Guest Col city fan Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I'll remember Cambiasso for two reasons: 1. As a consummate pro. He didn't just join us for a final pay packet. He loved the club and the fans. I'm sure his just being in the dressing room must have been inspiring. 2. On the field, as possibly the most over-rated player (by just about all our fans,I mean) he club has ever had. For the bulk of the season the midfield area was wide open, we were leaking goals and I believe were doomed to relegation before Huth got signed and Pearson finally sorted out our best formation. One which enabled Cambiasso to shine. I wasn't surprised he left us. I think he knew he'd struggle with another season in the Prem and he'd helped to keep us up so his job was done really. Legend...no, not for me. Great man....for sure.
Tuna Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He must be so proud of where we are now as a football club.
ScouseFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 obviously a legend and obviously we'd have him back. don't think he'd play much but there is literally no way we wouldn't benefit from having him around the place.

foxes21 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I'd love to see him back at the KP.. As manager when ranieri retires.
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Not really. It was well documented that our squad was formed of players who all had something to prove having either failed or been told they weren't good enough elsewhere. Kasper - Leeds got rid because they blamed him for their goals against talley Simpson - QPR happy to get rid and just read other fans opinions of "how has he got a prem medal" Morgan - Forest fans weren't overly bothered about him leaving Huth - surplus to requirements at Stoke Albrighton - released by Villa Drinkwater - told he wouldn't make the grade at Man Utd Kante - "Who?" When he signed from lower league in France Mahrez - as above Okazaki - just another signing to help promote the club in Asia Vardy - released by Sheff Wednesday as a youth Yes really. All players move on to either advance their career or money (or both)It's part of the 'modern game' and is naive to think otherwise. Vardy joined leicester from Fleetwood for this reason, Kante and Mahrez (and all your other examples) also did so. I'm sure you can soul-search and find some 'justifications' as to to why one is justified yet another not, but that's just personal perspective. Some may potentially be more mercenary about it but at the end if the day it's all down to the individual. Players join Leicester FROM other teams for this reason. Some will decide to move away because from their perspective they believe they have a better future somewhere else. It shouldn't be seen as a negative, it's just football.
ithuriel Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He was an integral part of the team that kept us up, since he did not need the money and was in my opinion, world class if coming towards the end of a glittering career. I consider myself fortunate to have seen him play so many games in a Leicester shirt. I figured he was off at the end of that season when he bowed to the crowd after scoring and I was really hoping I was wrong because he was a quality player. I doubt he would come back unless he wanted to try coaching or managing at some point.
Sooper Steve's shin Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 If he is at the level of when he played for us, I would have him in the Drinkwater role in a second - Kanté to do the running, Cambiasso spraying it around. As well as Drinky did last season, Cambiasso adds more in terms of leadership, set-pieces and general goal threat. But, for various reasons, I don't think either we or he would (or should) go for it.
CosbehFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Not too fussed about coaching or playing, I'd just like to see him come down as a guest of the club and have a quick chat with the Birch at half time
Sharpe's Fox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Still the most classy player with some of the best moments of quality I've ever seen at this club, even after last season. What a man.
Jace Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Would have loved to have seen what Cambiasso and Kante would have been like in midfield ticks all the right boxes
surrifox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Do you really think we would have won the league had he stayed? I'd certainly take him back tho. But maybe as a player coach. His cl experience could be helpful. However. I wouldn't imagine it's on the agenda. Who's to say we wouldn't - definitely a moot point . It's pretty clear that very few teams would be weakened by his inclusion though
Manwell Pablo Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Fully deserved his player of the season award, never gave up on the cause no matter how desperate it looked, top professional, and when was on it top class. Would I have him back playing now, no chance

It's what he does with us that counts. While he was a good player for us, he certainly wasn't a great. Huth had a bigger impact than him last season. However I loved his attitude and was disappointed when he left. I wouldn't want him back now though.
Guest Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 If I answered your question I'd get banned for at least 2 months as in the past. Very true indeed. Huth was the saviour as my HUTH thread pointed out that year.
fuchsntf Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Wouldnt want him as a player....He had his time, he had his chance to stay. Fond memories and a mini-legend. Accept him back has understudy to Ranieri, if he made the cut ,welcome him with open arms to take future manager job...though many ifs and buts, to get him there..

I doubt Ranieri would want him back as Cambiasso didn't want to play for him.

Legend...no, not for me. Great man....for sure. Absolutely spot on. Its cool and the done thing to jizz over how he good he was, but he really wasn't. He scored some good goals and later in the season in the 352 he did well, but on the whole his attitude was what stood out, not his performances. Still think the magic chant, the Man u equalizer clouds peoples memories of him. For 75 per cent of the season he was as shit as the rest of them.
UpTheLeagueFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Classy player but... wasn't as universally popular with all his team mates as some fans would like to believe.
Dan Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I wonder how much has influence lasted with a lot of our squad last season. A seasoned winner who will have passed on absolutely loads. Not saying he's the reason we won the league but makes you wonder what influence he did have on some of them in the long-run. As a player no, as a coach one day maybe so, although depends if he wants to go up that route.
Jacnah Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I ask this out of sheer curiosity, Would anyone welcome him back, Does he suit our style of play, Do you regard him as a legend, As stated above its a question asked out of interest with no foundation, what's people's opinion With a standing ovation if he was visiting. Not as a player. as a coach?? who knows Not sure that he is mobile enough to be honest, ultimately quality has a habit of shining through but I'll answer this with a view to today and not the player he was. No. Definitely not. Did a good job for us for a year, but he wasn't the only one with quality who put a shift in. This doesn't mean i don't value his contribution, but to call him a legend would only demonstrate I didn't understand what a legend is ................................................and that I was most likely still at school.

CORNFOX68 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Thought he struggled first part of season, yes there were some flashes of brilliance but quite often his legs wernt quite quick enough to do what his brain was telling them, but second half of season he got stronger as games went on and last 10 games he was immense and must have had some input in the changing room, just to the way he cajoled and encouraged other players gave me hope we could stay up, as a previous contributer said though huth made a lot of difference to cambiassos game when he arrived
