Kante,Vardy and Mahrez fall into the former bracket unless they produce the next form for the next couple of years.And if they do... Does that mean they retrospectively become world class at this point?

I wonder if we knew this bid from Arsenal was coming and would qualify the release clause and were resigned to losing him - but tried to get another non-clause qualifying club interested to up the price / negate the clause? I reckon this story will get more complex too - i can see Liverpool, Spurs and maybe even Man City having a sniff.

Rob1742 Posted 3 June 2016 Posted 3 June 2016 I know that just before he signed his last contract he said to people that he didn't care where he played, he would play whoever offered him the most money. Since then though he has signed a £80k a week contract and won the PL. That may mean little though so only time will tell. One thing for sure is that football at our level is a roller coaster and we are currently at the top of it.

Especially if you consider that he is due the difference in pay for what he has already accomplished for the club on the back end of his new contract. We should of given him 110k to begin with. Perhaps then we could justify a higher release clause. And from Arsenal's point of view for 20m even if he does not pan out for them, removing a significant threat from our team should be worth it to them.
