a late starter and RVP was always injured prone and know for his lack of pace. Vardy has a good few years at the top level if he avoids serious injury
Mezeker Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 We should never be held to ransom by a player. If he wants to got, let him go and use the money to sign Walshys hidden gems. I don't want him to go but we'll end up paying 11 players over 100k if that's our attitude Being held ransom is strong language, if the market dictates that we should pay him that amount of money we should. Its the club's fault for not anticipating his market value and paying him accordingly. The principle is basic, and you would think the leadership at the King Power would have predicted this to begin with. You can't fault anybody in the later years of his career that has not made significant amounts of money from his footballing carreer to not act on a big pay raise.
Jimothy Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Well practically every media outlet reporting it, many reporting it to be close. Not meaning to cover old ground here but are you an ostrich? Nobody said it close They said if done it'll be done quickly. Doesn't mean it's close, it means Arsenal don't want it drag on all summer.
iamafox Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Even if Vardy goes to Arsenal, Wenger will still persist with Giroud and Welbeck. Granted, they are a bigger club than we are but that shouldn't be the only reason for him to go there. Vardy won't sign for them just to sit on the bench and I'm sure he realises that.
VLC86 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Nobody said it close They said if done it'll be done quickly. Doesn't mean it's close, it means Arsenal don't want it drag on all summer. To quote a reputable journo "The Vardy deal is poised and ready to go" in my eyes that reads as it's more likely than not.
EGBFitness Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Well practically every media outlet reporting it, many reporting it to be close. Not meaning to cover old ground here but are you an ostrich? So what your suggesting is that because every media outlet has reported that means it's true!? How many transfers have been 'close' to being agreed and then nothing ever coming from it. Come on let's be real here, newspapers add shit to make a story, as far as we could know Arsenal could be interested and that's as far as its gone. If any city fan should of learnt anything from this season it's that the newspapers are always going to give london clubs greater attention/hype especially if it means putting little ol Leicester back in their place
Jimothy Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 To quote a reputable journo "The Vardy deal is poised and ready to go" in my eyes that reads as it's more likely than not. Doesn't read like it's close to me, just that they're ready to offer him a deal. Ready to go doesn't mean finished to me. Also if that "reputable journo" is John Cross, I'm not buying it. He was saying Arsenal were signing Pogba last year I think. Also thinking about this away from Leicester, how many times have Arsenal been "close" to signing but they never materialise.
Ozwin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Tonight is the night the TV money truly blew open the Premier League.
Babylon Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 To quote a reputable journo "The Vardy deal is poised and ready to go" in my eyes that reads as it's more likely than not.The only person to listen to is the man who broke it, John cross is spouting lots... Funny how he never mentioned a word on it until someone else broke it.
dylanlegend Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 His odds are 1.33 to join Arsenal but then Preki was 1.11
ian_marshall Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Wonder how much input Puma have in trying to engineer this move. Surely would be financially lucrative for them if this was to happen.
Bazly Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 "he has been playing the best football of his life, and it is almost a case of now or never in terms of whether he leaves Leicester for one of the Premier League heavyweights." From the Guardian article, is it just me or do others find it a little patronising to refer to the Premier League Champions as lightweights?
EGBFitness Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Wonder how much input Puma have in trying to engineer this move. Surely would be financially lucrative for them if this was to happen. Yeah I bet they are pulling the strings now working their magic to get a signed Nike 'athlete' to play in a puma kit!?
HankMarvin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Deal could be done by Sunday Woys banned any transfer talk once they meet up
VLC86 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 If one rogue journo suggests it Sky, BBC etc don't normally report it. Granted what could have happened is someone has jumped the gun and his agent has seen gold. £120,000 for 4 years is a massive gamble if true, not even sure we would try to match that.
EGBFitness Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 It's all media smoke to make Woy believe Wardy plays for a big team so he actually plays him in his natural position
VLC86 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 His odds are 1.33 to join Arsenal but then Preki was 1.11 Preki is off to Arsenal as well? **** this shit I'm out, bring me the razors.
Benguin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 Being held ransom is strong language, if the market dictates that we should pay him that amount of money we should. You can't fault anybody in the later years of his career that has not made significant amounts of money from his footballing carreer to not act on a big pay raise. Of course you can't which is why the phrase being held to ransom is applicable. Vardy is 29 and hasn't got a great deal of time left to earn big money so may see moving to a club offering him a better pay packet as the correct decision. We were comfortable offering him 80k in February and he was comfortable accepting, if we have to improve his wages to outbid Arsenal we are held to ransom. Mahrez could easily attract a club willing to pay 120k and could follow suit and before we know it we have 11 players on 120k a week. I'd rather we took Claudio's initiative and let players go if they want and put our faith in our recruitment team who have assembled a title winning team for less than Raheem Sterling's transfer fee.
HankMarvin Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 After winning the league I was hoping we would see some world class signings not potentially seeing our best players leave
