Russell sprout Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I ask this out of sheer curiosity, Would anyone welcome him back, Does he suit our style of play, Do you regard him as a legend, As stated above its a question asked out of interest with no foundation, what's people's opinion
WigstonWanderer Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Would love him back as a mentor, but doubt he'd get time in the first team
FireFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He never left. He has been managing us since the great escape.
jaqo88 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Definitely wouldn't want him back now. We have moved on and he would be 4th choice at best. He did a wonderful job here and we wouldn't be where we are without him, so a coaching role or something similar would be great but as a player - no chance. Not sure if he quite qualifies as a legend, after all he was only here for a short time, but he certainly deserves to be remembered for what he did.
surrifox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He is no doubt delighted with the advice he received on his career direction at the end of the season before last . Could have finished his career as a Premiership winner instead of a bit part player with a bunch of shit kickers in Greece
Blue will Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 Like to see him at half time, give him a good clap but that's about it
Larry_LCFC Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I'd have him back in a coaching role. His moment has gone first team wise. Still love him though.
nickm Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He deserves nothing from us, he was paid a good wage which he improved on when he left us, just another mercenary with no loyalty
Mad Dog Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He deserves nothing from us, he was paid a good wage which he improved on when he left us, just another mercenary with no loyaltyCome on mate. Have some respect. He did an outstanding job for us.
GaelicFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He deserves nothing from us, he was paid a good wage which he improved on when he left us, just another mercenary with no loyalty I sort of get what you mean I sort of also think it's ungrateful to say it I had a bad taste in my mouth about him leaving But dilly ding dilly dong we won the league MAN ! Move on
MC Prussian Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 At one point, I'd expect him to make a GoT-like re-appearance at Belvoir Drive.
LCFC FOX Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I honestly bet he feels gutted he didn't stick around one more season. He would of had one of the best cvs around then! He could even have left for Greece this season or the USA or China
Bayfox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He is no doubt delighted with the advice he received on his career direction at the end of the season before last . Could have finished his career as a Premiership winner instead of a bit part player with a bunch of shit kickers in Greece Do you really think we would have won the league had he stayed? I'd certainly take him back tho. But maybe as a player coach. His cl experience could be helpful. However. I wouldn't imagine it's on the agenda.
Guest CityFan 06 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I'd love him here in a coaching role, because I'm convinced he is partly why Drinkwater came on another level last season. Not just Drinkwater, but all of our midfield players at the time would of benefited from being around him. In terms of a first team spot, we've got a lot of CM's so unsure if he'd play regularly. However, he would of course be excellent to have because of his experience which could continue to benefit our players. He's one of the best CM's I've ever seen play for Leicester. There were some real classy moments when he was here.
GeorgeTheFox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He's a legend not because of his playing, but because of his attitude
trickytrevbenjamin Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He would be a fantastic addition in terms of knowledge. Obviously in terms of style of play he doesn't massively suit now with the legs we have in the middle. However as noted previously as a player coach he would help the players no end. In my views he was one of the main reasons we stayed up. His quick balls round the side got us out of a lot of sticks situations and his general leadership brought the players on massively.
st albans fox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He wanted to play every week if fit. Claudio wouldn't guarantee that. I don't blame him for moving on. Look at what happened to Inler. Last season was probably his last season fit enough to do himself justice. I'd love to see his experience here behind the scenes but I'm not sure he has that kind of relationship with the manager. We do owe him. No Esteban last season = no great escape = no PL title
jonthefox Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He had one great season with us and I'll always remember him fondly. Let's just leave it at that eh ?.
Kitchandro Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He's a legend not because of his playing, but because of his attitude This. He wasn't at his classy best every week by any stretch of the imagination, but he was a real leader and great professional. I love him for that, there's no doubt in my mind that he was absolutely crucial to us staying up. He was a real Leicester hero, in my opinion. I'd like to see him go into management. But, another 2 years older, and how that central midfield has strengthened, it's too late for him as a player here.
Sublime_Coatsworth Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 He deserves nothing from us, he was paid a good wage which he improved on when he left us, just another mercenary with no loyalty That's a daft thing to say. It's the modern game and could be said of just about every player! If you take that approach then the current squad could be viewed as 'mercenary and disloyal' since they left their previous club in favour of Leicester (for money and/or to advance their careers). Seriously, a daft attitude!
foxy boxing Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 It was fantastic having his experience and capabilities in the team and having a player of his calibre helped us a lot but he chose to leave and we have moved on so much already since he left he owes us nothing and the club owes him nothing
WigstonWanderer Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 I honestly believe he left last year because he wanted to go out on top. There was no way to improve on that season for him in people's affections, and I think he realised that. I doubt the money had that much to do with it. I'm sure he wasn't short of a few bob.
DB11 Posted 9 July 2016 Posted 9 July 2016 That's a daft thing to say. It's the modern game and could be said of just about every player! If you take that approach then the current squad could be viewed as 'mercenary and disloyal' since they left their previous club in favour of Leicester (for money and/or to advance their careers). Seriously, a daft attitude! Not really. It was well documented that our squad was formed of players who all had something to prove having either failed or been told they weren't good enough elsewhere. Kasper - Leeds got rid because they blamed him for their goals against talley Simpson - QPR happy to get rid and just read other fans opinions of "how has he got a prem medal" Morgan - Forest fans weren't overly bothered about him leaving Huth - surplus to requirements at Stoke Albrighton - released by Villa Drinkwater - told he wouldn't make the grade at Man Utd Kante - "Who?" When he signed from lower league in France Mahrez - as above Okazaki - just another signing to help promote the club in Asia Vardy - released by Sheff Wednesday as a youth
