Vardy

Anyone notice how the size of the meltdown is often in direct inverse proportion to the number of posts. In general, the less posts, the more the panic!  lol

All our galactico's agents will be testing the water to establish true market value, and using that to squeeze what they can out of the club. That is how these things work. And all the while, yer Arsenals will have other targets that this story is putting pressure on.

I'm not saying JV won't go, but there is plenty of posturing and double-bluffing in the market. Its best not too start throwing stones at Mrs Vardy, John Rudkin or whoever, because you will just look like a dick if it doesn't happen.

Chat shit, see it dragged up on FT later! Vardy will always be an absolute hero to me, whatever happens. Show some respect to yer main man.

Yeah I bet they are pulling the strings now working their magic to get a signed Nike 'athlete' to play in a puma kit!? lol

Don't think his boot sponsor will make much difference. They'll profit massively having him in a Arsenal shirt. One of the hottest players in the PL currently tied to a global football brand in Arsenal means serious cash.

After winning the league I was hoping we would see some world class signings not potentially seeing our best players leave

Yes the owners / management team have some big thinking to do.

Posted

I don't want him to go but he's come late to the game. He has to think of himself and his family.

He's not had that big transfer with the massive signing on bonus. £50k a week extra over a four year contract is £10 million plus. I hate to say it but that would be very tempting if I was in his position.

I would love him to stay plus Mahrez and Kante but I wouldn't feel entirely comfortable with us paying the kind of weekly wage figures I've seen mentioned tonight.

If we lose him it'll be an absolutely devastating blow, not just for us, but for smaller clubs all around. We usually reluctantly accept losing players to bigger clubs but... we stood by him when it was very easy for us to discard him and have done so on a number of occasions, and we've built our side around getting the best from him. As a result, he's delivered for us big style and the two have combined to produce something truly unheard of.

The team going for him is one who's fans and players don't have anywhere near the connection ours do. One who wouldn't play to his strengths and one who I'm not sure you could categorically say would come above us next year. Not to mention that he's always on the verge of injury yet it never seems to happen to him here - do you think the same will happen at Arsenal?

If the above can't go against the usual trend of smaller clubs stars joining bigger clubs then I think it's a truly sad scenario for the sport.

Granted his hot property right now but Nike will still own his marketing rights.

However much Vardy is a big name within our team I can't see him making too much of a splash in the pond with some of the names at Arsenal in terms of shirt sales.

The rumours are not eminating from tin pot websites. I think we have to accept that this has happened.

I doubt Arsenal would bid to trigger a release clause in Vardy's contract if he either, 1. Did not want to leave; or 2. Did not want to hold LCFC to ransom for improved terms. The release clause, if indeed it does exist, is contained in a private contract. The club, Vardy and his agent (undoubtedly) know about this and are the only parties who likely do.

The conclusion then is that Vardy and/or his agent have shared this information for either a move or to extort more money from us. Arsenal would not make the bid if they did not think there was interest. The clause in any event can only have come to their attention from one of Vardy's people.

Either way he signed a contract in Feb that evidently means nothing to him. I'm shocked that after breaking a PL record the club allowed a 20m release clause to be included. Should have paid a premium for it not to be included.

If we won't pay the ransom or Vardy is hell bent on going then that is it sadly.

If he's going to go then I hope it will be done ASAP. I cant imagine anything worse than this dragging on and then he leaves. If he goes now our replacement(s) search will begin straight the way.

Hope he sees the light and stays though.

Of course you can't which is why the phrase being held to ransom is applicable. Vardy is 29 and hasn't got a great deal of time left to earn big money so may see moving to a club offering him a better pay packet as the correct decision. We were comfortable offering him 80k in February and he was comfortable accepting, if we have to improve his wages to outbid Arsenal we are held to ransom. Mahrez could easily attract a club willing to pay 120k and could follow suit and before we know it we have 11 players on 120k a week. I'd rather we took Claudio's initiative and let players go if they want and put our faith in our recruitment team who have assembled a title winning team for less than Raheem Sterling's transfer fee.

Your 11 players on 100k was over the top, now its 120K...  lol

Riyad, NG, and Vardy are worth 6 figures, lots of other clubs would be happy to pay them that.

Kasper and Drinky 70ish, or thereabouts

30-60 for the others, depending on age, current deal and squad status.

He would flop at Arsenal. Not that he's bad, he's just not their type of player.

It's painful watching him in the England squad trying to get involved in the slow build-up. If he can't see that past the cash, then like others have said, the small amount of faith left in the game will be gone for me.

He's possibly the best player in Europe at a playstyle that Arsenal will never utilise. It's scarily obvious how unsuited he would be for them.

I don't post on here for one day and this happens.

The guys almost 30, if Arsenal or anyone else is happy to pay £20+mn for a player that age with only one good season behind then it'd be bad business not to say thank you.

You have to be ott when illustrating your point on here but anyone who thinks just paying more than what anyone offers our players is a viable business model is ludicrous. Before we know it well be the next QPR with a top 4 pay scale but a bunch of twats who don't want to play and get relegated.

Vardy ain't going nowhere, but we will have to match Arsenal salary package, which he will get thanks to his release clause. Clever move by his agent to see his market value.

Thankfully the management isn't into a bunch of mercenaries. If Vardy can make himself a few more £mn sitting on a treatment or pitch side bench somewhere then he'd be foolish not to at his time of life. It'd make for a sad ending to the Vardy movie but old footballers often fade before they disappear.

He is on a good wage , if it's not enough let him jog on

Kante is only player I would advocate seeing on silly money

Club has to keep the books balances we still have financial restrictions to watch

He is our most influential player. If he goes we lose a large part of what made us win the league this season and in most games he is the one that sets the tempo for others to follow suit. Big mistake in my opinion

It's true we won't be able to pay what others can, but I think we should show willing, as far as we can. Vardy is reported to be on 80k, so I think 100 for him, NG and Riyad is justifiable, but it is going to be difficult to stop it spiralling out of control, so I agree with your general point.

The price of success, I guess.

I think you all are overreacting

with all due respect,i dont think he has bright future in any other club,he's already 29,its not a joke.

He will stay here and become club legend(already is,but anyway)
