Sampson Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Breaking up our back 5 would be insane. It's so well balanced and perfectly co-ordinated and brings out the best of all 5 individuals (we saw how lost Fuchs looked outside it in the Euros) - and they were the best defence in the country last season once they got together (after Simpson and Fuchs came in for Schlupp and De Laet in October). I still feel like we could have a decent season next season if we keep our back 5 together, as we could grind out enough 1-0s even if some our attacking threat is weakened. We should do what West Ham did with Payet and say we'll laugh off anything below £70mil or something.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Good post MerseyBlue. No doubt in my mind Everton are a bigger than we are, historically. Of course, we're by no means a small club and far from it. Over 7 years our club have gone from strength to strength & have been very successful, consistency is key now though. Like Sharpe's Fox said, Everton have been in the top level of English football for a very long time, so you're an established big club in the PL I'd say. I feel we are at a stage now where we want to cement ourselves as a top side in the division so - high league finishes, being European competitors, winning cups and having all that comes with it (i.e bigger fanbase, bigger stadium). MerseyBlue, Schmeichel is highly important to us, his attitude/approach to football & quality of keeping is vital to us so we're lucky to have him IMO. I'd have thought he'd stay given we're in the Champions League and is the number one regular at Leicester, but like you mentioned unless he's been told he's longer first choice here, then that would ultimately change the deal into looking more likely a move away. I can't see it personally, I hope he stays.
dpjfox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Kaser is one of the players id expect to be talking collagues out of moving, always seems happy here and im sure is looking forward to CL,but in all honesty can he be replaced?... yes
MerseyBlue Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Everton have been in the Prem since its conception, 3 times longer than us. We have still achieved more than them in that short time. You have, you finished above us once and in doing so, quite rightfully won the league. You could say exactly the same thing about the likes of Liverpool and Tottenham, You deserve all the plaudits for this achievement. The challenge now is to consistently finish above us over the coming seasons (and of course all the other top clubs). The next few years will be very interesting, whatever happens.
lestalee Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 In the Sunday Sun newspaper saying Everton could direct their attention towards Rui Patricio of Sporting Lisbon wants to come to the EPL ,6 mill bein quoted either way if Kasper was to bog off to Everton Rui Patricio is a player we should be looking at !..
Webbo Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 We've signed 2 keepers in the last 12 months. If he did go would we buy another?
Soar Fox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 We've signed 2 keepers in the last 12 months. If he did go would we buy another? Yes.
Webbo Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Yes. If a German international isn't good enough to play in Kasper's place, why did we sign him?
Soar Fox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 If a German international isn't good enough to play in Kasper's place, why did we sign him? If Zieler became number one I'm guessing we would sign a new number 2. Hamer doesn't seem rated much by our staff considering he hasn't played for us since January 2015.
Guest Mee-9 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Lets just sell every ****er. We won the league, who cares.

Soar Fox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 We signed that Danish goal keeper earlier this year iIrc. He's only 17/18 though isn't he. Doubt we'd risk putting a young lad like that on the bench for the first team. If Kasper was to go someone like David Marshall from Cardiff would be a good replacement, as I think Zieler would become first choice.
Clever Fox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 The danish lad was signed as one for the future. Our top two were Kasper and the German, both I expect hoping to be number one. Kasper will start no. 1 and rightly so but I wouldn't rule out the German keeping him on his toes.
FireFox Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 There is still that Portuguese guy Mika who we could buy as our backup.
Foxes1 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 Everton obviously need a goalkeeper as they were linked with Joe Hart a couple of weeks ago, have they given up on that.
The Doctor Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 If a German international isn't good enough to play in Kasper's place, why did we sign him? Schwarzer is a) about ready to draw his state pension, b) shit and c) has been released. Iversen is a kid - we had absolutely no back up to Kasper until we signed Zieler. Regardless of whether he's good enough to replace Kasper we'd still need another keeper.
yorkie1999 Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 The titanic was a big ship once, and that came from liverpool.
filbertstreet Posted 17 July 2016 Posted 17 July 2016 if he goes I won't boo him but I'll tell him he's shit every time he takes a goal kick
fox_favourite Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 I'm starting to think that this story is just based on guess work. It's clear Evertons priority is a keeper and the press are just being lazy and adding to the transfer witch hunt that seems to be incapsulated our club at the moment. I can't see him going there, yet. I think he'll give us a year and then move on if we're not in Europe next season. He's been part of the rise, and he would be nuts to move now. One of the last left from the Sven legacy. Best thing that Sven did was to spend £1m or so on him.
weller54 Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 Massive loss if we lose kasper. Get his contract sorted please!!!
Guest Col city fan Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 I don't want to lose Kasper for one minute, but Ron Robert is a very good keeper. If Kasper leaves, Zieler would not be a worry.
crisp packet Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 How is it every body has complete faith in a German we haven't seen play? Because he's won the World Cup ? He didn't play ?!?! He was part of the squad? Not that he is at the min eh? keep kasper at all costs !
Beliall Posted 18 July 2016 Posted 18 July 2016 I could play in goal for FC leicester with Huth and Morgan blocking every shot
