st albans fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 So would you take a job where you get paid x irrelevant of performance or one where you get two thirds of x and can earn x plus 20% if you max out completely on performance? (and you were part of a team so it's not an individual scenario where it's all down to you) I know which one I would take. It's the market people. Given our size, if we want to be performing at the top level, we had better get used to it. Buying well and then having to sell on will become a regular occurrence.
Nalis Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Not saying Vardy is defintely gone or that we are Atletico Madrid or they've done OK to replace their main strikers when Torres, Aguero, Forlan, Falcao, Costa, etc have all left in the past 10 years for apparent pastures new.
st albans fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 All the sources are saying his people have been approaching the top clubs looking for a move. Very disappointing Or they have been doing their job which is to get offers on the table to come back to our board and say - 'this is what he is worth'! If we were paying him 125k per week then his people wouldn't have been offering him around because his buyout would be too high to initiate real interest.
CupidStunt Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 All the sources are saying his people have been approaching the top clubs looking for a move. Very disappointing This doesn't surprise me one bit. Vardy strikes me as wanting to go all the way to the top. Whilst no doubt he's happy at Leicester we are not as high profile as some of the other clubs. I'm sure he was happy at Fleetwood, but he left. Same thing here. My money is on him moving
DJ Barry Hammond Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 http://www.mirror.co.uk/3am/celebrity-news/rebekah-vardy-planning-72-hour-8106128 According to this, Arsenal won't get a chance to talk to him over the weekend. Note: I don't actually spot a direct quote in the article that features the word 'sexfest' - so in truth, this is probably the Mirror implying this from a quote along the lines of "I can't wait to see my husband" after getting married and then not seeing much of him.
Claridge Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Jesus, will people calm down. How do people know his wife is trailer trash? Do you actually know her? It's so embarrassing She shagged Peter Andre and sold her story slagging of his cock to the papers . She has 3 kids by 3 different partners who will one day read the articles and have to face the kids in the playground. Now admittedly she doesn't live in a trailer but ... Now don't get me wrong, i'm not concerned about myself but 'my friend' who has a small one found the story offensive.
foxinsox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I think Vardy would get much more gametime and Champions League time with us than any rival, as will Mahrez and Kante. That is the way to tempt them to stay. It is foolish to get too far into an Auction where we bust the budget to keep our existing players. Trust the scouts and manager to do a fine job replacing anyone who goes with someone of the right calibre who wants to be here. A lot of our players are nudging 30 and will not play at this level for much longer. We need to think about replacements in the next year or so anyway.
m4DD0gg Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Christ, I'm without phone signal for 12 hours and come back to this. Sorry state of affairs that this is the first place I check before anything else! So what's the gist, is there substance behind the rumour or is this just lazy journalism? Erm do you not watch the news? All over bbc, sky etc. Hardly a football rumours special.

EGBFitness Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Reports suggest Kasper is holding talks on a £100k a week deal. Day later Arsenal enquire about Vardy and set to offer him £120k on a 4 year deal.... Vardy was highest paid player when he signed his deal in Feb for reported £80k a week, he only said a week ago or so whilst on England duty he is looking forward to next season with Leicester... Seems like dirty agent play to get client more money.

MrLuke Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Erm do you not watch the news? All over bbc, sky etc. Hardly a football rumours special. I do, but haven't been near Internet or tv over the last 12-14 hours (and have had all the beer) so this is news to me. Hence my original question.

I may be wrong by but I can remember reading smoothing somewhere that said that Vardys wage has increased to 100k by qualifying for the champions league or winning the league or something. I know that was very vague
stretch1965 Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Jeez, just read through all posts. Is the pub open yet? He either stays, gets a newer contract and become a city Legend or go to pass, pass, pass, pass, arsenal and get frustrated then regularly sent off and end up on the bench. Would like him to stay personally

Say we have 20 players in the squad on 100k per week, wage bill per anum of 104m per season (i think). 100m is the new money from sky per season isnt it?
foxfanazer Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Forgot how moronic some of you actually are. Embarassing some of the comments about JV in this thread after everything he's done for us. Some of you don't deserve our success
RowlattsFox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 Does this mean we can start calling him a diving bastard? Rather than 'clever' I'm quite positive until someone like John Percy confirms it, then I may cry. Wouldn't be surprised if it's agent talk but I hope we don't start handing out 100k contracts to everyone. The players mentioned not wanting egos to join the squad well they need to be careful they don't become the egos.

I know that was very vague I'm not too sure mate, I haven't heard anything about it but couldn't say yes or no If that is true, would he really see the benefit of a £20k a week increase to a team that doesn't play to his abilities (EG England) and could potentially become a victim of another Englishman wasted on the bench/reserve team to a 'big team' because they see him as a good back up option and probably helps them with uefa regulations
Robin JD Popley Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 I've long thought the only club that would move for him and he may suit is Arsenal, so many similarities between his and Alan Smith's rise. However, I do think this will be a bad career move given the way Arsenal play compared to us. I've long been an admirer of the passing game and Arsenal play it as well as anyone in that top bracket. Nevertheless, watching 90 mins with Roy Hodgson's England should be signal enough he won't fit that total football philosophy...well, that's the attempt anyway. No wonder his family don't like his Mrs. The alarm bells should have been ringing after how she treated her 2nd man at Oxford. This screams outside influences all over.

Yes think tv money is now around the 100m mark. I don't think every player would be on 100k but I know what your saying. The problem is the moment 1 player earns that sort of money they all want it especially if they feel they have contributed just as much. It's a tricky situation for the club to be in but it's also one that you can't deny the players to be earning the sort of money they are expecting from the season they've had.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 if he goes i just want to know who we will get 24 goals from next season .

Arsenal have adopted a different style in recent years and would rather pass the ball into the goal to be reknown as the 'English Barca' Although they have quick players in their team (granted without the ruthlessness in front of goal like Vardy) they always fail to adopt the quick breaking football with frightening pace. Vardy will struggle playing the around the box, holding up play style that Arsenal want
st albans fox Posted 4 June 2016 Posted 4 June 2016 We should lay off his wife - she might actually be in love with him ? Wierd concept I know. I often look at mine and wonder why she is here ......... the drive to get the best deal he can could well be coming from her but that's not unusual in a marriage. Most women push their men - otherwise we would just sit in front of the telly watching the footie
