However my point was that a £30m NET spend is not a fortune for a PL side - let alone Champions, and Champions League competitors - as we were as soon as the title was won. I'm also saying that pointing the finger at him on transfers, and their success - or not - doesn't apply to Amartey, Slimani and Musa who were lined up with Walsh in charge of that side of the business.
Sly Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 CR is not unsackable. Ultimately, we're a fully functioning business, as much as some of you will hate to admit it. Giving Claudio a free pass because of last season isn't an option. We'll lose millions if we go down. That's not viable with the outputs. In terms of nett spend, you have to consider the wage uplifts. This will have dented the FFP, whether it still exists or not.
filthyfox Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 30mil net spent is not enough to keep us in this league.. look at Chelsea with their 30m player Ranieri should stay if we get relegated (show the magician some loyalty), but go if he can't get us back up again. I am not plastic- I am realistic
Moksky Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Hang on a minute, our net spend is more than double that, everyone is conveniently forgetting the huge contracts we put our players on to keep them. I'm sure he will freshen it up, players looked jaded , we had a relatively small squad when winning the PL and remained injury free, apart from long term absentee Matthew James. Claudio said himself a few weeks ago that we were in a relegation battle, it is a fact. I think a lot boils down to disappointment, and why we haven't kicked on have half a chance of Europa league next season. it is not time to 'sack' the manager , that's just absurd, he has not lost the dressing room like Mourinho did last term, far from it. As for wasting money, he doesn't make the decision on signings, he is consulted but does not have that decision. People who think he does do not understand how LCFC works.

He was going to one of our competitors ffs. We were without anyone in this department for weeks, if not months during what was our most important transfer window ever.

What staggers me is that hew we have a manager who has brought major success to this Club and all too quickly when the going gets tough folk jump on the 'get rid' bandwagon. Remember, Ranieri achieved more in one season than any manager before in the history of Leicester City. I suppose some will soon be saying bring back O'Neill or even Pearson!! *sigh* Last season has gone. Snd we haven't chopped and changed since the owners have taken full control we've had Sven gone, Pearson and then Claudio......so really only Person and Claudio have been in under full ownership under King Power. And the second point is so far so far this season we have been terrible...shocking...appalling...and embarrassing and I'm afraid last season stands for nothing if we don't build on it, you'll never be remembered if you collapse, how many people talk about Portsmouth winning the FA cup? Claudio has so far fallen on his face, "we tried out best" are you seriously happy with that following yesterday's shower of shit performance?

Claudio has so far fallen on his face, "we tried out best" are you seriously happy with that following yesterday's shower of shit performance? No, I and many others are not happy with the league performances but folk are too at ease to forget that we are, whatever happens, only one of six Clubs to lift the Premiership title. The fact remains the players have not performed this season and without going through the whole squad Zieler is not a patch on Kasper and far too many players who hit the mark last season and not firing this season. The likes of Simpson, Morgan, Huth, Albrighton, Vardy & Mahrez all fall into this category. As for the new signings I think it is to easy to throw serious money at untried players who have no Premiership experience and questions must be asked in that direction. I still say chopping and changing won't bring us a repeat of last season's success.
The Doctor Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 2 hours ago, Fox92 said: He shouldn't be sacked yet but he is showing very little to turn this around and that is worrying. The players don't even look bothered. Nobody is safe from getting sacked. Ask Mourinho - the man who delivered a first league title in 50 years. Poor start in 2006 and he was gone. That wasn't a poor start, it was a falling out over the role of new signings and whether abromavich was interfering too much on the playing side. He's built up massive amounts of good will, and deserves time to turn us around, and the lack of options in cm due to mendy's injury does give a bit of an excuse on the formation front, but with James and mendy nearly back, it's got to change soon, or he'll burn through all that good will
NeilLCFC Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 59 minutes ago, David Hankey said: "Poor management"!!? So this has nothing at all to do with the players' performances? Virtually the same team but lacking in so many ways. I think some of the players feel they have achieved the ultimate prize, winning the Premiership title, few will expect a repeat so why bother as I say the weight in their back pockets is clearly taking it's toll. As for relegation, that's pure speculation and will need to be addressed in the unlikely prospect of it happening. Of course it's poor management!! It's the job of the manager to get the best out of the team! We've seen what these players can do when managed correctly.
Guest Mickyblueeyes Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 1 hour ago, Moksky said: It's really disappointing to read this thread. We are in undeniably poor form, however we have players missing through injury and suspension. We also have found that a couple of our signings or replacements haven't come close to replacing Kante. So our recruitment hasn't quite worked, we can not say the club didn't try. However we have had CL to contend with , and due to our League Title success a mistake in the pre season match scheduling did not help. You do not call time on a manager or his staff who have hit a run of poor form. It's absurd, ask yourself did we do it with Pearson? It's not the solution, to bring in what exactly? Have some faith, he needs more time, and we can get some stability, yesterday hopefully was a low point in terms of performance. Equally I must say that our loyal support is still there, remember you couldn't get a ticket for love nor money, yesterday I couldn't give my tickets away for free. As 'supporters' we need to get behind the team and the manager, our support and atmosphere has been poor and getting worse. We know it will be difficult to emulate the atmosphere of last season for obvious reason, but it does visibly lift players. The owners will know the point at which Ranieri has lost the dressing room. It's nowhere near that time yet. I'm sorry but if he has not loss the dressing room than it is even more concerning. The performances, effort and general play are so poor that it makes you think whether he has any clue as to how to set up a team in this league. We are making stupid, childish mistakes every single game. The man has no idea as to how to lift the players. I genuinely think he lacks tactical expertise to do this. I also suspect his ability to make a judgement call is flawed. I don't want him in charge for January as to do not trust him or his team to invest the clubs money properly. The man led the greatest season of this clubs history but that does not make him unsackable or bigger than the club. The club matters. I couldn't give a toss what the owners want, what the manager wants or what the players want. They can all go and guess what we will still be crying into our drinks come Saturday night. The way the club has put itself out there this year is what i don't like. I don't like the direction we are heading. The Vardy missus thing on the Piers Morgan show also takes the piss. If ranieri doesn't fine him as much as he can then that's a bloody joke. She can support who she wants but don't plaster the name of our overpaid mercenary and insult us when your husband is earning his money in manner equivalent to a prostitute with a chastise belt with a combination lock attached. The whole thing is taking the piss and as usual, it's this club which suffers.
Sly Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 I'd say he's got until February time. Maybe until we're knock out of the Champions League realistically. Anyone who thought that just signing Mendy was a good idea was mistaken. I can only assume they thought that we'd got another option in the bag. It'll be Big Sam I'd imagine.

The players, to a man, were superb throughout last season. The manager hasn't changed but the players have. Ranieri or any manager can only select players from the squad he has available and who are fit. How they perform on the pitch is down to them and as I have said before far too many are thinking they've done enough after last season's epic performances and new, greatly improved contracts are weighing them down, Vardy, being a classic example.

RizLCFC Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Claudio needs to make a few brave decisions between now and January, try something different. If we are still performing like this mid Feb, having (hopefully) signed at least a CM and a CB, then I'll be worried. Here's how I see the current squad: Schmeichel - The sooner he's back the better. But, he can't stop us leaking goals on his own. Zieler - Yes he's no Schmeichel, he's not commanding, looks shaky with the ball at his feet, kicking isn't great, but he's made some decent saves. We aren't leaking goals because of him and he doesn't deserve to be a scapegoat. Simpson - Decent, but I did want us to sign a RB in the summer, namely Bruno Peres, gutted to miss out on him, but Simmo not the biggest worry. Morgan - Slow on the turn but still good enough to see out this season in the PL. Huth - Too slow, shocking with the ball at his feet, kills most attacking set plays by fouling opposition players. Needs replacing in January. Thank you for being the difference and keeping us up in 2014/15, and for last season, especially your goals away at Tottenham and Man City. Fuchs - No issues with him. Mahrez - The only creative outlet we have, we either hoof it long or give it to him and expect him to create every time, he's got at least 2 players marking him at once and looks frustrated, probably because of the lack of quality we have around him. Doesn't deserve the criticism he's getting. Drinkwater - POTS so far. Amartey - Too young, thrown in at the deep end, defensively poor, looks better going forward, but needs to be in a midfield 3 if we continue to play him. King - PL is not his level, but he can do a job with 20 mins left. Shouldn't be starting games at all. No need to sell, good squad player. Albrighton - Picked it up in last 2 games but crosses generally very poor and overall performance too, needs to be replaced by Gray. Gray - No idea why he's not starting! Okazaki - Most in form striker at the moment and should be starting, either as a CAM, being the link between mid and attack, or a ST. Musa - Has played as a CF, ST, RW and LW, struggled to adapt and I don't think moving him around has helped, definitely shouldn't be playing LW. He needs a run of games to get going, already shown he has an eye for goal. Tends to play well with Shinji and I think that partnership needs to be given a few games. Schlupp - Comical at times but I think his physicality and pace needs to be used soon. If we're taking Mahrez off with 20/25 mins to go then get this lad on. Yes, we should've sold him to WBA in the summer but that ship has sailed. Slimani - Offers something, general link up play is good but not during the first half yesterday. Doesn't look like a £30m player but with better service he can score plenty of goals. Vardy - Confidence has definitely gone. Don't think his effort is that big of an issue as people are making out. Like Slimani, thrives on decent service which we haven't got. Mendy - Seriously hope this guy has beaten his injury woes and we can see what he's about, no doubt we'd be better with a full fit Mendy alongside Drinkwater. Hernandes - Should replace Huth, looks like he reads the game well, and that long throw is a weapon.
Wymsey Posted 4 December 2016 Posted 4 December 2016 Have to say I thought the rise last season would continue up to now somewhat (no lower than 7th in table). However key things like the opposition changing their approach for no gain to certain players like Vardy, apparent loss of motivation from some, Ranieri unwilling to change certain components and fan expectation combined are probably all valid reasons for the loss of form. What annoys me most is Ranieri staying put with same old approach, as if his mind on the CL firmly himself and players mentality on this as well. So there could be an indicative coincidence here.

Look at it another way. You are the Sales Manager of a company selling Acme Widgets. Last year, you had to sell 50 Acme Widgets but your HR Director (Mr Walsh) found you a great sales person (Mr Kante) who sold a boat load more and sold 500!! Inspired by this a couple more of your sales team (AN Other) also gained confidence and you basically had the best 12 months of the companies history. After this period, the HR Director (Mr Walsh) and your top Sales Man (Mr Kante) realised they could earn more elsewhere and your company has limited growth. With no further scope to grow with the business, they went to pastures new. You're now left with out your HR Director, so have more of a direct input into recruitment. A job at which you sort of have a chequered history at. I mean, the guy you've employed to take over from Mr Kante only turns up to work half the time. Your sales team is deflated as the star sales person has done one and entering the new year, you've got a higher budget than last years performnce (600 widgets). Half of them think sod this, impossible task!! ......... I did get a nice pay rise though, so whatever happens, I'm quids in and I'll be alright!
