Monk Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Hull will be an interesting benchmark. I can't see them staying up and with the forward 4 we had on in the second half yesterday we should quite frankly have a field day. It it was only a Jose park the bus job for large parts of the game that stopped us. Can't see Hull having that level of organisation. It should be the kind of game where Mahrez shines, so I would go for 3-0. Vardy, Mahrez(2)

Having one attack minded winger and one defensive minded winger, gives our midfield a good balance. Gray should compete with Mahrez for the attack minded winger role, then albrighton/schlupp and possibly kaputska for the defensive minded role. I'd disagree. Fuchs is playing well and having Grey on the left worked well until Fuchs went off and Schlupp couldn't fill his defensive shoes. I'd go for a midfield L to R of Grey, Mendy, Drinky and Mahrez with Okazaki and Vardy up front. I'd prefer Musa be up there but Okazaki is clearly a better choice behind the front man with an attack minded midfield. its likely to be like the start of last season where we have to play to score more than the opposition until a regular defensive midfielder can evolve in Mendy or be bought in. Should make for exciting if hair raising play.
foxes21 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 ok so lets say Gray plays and then has a very good game. We have Arsenal next up, when we will really need Albrighton's attributes but Gray won't be dropped because he played well vs Hull. Mahrez & Gray vs Hull we can get away with. But it will cost us vs arsenal imo.

He did some good moves and goals last season from a direct middle of the park shimmy, run and score. I wouldn't mind seeing Mahrez tried out in the Okazaki role and then retain Grey in the midfield. Now that'd be off the wall tactical thinking.
Vindaloo FOX Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Schmeichel Simpson Morgan Hernandez Fuchs Mahrez Drinkwater Amartey Gray / Jeff Vardy Musa
Daz93 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 I think we should start with Okazaki. Musa is lethal to bring on. Hernandez in for Huth and Mendy for King, otherwise same starting line up as yesterday.

Gray has looked better than Albrighton this pre-season and simply deserves to start next week
Guest Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 So many people looking to drop Huth. He is our rock at the back. Hernandez looks good on the ball but hasn't looked up to Huth's level defensively yet.

FoxLAD Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 I think we should win quite easily. Hull have a good championship side but untill they make any good signing i cant see them staying up.

Fox92 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 I think this is the type of game we should be looking to start two attacking wingers. Albrighton and his defensive style too be used in certain games for me but we should be looking to take advantage of Hull while they are in a bit of a mess. Kasper Simpson -- Morgan -- Hernandez -- Fuchs Mahrez -- Drinkwater -- Amartey -- Gray Okazaki Vardy
Stevosevic Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Worrying if we don't win this considering how much of a mess they are.

One reason why City became champions is that we treated every side with respect. Hull have experience in the Premier League, and while Bruce has gone, there are still players and backroom staff who know how to set up for games. I doubt that Ranieri, Shakespeare and the rest will think that this game is a gimmee, but if do, Hull will swiftly disabuse them. I'll take 1-0 to us - anything else is a bonus. I like this post - let's not lose our humility and turn into supporters of big clubs who just expect to smash everything in their paths with a lack of footballing knowledge and a dollop of arrogance. I was listening to the radio on Weds on talksport.... Pundits, fans, experts couldn't see how Newcastle, the best club in the Championship by a country mile with its players, new signings, manager, fan base etc wouldn't walk the League by 15+ points.... By that evening the arrogance had dissipated somewhat after their loss to Fulham who finished 20th in that League the previous season.
Bluearmyfox28 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 Schmeichael Simpson Morgan Was Fuchs Mahrez Drinky Amartey Gray Musa Vardy Subs: Zieler, Hernandez, Schlupp, Mendy, Albrighton, Ulloa, Okazaki Gone with Amartey in the middle of the park, as I think he will offer us that power in the middle we've been lacking. Was at the back as I think Hernandez might struggle a little with Abel Hernandez' power. Finally Grey out left instead of Albrighton as I think we need to start this game all guns blazing & try to get a few early goals against what will be a shaky hull defence. Im going for 2-0 to us. Mahrez & Musa.
Guest Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 I think we can call this a "Must Win". I think Was is the better replacement for Huth and would love to see him in but I'm sure CR will play Hernandez.
foxfan92 Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 What a difference a season makes. The abuse Simpson and Albrighton, 2 key players in our league winning team last season, are getting is unbelievable. And the doom and gloom from some people post Kante is quite shocking too. Yes I prayed to every God I could think of hoping he'd stay. He was quite simply amazing for us last season. Given his reserved nature I'm surprised he opted to work for an authoritarian like Conte but it was his choice. I took a trip down memory lane just - going almost exactly a year back to see all the doom and gloom messages post Cambiasso and the match ratings for the first few games - Sunderland, West Ham, Tottenham, Bury. It's not until the 4th game Kante got ratings higher than a 6 or 7 and he'd come on as sub in the first games. We'd still won using a 4-4-2 formation without him starting. We need to let players like Mendy have a few games under his belt before we can decide if we've got this gaping hole now in the middle. And those suggesting we do also seem to be the ones who discount Shinj, clearly not appreciating the work he does to support our midfield. I think Ranieri will start the same team as yesterday save for the forced change of Hernandez for Huth. New singing may become regular fixtures in the starting line up but need to be introduced patiently to keep our winning mentality and formula going. I love the idea of Musa and Vardy giving opposition defences hell and I am a big admirer of Gray and think he has a very bright future. Hoping to see Mahrez back to his best now the season has properly started but fully supporting whatever team the manager picks on the day. Come on you Foxes!!!!
ScouseFox Posted 8 August 2016 Posted 8 August 2016 you have got to be completely drunk to consider not playing shinji
