Spain through and so are Iceland in all probability after a very good win in Turkey...

Cracking result for Iceland, winning 3-0 in Turkey. Iceland now top with Kosovo (H) as last match, so near certs.

I wonder what sort of reception the home side got from the fans?

Croatia cocked up, too, drawing with Finland: Ukraine v. Croatia as the other last qualifying match, effectively a play-off for the play-offs as both have 17pts.

Ireland vs Wales should be good on Monday. Looking at the groups they need results to go their way if either are to get a play off spot.

Will be interesting, considering Serbia lost.

Reckon Wales will clinch 2nd position, but just can't see Georgia giving Serbia a shock at the former's place to enable Wales to finish first unfortunately.

Can’t wait for Russian World Cup, hearing all those inspiring anthems the welsh and the Irish sing, and then there’s us with the dullest most boring anthem ever in the history of anthems that inspires absolutey no one. No wonder or football is dour

Our football is dour. But Wales and Ireland are not exactly the Brazil '70 team either.

Fvck the football,  it’s the atmosphere that counts at world cups, and our lot are the most depressing bunch of w4nkers ever to set foot in a football ground.

How the hell did Colombia manage to concede 2 in the last 2 minutes at home to Paraguay?!?

That's a real cliff-edge drama for the last day. As I understand it Brazil have qualified, as have Uruguay barring cricket scores. Ecuador, Bolivia & Venezuela all out.

That leaves 5 nations fighting for 2 more automatic qualification spots plus a play-off spot:

Chile             26pts    GD +2

Colombia      26pts    GD +2

Peru              25pts    GD +1

Argentina      25pts    GD +1

Paraguay      24pts    GD -5

Final matches: Brazil v. Chile, Peru v. Colombia, Ecuador v. Argentina, Paraguay v. Venezuela

So, Paraguay's chances of qualifying suddenly look good. You'd have to assume that they'll beat Venezuela, taking them to 27pts - and above either Peru or Colombia, who play one another.

Also, to finish above them, Argentina would have to win in Ecuador and Chile would have to draw in Brazil.

Basically, it looks as if, to stand a strong chance of making the finals, Chile will need a draw in Brazil, Colombia will need a draw in Peru and Argentina will need a win in Ecuador.

That's absolutely remarkable from Paraguay. It's likely that they actually make it now.

I reckon it'll be...

Brazil, Uruguay, Colombia, Argentina, Paraguay for 5th. I reckon the Argies will pull it out the bag, Peru and Colombia will draw and Chile will get beaten.

Whoever comes 5th is likely to go through too as they'll face New Zealand.

I wonder how many Ukraine fans will travel to Russia if they qualify - after the Russian invasion of Crimea/E.Ukraine?

There seemed to be quite a few Ukrainians in Germany when I was there in 2006. In normal times, you'd expect a big influx of Ukrainians....but these aren't normal times.

Of course, they might not even qualify still.

We do deserve to be ripped into for that shitshow last summer, absolutely, but Iceland are very under-rated. They're clearly a good side.

If we played them in Russia, would people actually confidently back us?

Uganda 0 Ghana 0.....means that Egypt can qualify by beating Congo (H) tonight.

S. Africa 3 Burkina Faso 1....all 4 teams still in contention with Cape Verde v. Senegal a real six-pointer tonight. Senegal probably marginal favourites to qualify now.

Ridiculous penalty given to Sweden earlier, their player jumps into and spins the defender who makes no contact, throws himself over and wins the decision.

Nigeria win 1-0 and qualify for finals....

Bosnia lose 3-4 v. Belgium, putting Greece in pole position for play-offs if they can win in Cyprus

DR Congo 1-0 up in Libya, putting pressure on Tunisia (drawing 1-1 in Guinea) in that group

Team that finishes second in that group is almost certain to miss out on the play-offs though.

Probably good news if that's likely to be Greece. They never offer anything.....apart from that time they won the Euros, of course..

Libya 1 DR Congo 2; Guinea 1 Tunisia 4, so Tunisia almost there.....same boring names. Let's have a few new ones!

Draw no good to anybody in Wales v Ireland now Greece have won.

Last 5 minutes will be great if it's level, should be end to end carnage.

It'll still be terrible. Cagey rubbish like a modern cup final.

it should really be good but prob won’t. a cup final usually has a decent fav so one team knows a draw is tidy if they get to pens etc.

both teams are rubbish and both really need to win, probably be another generation before either get close to qualifying for a world cup again.

I'm watching Costa Rica vs Honduras. Hernandez has just put Honduras 1-0 ahead. As it stands USA and Honduras level on points.
