You must be the only one then. There is no effort at all, they don't look like that care. It's not that "things aren't clicking", it's just that we're shite.

I kept hearing the same things shouted around me yesterday "try", "fight" etc.

Even the MOTD team picked out how lazy we were and showed players like mahrez who could not be bothered to close down when Sunderland had space to cross.

Then it must be true. Mahrez not closing down has been an point of criticism since forever. Incidentally I remember at least two occasions where Mahrez retrieved the ball around our area, but that doesn't suit the 'lazy' argument.

If the team pick it up it's pretty evident.

Are you saying video evidence of laziness is not true?

We didn't close anyone down for the most part, gave everyone a mile of space.

You seem to be one of the only ones on the forum who think otherwise.

When Ranieri was given the job the owners asked him to stay if we got relegated to The Championship before the season started.

So after winning the title the owners will surely stick with him regardless.

I love Claudio and really hope he can turn things around, but we can't win the league one year and get relegated the next, he has to go if we haven't improved by the end of this month

Why are you giving Ranieri less time than Pearson?

Just a reminder: 2 years ago, we had 10 points after 14 games.

Between week 8 (at Newcastle) and week 18 (at home against Spurs)

we lost 10 out of 11.

Pearson did survive it.

Why?

My opinion:

1: The team were fighting for each other - it doesnt look like that at the moment

2: We were often unlucky not to get points in that run

3: It was our first year back up and we expected it to be tough. No one expected this year to be like last year, but even so, the fact there has been such a drop from top of the league to bottom of the league form is dramatic and worrying

Aside from the fact it was our first season back in the PL, 2 years ago we didn't have players on £100k p/w or a £30m striker. We've never looked this shite under Pearson and the players always looked like they cared.

Under Pearson, there was always a sense of direction even though he had no top flight experience. For all this talk of Ranieri still being such a top class manager, how can we look this clueless?!

I think he played the majority of the great escape season..... We were struggling (that's a better word beginning with s" for the majority of that season.... Then he got injured

Did you not see the Southampton "diamomd" in that season. Or the fact we didnt score a goal at home for months? The abject performance at Swansea that was beamed to millions around the country on that saturday night.

No you didnt. Because in your bizarre world, everything the club has ever done in its history was thanks to Pearson.

You cant even credit the title win to Ranieri. You somehow think he just inherited the best squad in the country and finessed them with a few quotes in the media to win the league.

Maybe you should ask why the majority of the players looked shit yesterday, considering they were all Pearson players. The same ones that dossed about at the bottom of the league season before last.

What's next...a vote of Confidence from the Owners and board for Ranieri? He's not getting a vote of confidence on here at the. moment, is it possible to add a "poll" to this thread, would like to see how we number on this on FT

That's a good one.

Under Pearson we played every week a new formation.

He tried all in the book and some, that he invented on

match day. That was madness.

Being manager of a PL team, he wanted to impress

the league with his tactical skills. New tactics for almost

every game. I am sure, the players loved it.

The only problem were the results.

Nobody's taking the title win away from Ranieri, relax your socks about that.

However, Pearson never got the chance to pick a side with Kanté, Okazaki and Fuchs in it. To be entirely fair, you'd have to ask yourself how Claudio would have got on with Cambiasso, Konchesky and Nugent in the side, and Drinkwater, James and Morgan (without Huth, for the majority of it) in their first Premiership season. Both Drinkwater and Schmeichel were astonishing last season, and it's my contention they had to go on a steep learning curve in an unforgiving league to get there. Be fair.

Surely the owners have higher ambition than being content with relegation the season after winning the league

Perhaps they've milked the cash cow dry and might sell up?

"Riding on the back of good work done by the previous regime" might have seen us finish in the top half, at a push.

Last season we became the first team other than Man City, Arsenal, Spurs, Man United, Liverpool and Chelsea to finish in the top 4 for over 10 years, and that in only our second season back at this level. That is absolutely incredible and something which gets lost by the absurdity of the title win.

Do you think Pearson could have had us in the top 6 even, let alone top 4? Never mind winning the whole thing by over 10 points. Never in a million years was Pearson tactically intelligent enough to change the width of the back 4 to make us harder to break through or get the best out of Mahrez.

Totally reductive to look at this year's results and use it as "proof" that our TITLE WIN last year was down to a man under whom we very nearly got relegated the previous season. I think NP's great and everything but what Ranieri did last year was totally incomparable to anything ever achieved before in the history of football.

Cracking argument to be fair.  I do think that we would have finished top 6 under Pearson...purely because of the Kante factor.

I just would like to know why all the fight seems to have been taken out of us, why we aren't pressing, why the quality seems to have disappeared, why Vardy and Mahrez seem uninterested, why we keep conceding the same goals from corners, why we keep punting aimless balls up field without appearing to be any thought.  Either the manager is sending the players out with these instructions or the players (the majority of which won the title last season) aren't playing for the manager.

Who else is there besides Claudio?  Don't give me Alladyce or Pearson BS either.

The biggest worry I have is that Shakey doesn't seem to be up and yelling any more, and really getting behind the players.  Wonder if it more a back room rift, that is causing the players to not really know what to do.  I'm also not season the touch line conversations amongst the coaches about what to do regarding tactics like last season.  Seems like Stowell is the one doing the briefings now.

I really worry that a lot of them are knackered more than anything.  Have some other thoughts too:

  • Morgan - played basically non-stop for 2 years with no breaks
  • Huth - getting on a bit and not had any breaks
  • Fuchs - a year older, had no real breaks and flying back and forth to NYC is knackering.  Don't care he is in business class etc.  5 hours time difference and flying back and forth gets to you after a sustained period
  • Riyad - not sure.  Just needs a break I think to get his mind right. Also might give us a chance to try something new, get a different tactic, let teams forget about triple teaming him and then when we bring him back, he might be more potent
  • Knowing our best attacking line and sticking with it.  Shinji plus one other and then play to strengths.  If Vardy, then stop long ball lumps.  If Slim, then get wide and whip it in for him to attack.  We seem stuck in between
  • Midfield woes - we definitely have to strengthen and it's not just DD coming back.  Looks like we are looking.  We really miss pace and mobility in the middle. Kante was special but he was mobile, we don't have anyone like that at the moment.  Amartey showing every week he will become a CB.  Kingy is Kingy.  DD is not going to run up and down, so needs someone with him to do that
  • Give Demerai a go

I think we should stick with CR but worried he does always have amazing first seasons and then tails off.  He seems like he has that new manager effect, but it lasts for a season.  Still have him over NFP.

He's a poor second season manager. Maybe Juve was an exception in a pretty poor Serie A season. Before any one does, please don't quote his second season at Monaco with one of the biggest transfer budgets in the whole of Europe. He still managed to finished well behind PSG.

He destroyed an Inter team Mourinho counquered Europe with. He wasted a shit load on Veron and Crespo at Chelsea despite various opinions at the time coming out and saying they lacked pace for the prem. Veron failed miserably at United for **** sake. He made one of the most catastrophic tactical mishaps in a champions league semi against a Monaco team led by one top player, Morientes. It was so daft, he is still laughed at for it. Mourinho's Porto showed just how poor they were in the final. What he did at Valencia after Benitez built an outstanding team should've had him arrested.

All this shows is when the the going gets tough Ranieri very rarely has the answers. Maybe Parma could be a positive time in his career...again, fell apart towards the end.

What is happening to our squad is simply what sociologists call a self fulfilling prophecy. you keep telling players they're shit and that by waking up in morning they've done their job...guess what, complacency kicks in and they start believing that's all they have to do. I've said it before I want him out because I don't like the direction he is taking us in and I believe this season shows him up the true qualities he possesses as a manager.

His ideas are dated. His philosophies are predicatable and his scouting/player recruitment policy show no structure.

No one is unsackable. I don't care what you've done in the past.Forest have still not recovered from keeping clough on too long.

He took over at Inter Milan over a year after Mourinho left and they had three managers (Benitez, Leonardo and Gasperini) between Mourinho leaving and Ranieri arriving.

Ok, maybe didn't destroy Mourinho's team but still failed miserably.
