reynard Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Sorry but I don't completely buy into this money issue. Look at Spurs. They've offered big contracts to players, Chelsea's players earn more than ours but they work hard. Messi earns a fortune but you don't see him not putting in the effort. There's something much more worrying going on. The whole approach is so lackluster. We don't close down we don't seem to chase the ball we just seem to jog around ans wait for the opposition to perhaps make a mistake. Then we just hoof the ball down the other end of the pitch. After one of the Champion's League matches, I forget which now, Ranieri came out with something along the lines of "we don't want the ball which is why we kick it back to them and wait for them to attack.." For me it is all about the direction that is given to the players from the manager. Why do we always start so slowly, why isn't Vardy closing down like he used to. How come we've suddenly become crap at defending set pieces? From the time we started the great escape though most of last season we played fast paced exciting counter attacking football. We were on the front foot and we didn't allow the other side to get a hold of the match. This season it is completely the other way round. Like many on here I've watched Leicester for many years and this has all the hallmarks of the side that played under McClintock's management or even Brian Hamilton. Pathetic performances with a manager who seems to have no idea what to do. And if anyone wants to know how those seasons ended up...relegation. We need to get back to harrying and chasing and closing down collectively. We can't play any other way. The manager must take the lead in this but for some reason he doesn't seem to want us to.
cityfanlee23 Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 25% pay rise = 25% less effort. I think that is the ratio these days.

We had no proper pre season and have been trying to play catch up ever since. The signing have been poor for the money paid and I just wonder if interference with Walsh was part of his reason for leaving. Something is clearly wrong and needs fixing fast. I was thinking this too. Wtf was the point of being handed our arses to by Barcelona and PSG? It's not like we needed any money. Can't have done much for our confidence, would have much rather played Loughbrough Dynamo or someone equally wank like we did under Pearson.

Hasn't done any harm to other English clubs has it? If you want to be a big club and being the Champions, of course we should've played in that tournament. The way we played and have been playing we'd have lost to most teams. Oxford played us off the park too.
Vardinio'sCat Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Last year we were fitter and often fresher than our opponents. This year it is the other way round (with honorable exceptions for Drinky and Shinji). For me, the pre-season was a disaster, and the team can't really play in the same high octane manner. Last year the cryo chamber was one of our secret weapons, but we couldn't use it during that crucial period. Once you are not sure if your team-mates will press (which is hugely tiring way to play footy), the tactic starts to fall apart. Add in the lack of quality midfielders and the understandable disruption to the previously tight squad caused by the new signings, and bingo, it's all going horribly wrong in the league. I'm sure there are other factors involved, but I think those are some of the big ones.
cropstonfox Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Yes players unfit and not pressing any more.manager out his depth won the league on the back of peasrsons foundation. I like abit of a bet and got them at 300- to win it last year.9-1 a gimme for relegation. Reasons.Kantes gone.drinky suspended and king and amarty crap .schmicael badly missed.new signings abysmal.varry not running anymore .feels like back to maclintock days.

KingKante Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Chelsea sacked Jose the season after winning the league after they were underperforming... will the Thais do the same? Time will tell... Is hiddink still available?
filthyfox Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 One word.... Kante. Seriously, Mendy out whole season so far, and only bought in strikers.

sylofox Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Looking at our performances and no improvement intact getting worse. If money and the contracts have caused this we have a problem. Our players don't look like they are playing for anything. So I would guess we have NO relegation clauses.
DANGEROUS TIGER Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 We have to start winning now, or we will be just like the turkey, on the Xmas table. Stuffed!

If Ranieri has no say in who is recruited then what is the point of him being a manager ? Would you take on the role of manager and have no say in who you are going to have as players ? I'm pretty sure for all his faults Pearson would never have stood for that.

This is the way the modern game works, he will be consulted but he won't be the driving force behind who we look at.
