Bayfox Posted 12 May 2016 Posted 12 May 2016 I know being relegated doesn't make everyone in the squad shit. But can we just **** the idea of signing players who have just been relegated, right off please. Winning breeds winning. We have a winning mentality now. Let's aim a little higher or hope Walsh snr has a few more gems still to Polish.

Bunyip Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If this had been Man united or city or Arsenal just winning the title do you think for a moment any of them would be looking at any players from relegated squads ?
mozartfox Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If this had been Man united or city or Arsenal just winning the title do you think for a moment any of them would be looking at any players from relegated squads ? Nope. Leave that to Burnley (assuming there is no-one at Peterborough that interests them).
foxy boxing Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 i really don't want players from clubs that get relegated, much better to have players with that winning mentality not scrapping at the bottom.
Tuna Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Yeah signing players from relegated clubs. They're all crap. Remember when Newcastle signed Demba Ba from West Ham when they went down? Rubbish, wasn't he?
AKCJ Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 Yeah signing players from relegated clubs. They're all crap. Remember when Newcastle signed Demba Ba from West Ham when they went down? Rubbish, wasn't he? If you can point out a player who is playing as well for the relegated clubs as Ba was for West Ham then i'll be amazed.
Gerard Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 If you can point out a player who is playing as well for the relegated clubs as Ba was for West Ham then i'll be amazed. Nothing wrong in picking up players from relegated clubs as they should be judged on their individual merits not by the fact they've played for a relegated side. I've yet to see anyone make a good suggestion though and I'd like them to answer the following rather than blindly giving out names: 1) How much would you pay for him? 2) What will his role and position be in the squad? 3) Whose position does he take?

The only player I can think of; Timm Klose 1) Not a lot. 2) Wasyl's place. 3) See 2.
Gerard Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 The only player I can think of; Timm Klose 1) Not a lot. 2) Wasyl's place. 3) See 2. That's fair enough, better than blindly coming out with Jack Colback or Traore, etc.

Silly. You can argue the players that have been relegated this time won't cut it and that's a different discussion but to write players off just because they've gone down lacks insight. Michael Owen had his hands on the PL trophy not long after going down with Newcastle. Sure you wouldn't say no to Andy Carroll and he was on the same squad, as was Milner. Kieran tripper has been back up at Spurs this season after being relegated last term. There are a ton of examples you could find, We're gonna need a few players that don't cost 10 million plus to bolster the squad we are in 5 comps next season.

I did say getting relegated doesn't make you shit. However it took about 6 years to drill the losing culture out this club. And in response to your examples. Yes I would say no to Andy caroll. For the same reason he didn't make it at Liverpool. We have leo if we wanna play hoof ball. But we aren't set up that way. As for Owen really? You're going with him having a major impact on that man Utd team? Tripper I actually rate. However if kyle Walker who can't defend for shit keeps you out the team then how good are you? As a post further up suggests. If man Utd, Man city etc had just won the title. Would they consider cherry picking from sides relegated. I doubt it. Maybe we should sign bassong after all he looked ok at spurs for 6 months. So let's ignore his 6 relegation. As it can't be his fault.
JayPittardBlueatheart Posted 13 May 2016 Posted 13 May 2016 I know they have been woeful as a team this season but Idrissa Gueye has made 140 interceptions (NG 152), 142 tackles (NG 165), successful dribbles 67 (NG 46) and Key passes 27 (NG 29).I know it will be impossible to replace Kante if he leaves, he is the best I have ever seen and tbh I have not seen a lot of Gueye in person, but his stats do look rather impressive and just maybe, he is the next best thing....
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Mitrovic is an idiot, wanted spurs to win the title. From Newcastle I would go for Townsend for £8 million as backup for mahrez. Maybe winaldum but not really necessary that. From Norwich would maybe consider Redmond as a backup player. From villa no one unless this guy who has more tackles than kante is any good.
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 No way should we sign Mitrovic. First of all, he's the wrong type of attitude that Ranieri always talks about and secondly he's no better than what we already have. Benitez has said he has one of the best attitudes in the dressing room? where do people get this inside information from? Apparantely our star striker used to turn up pissed, anyone would have a bad attitude at Newcastle, place is a shambles.
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Idrissa gueye from Villa. Been their best player this season, decided to check out his stats and was shocked. Only won 10 tackles less than Kante, Check out the comparison matrix, Not a typical Villa player of this season, definitely their standout. http://www.squawka.com/comparison-matrix#premier_league/2015/2016/idrissa_gueye/165/165/1098/0/p|premier_league/2015/2016/n$golo_kanté/165/165/14999/0/p#tackles_won#total
cityfanlee23 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Lascelles has been turd all season bar a few games recently (and those games have been in patches). He's no great shake. He's certainly not "going places". Did you miss the part where he played something like 4 games before benitez came in? not sure how you can say he was turd all season, he's not even played half of the games. As soon as benitez came in he started him every week and they've turned their form around. Pretty clear you don't watch football. That or you know more than Rafa Benitez. http://www.chroniclelive.co.uk/sport/football/football-news/rafa-benitez-jamaal-lascelles-great-11239586 Honestly where do people get their info from?
ian_marshall Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 He is a lazy fraud! Totally agree. Comes across as a bit of a prima donna, and seems to turn up when he feels like it. Remember 4 of his 9 goals this season came against a struggling Norwich side and he hasn't scored away from home all season.
Fox92 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Benitez has said he has one of the best attitudes in the dressing room? where do people get this inside information from? Apparantely our star striker used to turn up pissed, anyone would have a bad attitude at Newcastle, place is a shambles. I'm talking about on the pitch. Seen him twice against us this season and a few times on tv and he looks half bothered. Comes across as lazy. When we played at St James' Park he spent most of the game on the floor. He's not the type we're looking for.

He did not play us twice this season, when he did it was at Leicester not St James, so you're clearly making this up. Again, based on how many games? compared to benitez saying he can be top class for a decade? Not the type we are looking for because he spent most of the game on the floor, Okazaki done that for half a season. Benitez has come in and he's been quality every single week, he comes across as anything but lazy.
J.Lisemore Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Beside of his attitude, Mitrovic isn't that good anyway.
Fox92 Posted 14 May 2016 Posted 14 May 2016 Beside of his attitude, Mitrovic isn't that good anyway. Thank God somebody else agreed with me. Apparently though, we haven't seen him enough to judge him properly. Although that applies to every other footballer in the World apart from those at Leicester City of course, as we watch them every week.
