I think it's mostly money isn't it, clearly Villa and Albrighton had different valuations of what he should be taking home every week, that is all, but if a football club does not want you at a football club they don't offer you a contract they just release you.

i edited my post but it looks like he wasnt offered a deal at villa after all so my original point stands...

Marc Albrighton has revealed he was told he would be offered a new contract at Aston Villa, prior to his move to Leicester.

Albrighton, who was released by Villa in May 2014 after 16 years with the club and joined the Foxes that summer, will be playing Champions League football next season - rather than plying his trade in the Championship.

"I don't know whose decision it was - manager, chairman or the chief executive. At the time, they must have thought they could have got something better.

"It's worked out for me. I've come here and got a new lease of life. It's been the best thing, to leave, as I was getting a bit complacent. I'd been there 16 years and it gets to a point where you have to go your separate ways.

"The offer was on the table here, and as soon as I found out the contract wasn't there at Villa, this was the club I wanted to be at. It's taken me on a bit of a journey.

Am I the only one who is a complete mixture of sheer excitement and worry??

Do we think he can replicate his goal scoring in the Premiership? In any case, incredible times.......

Must have been a miscommunication somewhere as if the club knew he was going to Paris, surely they would have done it there rather than sending him to Italy ?? Maybe they assumed that because Italy is closest to Algeria, booked it there.

he is learning about the way LCFC do stuff early in his employment !!

Just arrived? Is Bologna the only part of Italy that's somehow ten hours ahead? Why is it pitch black?

And where people wear winter coats and scarves at 2 in the afternoon in summer.

As an Algerian I would like to thank the Sporting fans in here for the support of their player... I followed Slimani since day 1 to Sporting and watched every single game, cheered and was moved by every goal (Note that Slimani's goals not just balls in the net but their timing and decisiveness what made them so Awesome. How many last minute goal he got that earned Sporting 3pts and how many of those what apear simple goals gave Sporting the spark to fight and get results) was moved by the unconditional support Slimani got from Sporting fans and I am sure Slimani will never forget Sporting and with consider that team home.

I am glad we are here together all behind Slimani and Leicester wishing succes to Slimani, Leicester and Sporting alike. Get in Leicester...Go Sporting!

Or because the flights were better / quicker to Italy going VIA Paris... I'd imagine there aren't that many flights a day from Algeria to Italy. And the reason it's there and not Paris because we have a load of backroom Italians who probably have people they trust out there.
