Bob Weasel Fox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 If Vardy doesn't win it'll be a travesty. Lets be fair, It's goal of the season by miles. This
Rincewind Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Deli's was good though. A flick by a player then a volley? Not easy. Like they said there was more to it than Vardy's which he looked up and saw the GK off his line and took a chance. That is taking nothing away from him. Great vision and thinking ahead makes a goodstriker.
Chester Dontlie Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 London voting obviously. If Mahrez's goal was nominated, the whole of Algeria would vote and easily win it for him I don't understand how Alli's goal is more special than Vardy's. It doesn't require some insane skill imo. Alli's not a patch on Worthington anyway Vardy's goal was just incomparably more epic, it required not only skill and a dose of luck but a lot of daring as well
Carl the Llama Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 I gotta say I've played football in some pretty shit teams and I've seen lots of goals like Alli's where one player with a modicum of talent makes a shit defender look stupid before scrambling the ball into the net but outside of FIFA I've not seen any like Vardy's where a shit player with no talent drops it on a sixpence into the top corner on the half-volley after the ball dropped in from one of his blind-spots.
Gary Eatfood Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Alli was the right choice. Incredible control, skill and finish. Most other seasons Vardy would win. I'm just glad that there were two Englishman in contention for the prize. It all bodes well for the Euro's.
Rincewind Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 It is a pity both were in the same season. Vardy will have to repeat it next season to show it was no fluke. Maybe on the other wing.
FireFox Posted 15 May 2016 Posted 15 May 2016 Mahrez v Man City should have been in there and won it. A great run, went past 2 defenders with some great skill, made it look easy, and then faked out one of the best keepers with a near-post goal from his weaker foot. How was Ali's goal better than that? Or Vardy's?

ARTY_FOX Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I thought matt Ritchies goal was better than alli's tbh
Thracian Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Alli's goal no more technically adept than Vardy's and wouldn't likely have even been a goal if the defender hadn't taken evasive action instead of fronting up. Vardy's was exceptional in spotting the chance to begin with, by seeing the goalkeeper off his line, by instantly judging the pace and flightpath needed for the shot to be successful and then the perfect execution. Once launched there was never a chance of stopping it. Truly awesome.
Thracian Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Spot on post. Every half-decent striker will have scored goals like Alli's but would likely never have scored one to match Vardy's.
kushiro Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 When they show Hazard's goal they never show what started the move - an absolutely stunning sliding tackle from Oscar on Harry Kane. I like to see it as a tribute to Ngolo Kante.
whoareyaaa Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I've trained with some decent teams in the past and Ali's goal is something you see players like marhez pull off in training every week, you don't see a 20 yard blind spot half volley screamer plunging into the top corner in training believe me.
kingcarr21 Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 There really were some cracking goals this season. I think anyone of them could have won. Bentekes goal was brilliant and Richies what a cracking effort. I love Martinas goal what a beautiful hit. Vardys was an absolute stunner but you cant take away from Allis goal. It was a sublime finish.
Phube Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 One way to tell who had the better goal is the commentaries for each goal. And Vardy's by every commentator was so much more exciting...
Benguin Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 I liked martinas the best, not sure the thunderbolt curveball was luck or skill but it was sublime!
fuchsntf Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 PHUBE...! Good idea for another award GOS and MEGOS Ali for the avg good ol' GOS Vardy for megos... most exciting goal of the season. Actually, I expected it, but to be honest, like every season there are many that dont even get on the short list. Lets leave it..Alis goal was a damn good goal. With Vardy we are just using our bias card, which would of pipped it, for most of us.
Haydos Posted 16 May 2016 Posted 16 May 2016 Every half-decent striker will have scored goals like Alli's but would likely never have scored one to match Vardy's. Other way round mate, although it's close I can see why it's gone to Alli. Everyone's twatted the ball at some point in their life and it's gone flying. Not everyone's shown the touch, composure and the connection that Alli did and you're being silly if you can't see that.

Shearer and Murphy are more qualified than us all anyway and saw Alli as the clear winner.
