dmayne7 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 'Legend' and yet people kick and scream at the suggestion King could be one?!
chicagofox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 As well as Drinky did last season, Cambiasso adds more in terms of leadership, set-pieces and general goal threat. Bollocks!
chicagofox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 The way some people go on you'd think in his one season with us Cambiasso was a star 10 out of 10 performer in every game. He wasn't. Like the entire team he had some good days and a lot of poor games. He was very good in the last 10 games but then so was every member of the starting 11.
It'sblueupnorth Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 For me he was different class. Id welcome him back if it was for a year and then he moves into coaching with us or if he just joins the coaching team from the off.
Izzy Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Good to have him here for a season. An inspired signing and no doubt he played a big part in the Great Escape so we should always thank him for that. A club legend? No, not for me, but I'd give him a warm reception whatever capacity he returned in. We moved onwards and upwards without him and he'd struggle to get in the side now though. It was nice while it lasted...
Bayfox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 'Legend' and yet people kick and scream at the suggestion King could be one?! No. ***** with no idea suggest kingy isn't a legend. The sort that complain about membership and season tickets in the last 2 years. Dons tin hat.
Foxy harry Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I have a feeling he doesnt really like ranieri. If i remember rightly he left soon after Ranieri was appointed.
LCCFox96 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 In playing capacity, no. We've evolved. In a coaching capacity, in an absolute heart beat. The guy was a class act to have around.
FoxInTheBirstallBox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I have a feeling he doesnt really like ranieri. If i remember rightly he left soon after Ranieri was appointed. ... he left before ranieri joined, July 1st he left, like all contracts normally work from But really? People seriously suggest they would have him back now, I think people need to take off the rose tints. He was good but legend? No, would he be ahead of drinkwater and kante? No The arse licking on this thread is unbelivable!
The Quick Brown Fox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I love the man, so much so that I am (unsuccessfully) trying to convince my wife to name our unborn son Esteban. Wouldn't take him in as a player though, as a coach 100% yes.
katieakita Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Top man and a fine example to anyone what a model professional is. During his time here he took things to a different level and his reading of the game is right up there with any footballer I have ever seen. That also includes knowing when it is time to move on, lets be honest few thought they would ever see a player of his class put on a City shirt and it was a privilege watching him play his part in the great escape. Even fewer in our wildest dreams could have imagined what last season had in store. Not having this not getting on with Ranieri both are more professional than that, in hindsight most accepted that he had no more to give and the fear was we could not replace him. Have no reason to think he was not part of this band of brothers and he was a leader for many. The guy is a winner just like our team so if there was a place for him why not, not as a player but coaching and being part of the bigger team. I haven't a clue how much goes on behind the scenes to prepare for a 90 minute game of football but whatever we are doing we are doing it bloody well, Cambiasso just oozes positives. It is a bit like those moaning about Wasy getting another years contract, why wouldn't you. It is not about having your best 11 players on the pitch it is about having the right 11 players on the pitch and Esteban could help with that.
David Hankey Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 A one season wonder if that. Why do folk get so excited by him. Hew was only here so he could say he played in the EPL. Going back is not going forward!!

sdb Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Blimey I thought he was outstanding for us. Average during the worst spells but still better than most. During the run in he was 8-9/10 every week. Hardly a mercenary either. I'm sure he could've earned more with us had he chosen to stay. Would love him to pop back! Even at a half time so we could say thanks and bye properly.
Jattdogg Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Bet he wishes he stayed! Great for our season but i moved on the moment he didnt want to stay
shailen Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 As good as he was, and trust me he was good, I don't think he has the energy to fit into the style of play we have. We are going to spend the majority of next season without the ball, and don't think he has the legs to be able to sprint 40 yards when we counter and get back if we lose the ball.
Charl91 Posted 10 July 2016 Posted 10 July 2016 Obviously a little old to play for us now. Would I have him back, as he was for us the season before this one? Without a doubt. Excellent player, and I'm not sure we'd have stayed up without him.
Captain... Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 upgrade on inler Arguably, but Inler didn't suit our style of play. If we had re-signed Esteban, we wouldn't have signed Inler, but would Ranieri have been able to drop Cambiasso for the good of the team like he did Inler? Cambiasso would have had the vision to play some killer balls for Mahrez and Vardy but he wouldn't have had the energy to do what Drinkwater, Kante or Okazaki do. We would possibly have had to stay with a 352 to accommodate him: Morgan Huth Benny Albrighton----------- Schlupp/Fuchs Kante---Cambiasso---Drinkwater Vardy -- Okazaki How do you fit Mahrez in that side? as a Forward? We almost definitely wouldn't have won the league if we had re-signed Cambiasso there were so so so many factors all coming together at the right time, even one positive signing Cambiasso or Veretout or Aranguiz or signing Musa in January could have changed everything.
Captain... Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 To answer the question I would welcome EC back in any capacity except first team player, if he wanted to join the squad as a player coach and be available if needed but is focussing more on doing his badges and as a mentor and not expecting to play very much then that would be awesome. His experience of the CL and of coping with the pressure of being a winner would benefit all. This is new territory for everyone (except Huth) even Ranieri this is his first time defending a league title, dealing with the pressure of expectation. fortunately the press and the bookies are taking all that pressure off by writing us off again, lets hope we can prove them wrong again.
AyewJoking Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 WARNING-PERSONAL OPINION i dont think there is any pressure on us to "defend" the title. just have to keep the belief and team spirit and see where it takes us.

Completely agree, but whilst I don't think there is any pressure to defend the title, there is still expectation that we will do well, everywhere we go it will be defending champions this, reigning champions that, we al revelled in Chelsea's capitulation at the start of last season. Finishing in the bottom half of the table after winning the league would be a disappointing season.
Babylon Posted 11 July 2016 Posted 11 July 2016 2. On the field, as possibly the most over-rated player (by just about all our fans,I mean) he club has ever had. So what you're saying is the opinion of the vast majority of people is wrong?
