Everton plan Kasper Schmeichel transfer

This is just one of them ones you hear about and just think 'oh fgs, **** off!'

Laughable if it actually happens. Schmeichel would be dumb to leave. Everton would be p*ssed to pay that much for him. We would be silly to break up our back 5.

Doesn't sound like he wants to leave

may as well lock this

Leicester City will defend the Premier League title with the same determination it took to become champions last season, says Foxes goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel.

The unlikely title win by a team who were 5000-1 outsiders was described as one of the great sporting stories.

Schmeichel, 29, told BBC East Midlands Today: "I can assure you the hunger is 100% still there.

"We have to go again, do exactly the same again and see where it takes us."

Schmeichel was an ever-present for the Foxes in the Premier League last season.

The Dane was speaking prior to France midfielder N'Golo Kante's move from the King Power Stadium to Chelsea for a fee believed to be in the region of £30m.

The club begin the new campaign against Manchester United in the Community Shield on Sunday, 7 August, with their Premier League title defence beginning six days later when they visit promoted Hull City .

'We trust each other'

Former Manchester City, Notts County and Leeds United goalkeeper Schmeichel said no specific goals had been set for the new season.

"We have never said 'this is what we are aiming for'," the Dane said. "We go out, we work hard for each other and do our best. That is all we ask of each other.

"If someone is not pulling their weight - which barely ever happens - then they will be told. Part of being a really good squad is the togetherness and being able to trust each other.

"We know that each day we go out on the training pitch or play a game that everyone is on it and everyone will give everything they have got."

Analysis

BBC East Midlands Today's Tom Brown

"I felt like I'd asked the wrong question. Kasper Schmeichel just looked at me, staring me down as he might a striker before a penalty, before slowly delivering the one-sentence answer I deserved when I enquired about their motivation for the season ahead.

"'I can assure you the hunger is 100% still there'," he said.

"So there we go. Leicester City are not satisfied by just winning the Premier League once. In fact, the club that's grown used to defying expectations is ready to do it all over again."According to most bookmakers, the Foxes are more likely to be relegated than retain their Premier League title next season.

"The departure of N'Golo Kante has fuelled opinions that Leicester will struggle this time out. But Schmeichel's steely determination was clear to see - as he also pointed out they're not going into the Champions League to make up the numbers.

"Just like his manager, he's aiming for even more success."

Positive news. Kasper is very good at handling the press

With Walsh off to Everton this could trigger kasper going there too?

 Why?

kasper would only sign for a team that was very likely to soon be playing Champions league football (as per NG).

Kaspers speaks fantastically to the press imo. Did anyone genuinely believe he was going to leave, or worse- did anyone actually want him to leavelol

top asset to our club on+off the pitch

This. His ability & character is great for the club & squad. He also has a connection with the fans, every goal we score means a lot to him and you can see that visually - he's passionate for us. A very good goalkeeper and for mel just like you said, he's an asset.

Alas I doubt anyone will ever head-hunt Rudkin (apart from the odd Amazion lost tribe).

Leicester star Kasper Schmeichel on the brink of agreeing new £100,000-a-week five-year contract

  • Kasper Schmeichel starred in Leicester's Premier League title triumph
  • The champions are set to reward him with new £100,000-a-week deal
  • Schmeichel, 29, has been offered a five-year contract by the Foxes
  • He will join Jamie Vardy as the highest paid player in the club's history

Goalkeeper Kasper Schmeichel is set to join striker Jamie Vardy as the highest paid player in Leicester City's history.

The Premier League winner is close to agreeing the £100,000-a-week deal that kept Vardy at the club, although Schmeichel has been offered a five-year contract compared to Vardy's four.

Claudio Ranieri, despite losing midfielder N'Golo Kante to Chelsea this summer, is looking to keep hold of the star players who helped the club secure a memorable top-flight title triumph last season.

And after Vardy snubbed interest from Arsenal to commit his future to the King Power outfit, the Denmark international looks set to follow suit.

Schmeichel, son of United legend Peter, kept 15 clean sheets as the Foxes stunned the football world to win the Premier League.

He also finished the season as the only goalkeeper to play every minute of every Premier League game.

The 29-year-old has two years left of his current deal and can point to how the Foxes' amazing run to the title began when he was restored to the side 10 games from the end of the 2014-15 season.

Only a Cesc Fabregas penalty at Chelsea in the last match of the 2015-16 campaign stopped him adding to his record of 20 clean sheets in 48 matches since.

Ranieri's Premier League champions will now reward the Denmark international for his performances with a bumper new deal.

100k a week?!?! Really? If true seems like we're paying players this just to keep them happy not based on their value to the team

If we don't pay it then someone else is.

We're the Champions of England. Lets act like it.

They're champions, and deserved to be paid what champions deserve

25 million pound contract is a tad risky

yeah he had a great season, hopefully he can maintain that form.

I think this could have a negative effect on mahrez deal though if he is offered parity

He ain't worth 100,000 a week....  Apart from top 3 goalkeepers in premier league no other keeper is even close to that figure.

Name 3 better keepers from the Premier League.

Lloris, De Gea and Courtois. Without a shadow of doubt all are better than Kasper. He's probably 4th best going off last season.
