WigstonWanderer Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Vardy probably read some of the posts on here over the summer when he was trying to negotiate a new contract and thought "ok f**k you then" and has sat on his arse and just collected the dosh since.

They probably did I just don't think they tried hard enough. I also didn't like the idea of CR recommending him to Chelsea.

He was our best player though and I can't believe we wouldn't do all we could.

Oh we are playing crap there must be fall outs in the changing room. You just live in a utopia world, like most on this topic. Don't let the truth get in the way, facts are Walsh admitted he wanted to be closer to family and his North West Liverpool routes. Let that sink in for a minute, breath and read again. Walsh said that. No one else but Steve Walsh. Youve been in the game too long........errrrrrm garbish. Is it all pink in your Utopia World. So he goes to Everton and does the same job at Everton. Is that a promotion then? Ask any Everton fan Walsh hasn't exactly pulled up trees there and earlier in the season a lot of their fans were asking what does he do? What has Chelsea got to do with anything? I would suggest too too many of our players are in their comfort zones. We won it last year, we do not have to try so hard now after all we are getting mega bucks so we do not have to try. We don't press from the front anymore we let all teams in the premier league come onto us we give them too much room. Teams sit deeper against us and let us have possession we don't know what to do. Schmeichel, injured, Drinkwater banned, Mendy been injured all season. That is also a contributing factor. Been in the game too long my Ar**. Believe what you will. you clearly know little about what goes on inside Clubs. As it was Everton who came in for him the Family thing suited the excuse for leaving. Wasn't he chased by Arsenal on a year previously and chose to stay. You could be right about the comfort zone on the other hand the Clubs preparations and recruitment has been poor. There are many reasons for our poor performances. As for my time in the game yes sadly I have been in it for a lifetime. Sometimes I think I should have done something else.
gerrytaggart Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Anyone who has supported city for more than one season knows to expect this. Last season was an anomily and has given our new legion of fans a very false impression. Its never boring following city. Relegation scrap and last 16 of champs league sounds about right.

At least say 'flash in the pan', or a 'freak result' or whatever, as long as you're reasonably confident that you can spell it. It isn't you, gerrytaggart, please believe that, it's the whole board. Anomily, anonomy, ananomy, enomily, amanily and anamanily are all wrong. Please try and understand that before one of us dies. I guess you're hoping that it's me, and it probably will be, and I suppose I deserve it, but it will still be 'anomaly' as long as the English language survives in its current form.

FFS don't try reading any texts from anyone under 35
foxinsocks Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 It's good that we learnt to spell stuff properly (no pp) But apart from speculation that there must be some mechanism causing poor form and lack of effort (to press says the football genius Alan shearer).... what corroberation do we have that there is "something in the wood shed?"
foxy boxing Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 there are certain signs that people can pick upon to say all is not well and things are not as rosy as they should be! obviously body language is a big one. you can lie to everybody else but your body language and the way you come across will invariably give you away. also not answering direct questions and being evasive is another sign that something could be wrong. there are more signs to look out for and it will be interesting looking for them from now till the end of the season and seeing what they give away and what we may be able to find and interpret
foxinsocks Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 Agree .... but the body language i see is that of frustration and bewilderment. The evausiveness is wanting to be positive and not dis the team in public. Can anyone point to specific examples of disharmony or disillusion etc? I dont say it isnt there..... but i am seeking corroberation

Just as there was nothing we could do about Kante, but he decided to go. He got a new contract with the clause removed. We could of signed Kante up to a new contract without the clause as well. Apparently we tried. In an interview after he moved he, Kante said he also got a call from Jose at Man Utd. He declined to enter into conversation with them and as he said he was already in talks with Leicester and Chelsea and didn't want to muddy those discussions. Chelsea are a much more prestigious club and he had friends and other football players telling him to move. Kante never seemed that bothered about money and Chelsea would easily match whatever we offered, so the pull was just to much. We did try to sign Silva but that fell through, perhaps the club should of tried harder to get another midfielder in tho. It's gutting that Guane (spelling?!) went to Everton. Lets just hope Man U don't coming sniffing for Drinkwater in January :-\

Slimani has done pretty well, Musa is just taking a bit of time to settle but has looked decent in some games and Amartey is a 21 year old who's apparently expected to replace one of the best defensive midfielders in the world. While I agree that some of Claudios signings haven't been great, the 3 you've mentioned have not been his worst and are certainly not championship players Sorry but they have not improved the squad one iota . If anyone of those were put up for sale at the moment we would not get a quarter of what we paid for them .

Involved in 7 goals in 11 appearances is pretty good for a main striker being made to play as a link-up man behind Vardy.

steflcfc Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 The new signings that came in are struggling to get up to pace with the Prem by the looks of it hence not really featuring in our starting 11 much apart from covering for Injuries. Jurys still out on most of our signings of late. wouldnt say they have blended into the squad well, but hopefully in time some like Grey and Musa will find their feet to become regular starters. Slims been the best of the bunch, but he has had a few poor performances also when he has featured. Hopefully, they all can regain some confidence back by winning a few games and we can start to see the side play like we know they can. And have some bright youngsters to blend into the team like we did with Grey towards the end of last season.
Detroit Blues Posted 7 December 2016 Posted 7 December 2016 I think the team is structurally flawed from its makeup. When Kante left, we needed to sell off some of our wingers like Mahrez and Schlupp, and bring in more central midfielders and attacking fullbacks to fit into a modern system like the 4-2-3-1. Ranieri and Walsh (before he left) thought that they could either retain Kante, or make it work by finding his replacement. After all, why fix something that's not broken? Now it is evident that the 4-4-2 does not work without Kante, but Ranieri's hands are tied. The players he has can only fit in the current system. We don't have enough healthy midfielders to try to pack in the midfield, nor do we have the fullbacks needed to get forward. The signings they brought in cannot help change the makeup of the team as they were direct replacements in the 4-4-2 system: Mendy (kante), Slimani (Ulloa), Musa (Vardy), and Zieler (Schmeichel). They were meant to provide the depth we needed for the additional fixtures in the champions league, and overall improve the talent level within the system. Ranieri is probably hoping that Mendy is Kante 2.0, and that paired with Drinkwater the 4-4-2 will work like it had in the past. In January he'll probably have free reign from the owners to go out and spend what is needed to fix the problem.Until then we just have to sit tight and take our lumps.
