ScouseFox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Re Colin Murray, doesn't Murdoch have a significant stake in bskyB? And sky and talksport are partners and regularly advertise sky sports on there. Think the whole Murdoch /the sun hate has gone too far now. It was years and years ago and they have apologised since. I doubt Colin Murray would turn down being a sky presenter, nor do Liverpool fans refuse to watch sky sports. Whole thing is bizarre tbh. He was probably considering leaving anyway. Also this news group /murdoch owns the times too. Do Liverpool fans not buy the times too? As it's the same company? i think it went too far when the sun blamed dead fans and their friends and relatives for killing each other just to sell a few 20p newspapers. not sure why you think it's bizarre that there's bad feeling there? if you had watched helplessly as someone you know and loved had died in front of you then got home after the most traumatic few days of your life to find out you'd been branded a murderer by a national newspaper, would you think it was "too far" to campaign against them?

I hardly think Hillsborough is the only reason people hate Murdoch and the sun even if it is a good enough one.
geodude Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 I hardly think Hillsborough is the only reason people hate Murdoch and the sun even if it is a good enough one. At the end of Colin Murrays resignation quote he says JFT96. So its basically due to that, as he's a Liverpool fan.

If they don't buy the sun, then they can't watch sky or buy the times too. Otherwise the protest isn't a proper protest. There money is still reaching Murdoch.
geodude Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 I would imagine he's on some form of freelance contract. Mike Graham is a very good broadcaster. I'll leave it at that Just out of interest, how much do the top guys at talksport earn roughly? Like Adrian Durham, Alan Brazil etc. I've heard it's about 2 grand a show. Which equals around £500,000 a year. Surely not that much?
Fox92 Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 He is a genius. No point in using that though considering everybody said the same thing. Hindsight is wonderful...
CosbehFox Posted 14 July 2016 Posted 14 July 2016 Did anyone hear ray Wilkins on the England euro 2016 inquest show the other week? It was cringeworthy to say the least. If anyone has 2 hours spare time then listen to this podcast. He is clearly drunk. He keeps butting in when others try to speak and is extremely forthright with his views. He also didn't take the other guys views on board at all, and basically ridiculed anyone who didn't have the same view as him! He even says Stan collymore shouldnt really have a view on England as he never played at that level. He says other ridiculous things as well such as he thinks Paul Scholes should have come out of retirement and gone to the euros as a player In the end he gets cut off the show, he even starts the show late and had to apologise for being late. http://talksport.com/football/euro-2016-podcast-england-inquest-adrian-durham-ray-wilkins-jim-proudfoot-and-nigel That's the podcast and a few days following this show its in the news that he got pulled over by police for drink driving. He's obviously got a drink problem He wasn't drunk. He's currently suffering from an illness what causes his lip to drop much like suffering from a stroke. There were a couple of euro commentatory games he had to drop out due to it

But this tells you he was drunk. http://www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-3673285/Ex-England-football-star-Ray-Wilkins-charged-drink-driving.html

Ironically I saw once whilst assistant at Villa drinking in Grand Central/New Street at about 12.30 one midweek afternoonhttp://www.dailymail.co.uk/sport/cricket/article-2727368/Sir-Ian-Botham-shuns-charity-Cricket-United-tie-favour-Scunthorpe-United-colours-England-s-Test-against-India-The-Oval.html There's a reference in there regards Wilkins speech issues
Tuna Posted 19 July 2016 Posted 19 July 2016 Murray is off the air this week, has he been suspended? Hawksbee not on today either, are they being brainwashed at News Corp HQ? I love listening to Durham's drivetime show. It's a huge laugh, no matter how obvious the troll, there is always someone out there dim enough (Usually Arsenal fans) to ring up and have a go and make a fool of themselves.
Super_horns Posted 20 July 2016 Posted 20 July 2016 Has Quinn left too given his Liverpool links? Or is the job too important because its the only one he'd get...

Murray has resigned and will leave in September, he's on holiday this week.

Soar Fox Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 I tried listening to the Talksport podcast with the two Mikes. What a load of rubbish that was. I had to turn off after half an hour, they sound like 2 old drunken blokes rambling on in the corner of a pub. They got talking about Leicester, they couldn't remember Nigel Pearson's surname. Then one of them said "he's at Derby now" the other replied with "oh Nigel clough" They then got on to the subject of Nottingham forest under Brian clough, they couldn't remember the name of the big striker they had up front "John something" Seriously do people really listen to shite like that.

You couldn't have picked a worse show, those 2 are idiots who just ramble about nothing, that's why they are normally hidden in the middle of the night
Tom's Pasta Posted 21 July 2016 Posted 21 July 2016 Love drive time actually, I do find Durham very entertaining although he does often exaggerate things to get a response. I still listen to the sports bar with goldstein and cundy but I do think that some of their older features were better than now.
boots60 Posted 21 July 2016 Author Posted 21 July 2016 Anyone that takes Adrian Durham remotely seriously needs to have a word with themselves. He is old skool wind up. Posh fan & allegedly hates Leeds & Arsenal. Keeps bored commuters tuning in.
LutterworthLCFC Posted 22 July 2016 Posted 22 July 2016 The Two Mikes are awful, just hours of bickering.

The Horse's Mouth Posted 27 July 2016 Posted 27 July 2016 Only one I like is Durham, he's a grade a gobshite and he's magnificent.
Tuna Posted 2 September 2016 Posted 2 September 2016 Murray finished his last show today. I'll really miss it, great fun when you are on the road all day. Any word on the new mid morning show?
