No idea what they offered him tbh, can't of been that great as he turned it down lol but the point still stands he was offered a deal therefore not released it was his choice to walk away and find a better deal. Ridiculous management by Aston Villa as he was always steady for them.

His choice to walk away in the same way it was Pearsons choice to walk away the first time... He may of made the decision but you can tell when you're not really wanted...

Well I dunno not really, if Villa didn't physically want him they were under no obligation to offer him anything he was at the end of his contract, Pearson was a little different.

Needless to say the undervalued him, and as I said they made a big mistake he was a good player for them.

Unrelated... Sunderland are about to sign N'Dong for a record fee. Giving them a central midfield of Gooch N'Dong.

Coincidently, my new team name in fantasy football.

My first fantasy football team many years ago included David seaman and mark stein. I hilariously called it 'seaman steins'.

part of it is about feeling wanted. Villa will of known what wages he was capable of commanding ( and was probably even told by his agent what he was being offered) so to offer something significantly lower is a bit of a slap round the face isnt it? you have to remember he was on a young pros wages and had just broken into the first team of a prem club and holding down a regular spot so would of been due a HUGE increase in comparison to what he was on..

EDIT: looks like he wasnt offered a contract after alll. which then makes my original point valid..

Marc Albrighton has revealed he was told he would be offered a new contract at Aston Villa, prior to his move to Leicester.

Albrighton, who was released by Villa in May 2014 after 16 years with the club and joined the Foxes that summer, will be playing Champions League football next season - rather than plying his trade in the Championship.

T

Albrighton appreciates his "shock" exit almost two years ago was clearly for the best, but has sympathy for his mates at Villa Park, with many non-playing members of staff set to lose their jobs.

"It was a shock (to leave)," he said. "I was led to believe I was getting a contract there.

"I don't know whose decision it was - manager, chairman or the chief executive. At the time, they must have thought they could have got something better.

"It's worked out for me. I've come here and got a new lease of life. It's been the best thing, to leave, as I was getting a bit complacent. I'd been there 16 years and it gets to a point where you have to go your separate ways.

"The offer was on the table here, and as soon as I found out the contract wasn't there at Villa, this was the club I wanted to be at. It's taken me on a bit of a journey.

I'm going to ask again... anyone any ideas why Bologna? Or is it just the first place we could find a private hospital willing to do a medical at short notice lol

Just arrived? Is Bologna the only part of Italy that's somehow ten hours ahead? Why is it pitch black?

Looks inside to me? I dunno!

I think it's mostly money isn't it, clearly Villa and Albrighton had different valuations of what he should be taking home every week, that is all, but if a football club does not want you at a football club they don't offer you a contract they just release you.
