Everton plan Kasper Schmeichel transfer

Recommended Posts

100k per week for 5 years....valuable player but not worth that much as, hopefully, given the quality we've seen so far of Ron-Robert Zieler Kasper will be spending a lot of time on the bench. It should dampen Evertons desire to sign him next transfer winow though....

Completely disagree. We shouldn't be rewarding players with huge contracts just because we won the league. As already contacted players its their duty to try and achieve as much as possible for the club. If anything financial reward should be based on targets and given in the form of bonuses. The pride and glory of winning the league should be enough  - contacts should be offered purely based on the players value and whether that adds value to the clubs future endeavors. Doesn't really make sense to hand out contracts based on a collective team/club achievement.

The genie came out of the bottle decades ago mate. You won't get it back in now.

Either they think Kasper is going to be number 1 for next 5 yrs and Ron is going to happily sit on bench . Personally I think Ron has looked very decent and could push schmeichael all the way. So are we going to have a 100k a week goalkeeper sitting on bench??? And if Ron does get number 1 he is going to want the same surely

Your dreaming of course.

Ffs why? He isn't worth anywhere near that. Not even in top 5 keepers in PL let alone top 3. Nobody would have actually come in for him.

We're only going to be Champions for this season. Next season we'll be at best a top 6 side with a load of players on 80k a week or more. I hope Vichai and the Board have done all their sums and these costs are all manageable.

Lloris, De Gea and Courtois. Without a shadow of doubt all are better than Kasper. He's probably 4th best going off last season.

Lloris and De Gea are both better.

But Courtois is on Kasper's level (obviously Courtois has age on his side).

Nice to know that the club has higher ambitions than you.

No chance is Kasper going to be No.2. Zieler is a quality back up but no more....I have watched him in Germany and for us briefly ....he is not a patch on Kasper. Top draw keepers are few and far between ...we have one and he will improve plus to get an upgrade would be £20m+ so do the maths.....it's an investment with little risk plus we can build around him

They really don't, my comments are based on the club's lack of ambition not my own.

And paying players wages far above their value on long-term deals isn't what ambition is.

Disagree, in 12 months time it's likely that we won't be champions, but everyone will still be sat on their 'champions' pay packet for another 3 or 4 years.

Absolute drivel......fact that the owners do have real ambition....they have created a high growth business ....they play sport at a world level and have already stated that they would try to deliver top 6 football.  Last season excweed their timing expectations  but not their ambition. I can't say how but I know they have revised their plans and already huge changes inside the club to grow are being implemented.

Go back 15 years and Chelsea started like this ....why cannot a midlands club which has captured the world's imagination not become a top top club......

Paying the going rate for proven quality is exactly what ambition is.

If we want to be able to continue to be a side that challenges for the title or gets into the Champions League then we need to keep the players that got us there. We'll have to pay good wages to keep those players because we're not a sure thing, yet.

Nobody could say, after last season, that Kasper isn't good enough.

100k a week for Kasper? If anything I think he's in dreamland

I expect he is, club clearly feel he's worth it and they must feel they can afford it, so I don't see an issue.

Football has gone mad, that's been well established for the last few years, no point in trying to work it out, just enjoy it.

Another with poor ambition.

Why won't we be Champions in 12 months time?

It might be unlikely right now, it'll be impossible if we lose our best players to sides willing to shell out the going rate.

Chelsea spent massive wedge year after year.

we seem to be consolidating what we have and signing players to massive contracts.

i think 5 years is risky on that sort of money

And you presume our owners will not do likewise.

£5m a year for 20 players is £100M. .....TV money alone irrespective of worldwide merchandise sales ......worst case we do a a Southampton where we sell one player a year for £30m to subsidise 6 players in the squad.

I for one prefer to reward the players we have who are top drawer and build on that rather than spend £20m on a new keeper who a) may not exist b) may ask similar wages c) may not be available or want to join.

It is ridiculous wages but it's the going rate and we will be able to get our money back if we needed too. ..believe in the owners they want to make this club bigger than you can imagine .....and I actually believe they may do it!!

****ing hell that's a lot of money. I understand Vardy and Mahrez getting that much but Schmeichel will probably be on the bench watching Zieler by the end of next season.

No it isn't. Chiefly because you've just decided in your own head that 100k a week is the 'going rate for proven quality' - an absolutely meaningless cliché. How many players in the league do you think are actually on that much? And how many players did we have on 100k a week when we actually did win the league?

Kasper isn't good enough to warrant 100k a week and you telling me I can't say that doesn't make it so. You'd want one of the best keepers in Europe for that much. Winning the league doesn't automatically make you 'proven quality'. Look at some of the shite that have picked up medals with Man U over the years. Kasper was shit in 14/15, and had a good season last year, and a lot of that is down to being heavily protected against anything except long-range shots and reflex saves, his 2 strongest attributes.

We've already let the one player who put us decisively into the top bracket leave for a relative pittance (How was that for ambition?). Without Kanté, we are a different team. We can't set up in the same way and we can't be as solid defensively.

You telling people they have 'poor ambition'. What does that even mean? That we don't want Leicester to be the best? Or don't think we can be? Absolute nonsense.

We all want and think the same things, we just don't agree on the way to go about it.
