Do we really need to start our best line up against Dull. It could be a long ol' season and last year we were blessed virtually injury free.

Cards may be a bigger issue this season and we don't want to be left short handed in a much more difficult game.

It's rather important to come out of the gate with a strong first kick, IMO.

What is clear is if we lose this (let's have it right..we shouldn't..they are in an awful place and we are the Champions), this forum will melt down. My iPad will melt down and whole www will grind to a halt.

We mustn't lose....

Dropping Huth for Hernandez is ridiculous, Hernandez is not strong enough to be a CB, if he plays he should be a RB. Those calling for mahrez and Morgan to be dropped are deluded too, it's preseason, get over it.

You do realise that Hernandez is actually a CB?

I am looking for a professional performance from the lads. We need to be solid and take our chances when they come along.

I think we'll approach this with the right mentality. Not having won our prestigious friendlies plus losing out on the Community Shield will have everyone left with their feet firmly grounded.

There's nothing to indicate that we're overconfident and Ranieri himself has set the bar low again.

I'm wondering how many players Hull are going to name on the bench: Will they come up with some last-minute signings or give some of their U-21s a place on the sidelines?

Dean Windass could be on the bench.

Desperate times call for desperate measures.

They'll resign Nick Barmby, Jimmy Bullard, Stephen Hunt & Ian Ashbee.

Sorry but great servant that he has been, Andy King wouldn't be anywhere near the first team now imo. Need to look at a more assertive and offensive player. Too early to judge Amartey or Mendy bit may be the answer. Still think we are overall weak at RB and CAM.

Not too sure he'll start with Musa but I hope he does. Would be great to see Kapustka get some game time too. I agree with Claudio from last season when he said that the bench should be expanded to allow more choice from the squad - these days with such big squads it's a shame when players like King, Albrighton might not make the squad because of limited numbers.

I would agree with this team. Although I'm undecided on whether to start Musa or Okazaki.

i just hope that we go out next Saturday and play the way we all witnessed last season more often than not. Take the game to Hull and with there lack of quality players they should not be able to cope.

Ha I kept wondering why people were dropping Huth. Totally forgot about his little ban.

Hernandez in for Huth for me. Gray and Musa on 2nd half for Albrighton and Okazaki.

Dont even think about putting Schlupp in at left back.

This. Hull will not have much of a bench, so will tire second half and have limited options to refresh. Gray and Musa against a flagging makeshift team will be a sight to see. They will park the bus, so we need to get a first half goal to force them out.

Would like to see Musa start but almost certain that Claudio will stick with Sunday's starting line up. He likes to bed new signings in over time as he did with Kanté and Fuchs last season. Never sure about DD and King as a combo but surprised how many people are picking Mendy. He's been pretty disappointing in pre season. Know it is very early days but I was expecting him to be much better. Maybe he'll step it up in competitive games.

King did have a couple of good moments against Man U including a decent header. He should cope against Hull. Schlupp on the wing might be good too. They cannot afford more injuries.

Feel for Mendy having to follow in the footsteps of Kante.. An impossible ask!

We won't start our best lineup against Hull.

Firstly Huth is out. Secondly CR will play last year's team players over some of the new guys who will be starting within a few weeks.

Anyone know which Hull players are injured?

Allan McGregor, Alex Bruce, Moses Odubajo and Michael Dawson are out with long-term injuries.

On a sidenote, Abel Hernandez is rumoured to leave for Aston Villa.

I'd stay close to our XI from last season as possible. No need to take too many risks. It won't be easy but on paper we should be winning this. Hernandez for Huth and Mendy for Kante. Keep Shinji and Albrighton in, for now at least.

Mendy should start. He needs the games to get fully match fit and get to grips with the PL. We have yet to see the best of him but he's getting there :)
