bald reynard Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 IF we win against Middlesbrough on Saturday, we will have (almost - except for Goal difference and number of games played) exactly the same record as Chelsea last season:- Chelsea end of November 2015 - Played 14 Won 4 Drawn 3 Lost 7 Goal Difference -6 Points 15 Position 14th Leicester end of November 2016 - Played 13 Won 4 Drawn 3 Lost 6 Goal Difference (depends on score v Middlesbrough, but we are currently -6) Points 15 Position (depends on other results on Saturday, but we are currently 14th) Chelsea were Premier League Champions in the preceding (2014-15) season, Leicester were Premier League Champions in the preceding (2015-16) season. Uncanny !?
Corky Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Chelsea's season was so far removed from what went before. In the five years previously, they'd won every trophy going. Our season, whilst being very disappointing, was not totally out of the question.
Wymsey Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Chelsea's downfall last season was largely due to Mourinho being 'funny' again and saying controversial stuff that possibly had an effect on the team. I reckon if someone like Hiddink was in charge there for the whole of last season, they would have finished around the top four. Chelsea/Leicester fan alliance anyone?

Uncanny !? The Saturday before Christmas 2015, Chelsea lost away (at the KP !) and their manager was sacked the following Tuesday. The Saturday before Christmas 2016, we play Stoke away. If we lose, will Claudio get the boot (and Gus Hiddink come in as Caretaker - or another ex-Club and International Manager, in City's case probably Sven !) ?

cc_star Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 Will the uncannyness continue with the manager getting the boot
Ric Flair Posted 21 November 2016 Posted 21 November 2016 We'd need to win 23 out of the remaining 26 games to match the points we got last season. Quite astounding.
bald reynard Posted 22 November 2016 Author Posted 22 November 2016 12 hours ago, bald reynard said: Well, that's promising anyway ! Of course, all this will mean we will finish 2016-17 10th in the PL (on 50 points), go out (to PSG ?) in the Round of 16 in the CL and go out in the 6th Round of the Cup. We will get a new permanent manager in Summer 2017 (another Italian), who will take us (back) to the top of the Premier League the last but one week of November ! Would we all take this scenario ?! I would ! PS I still love Claudio !
foxy boxing Posted 22 November 2016 Posted 22 November 2016 does that mean next season we will steal one of the champions best players

Puts it into perspective how relentless we were last season. Blips lasted 2-3 games, defeats so isolated they didn't matter. Mental.

Chelsea went out to PSG in the Round of 16 last season. Although I'd be happy with Chelsea's end to last years Premier season (10th on 50 points), I think I'd just love to do better than them in the Champions League and get to the Quarter Finals at least (ie beat whoever we get in the first Knockout round).

lcfcfoz Posted 23 November 2016 Posted 23 November 2016 Need PSG to win last group game to avoid them, or match Arsenal's result, that's who Chelsea lost to in last 16 last season

Uncanny x 2! PS Chelsea went on to be knocked out of the Champions League in the Group of 16, but did finish the 2015/16 Premier season in 10th place, on 50 points. I think I'd take both of those scenarios at this stage ! PPS Does it mean, that at the end of December 2017, Leicester will be 6 points clear at the top of the Premier League (as Chelsea are today) ?!
The Doctor Posted 31 December 2016 Posted 31 December 2016 BBC has us on GD -7 as well... Cue twilight zone music.

Aus Fox Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 So we are not the worst champions in history? in fact we are not the worst in the last couple of years.
Chico1958 Posted 1 January 2017 Posted 1 January 2017 And nobody has mentioned: The Little French Guys pact with the Devil this year Has anyone compared our title winning year versus Chelsea's this ?
