How much longer does Claudio get a pass?

Don't see what's wrong with most of his signings individually, most would have shined last season in a team with confidence/effort. The club were very naive to think the long ball would work again. Ridiculously naive.

The club? The players? So Ranieri? How come he gets a free pass on your assessment?

......Longer than most are willing to give I think.

We have a very difficult first defence as first-time Champions what with Champions League in the mix.

The players are not playing to their best and the manager is not utilising what he has, and is not the great tactician I originally thought he was.

Too many factors to get an accurate gauge on the LCFC situation though.

Champions League, Premier League. player fatigue etc.

For God's sake though man, Kaputska may shine in this league for all you know! At least try him for some games!?

Really left-field but I would like to see Mahrez playing but with Gray backing him up. Don't know if it can be shoe-horned in but think it could work.

We've become too predictable.

Its about time the players gave a proper performance. Its about personal pride and their reputations too, its not just anything Ranieri may or may not be doing.

Hes already proved he is a quality manager. It would be ridiculous to sack a manager who was capable of winning the Premier League.

Some of Ranieri's decisions have contributed to our form, but he isnt the sole reason for our struggles and to pin all the blame onto him is unfair

Haha!.

Forgot to put my main point in there..that being, Ranieri is class and no thoughts of a sacking whatsoever should be entertained.

As long as we survive the league and fight well in Europe... I'm happy.

The result would be lessons learned for next season and no Champions League. I can live with that.......For now.

It was described as a bunch of mercenaries and rejects banding together and doing something amazing.

There's no way you look at our squad from last season and can come to the conclusion that it was great. It was the worst squad to have won the league ever and now that we've lost this desire and will to work for each other teams are playing us off the park every week.

Time to say thanks, but we we need to rip the core of this squad up and get rid.

Huth, Morgan, Simpson, Albrighton and Vardy - All heroes, but none can be arsed any more.

I find it odd how you can have such contrasting views about the players who were 'never that good anyway' apparently and the manager. You seem to have rushed to the extremes without much thought about how you got there.

I take the more rational view that both are capable of much more than this but are both woefully underperforming. Change needed from both.

His time is up for me. Strongly believe the achievement of last season was a result of planning and the work of the previous four seasons. Everything had clicked toward the end of the great escape season and we carried on that form last seasons. Ranieri has been unable to build on that, in fact we look worse than we did at anytime during the great escape season.

Nothing has shown me that Ranieri is able to turn this round, and it doesn't seem like the players care about making an effort for him and all the good work from previous season is being deystroyed.

This is what I have long suspected too and reckon inn hindsight more and more people will realise it as time goes on. Claudio is essentially a very, very lucky man. great post

The concern here is that CR seems unwilling or incapable of changing something - be that personnel, formation or both. I understand supporting his players and tactics from last year but he also seems to be underestimating a) how one note we have become and how easy it's been to work out b) the importance of changing to meet the limitations of our opposition. Yesterday - two massive CB yet still we still albrighton and co whipping crosses in.

My my only basis for comparison is this and I understand the obvious differences here - but I recently took over an under 12s team and watched them lose 4-0 one week, in my first game changed the formation to 332 making them more compact allowing a quicker passing game and closing the space in the middle, next game won 5-0.

For me we have the attacking talent to play a 4-3-2-1 and allow the 4 forwards to break with pace and allow the opposition, like last year a lot of the midfield, keeping the 6 compact. Musa, Gray and Shinji behind Vardy/Slim - mahrez needs a break.

I'm going to try to start a proper discussion on whether Ranieri needs to go, or not.

1. Why Ranieri should stay:

- he's got credit in the bank from our amazing feat last season. He's loved by the club and always will be for this.

- he knows the players well by now. I'm assuming he knows what to say to them.

- he's an experienced manager at pretty much all levels.

- we still have some very good players. If he can somehow make them tick again, we'll be fine.

- we are in the final 16 of the Champs League..which is awesome

2. Why Ranieri should go:

- he seems to have no plan B. He's playing the same way every game.

- he has players who are so off their game, it's unreal. Mahrez and Vardy in particular we all know can be devastating yet have been pretty awful this season

- his post match interviews are bollox really. He keeps smiling, saying the same things and shows no semblance of reality. This could be seen as a good thing (protecting the players) or a bad thing depending on how you see it

- he seems reticent to give players like Gray or Kaputska any sort of real go. I'd get that if we were playing well. But we aren't.

- our summer recruitment was unforgivable really. Not bringing in a good young central defender was bizarre. We seem like we were simply blasé about it.

Anyway, discuss....... stay, go, whatever.

I love the man, I really do. After reading his post match interview from yesterdays monstrosity I honestly don't know if he's the man to turn this around.

Yes we are through to the knockout rounds of the champions league but let's be honest it was a poverty group. Obviously what he'says achieved with us is nothing short of a miracle but for me that doesn't mean we should sacrifice our premier league status out of blind loyalty

By all means give him a couple more games but he has to show he can make big changes and inspire these players still

The only reason for him to stay is what we achieved last season.

The truth is that this management team and set of players will get us relegated if a change doesn't happen.

Chelsea had to sack a legendary title winning manager last year and whilst we're not on their level, it just shows that when it has to happen, there can be no room for sentiment.

I almost wish he had retired or resigned in the summer now.

Would have left a God and nothing would ever change that.

We look dreadful this season and as much as I don't want him sacked he's probably most to blame this season due to selection and formation

Posted

No one in their right mind would want Claudio to go however football is a results business, the Thai owners have invested millions, the earning potential from merchandise in thailand and asia is staggering and they will not allow relegation at any cost. I think Claudio's saving grace is the CL however If we get dumped out of the CL in Feb and we are in the bottom three or four I would be amazed if he is not shown the door.

He's so clueless I don't know what to attribute the title win too

He shows no sign of even knowing there's a problem, never mind how to solve it

So the question is, should he be sacked for being absolutely, cluelessly shite or should he be saved for last season

Last season won't keep us in the Premier League, it won't even keep us in the Championship & it certainly won't see us beat anybody better than Swansea in the Champions League

He has to change things immediately or himself be changed

I wish people would start to accept that we can get relegated. Keep hearing people say "We can't get relegated we are too good". Yea maybe on paper we look like a team too good for the drop but the way we are playing people need to wise up and accept we WILL get relegated if we continue as we are.

I absolutely love Ranieri. I certainly don't want to see him go.

BUT, if he continues to fail to change our system we will be relegated. We've been saying since Chelsea that 4-4-2 is dead. We are constantly over run in midfield it's embarrassing. How has he not wised up to this.

The players need a massive kick up the arse, no desire to close down and win the ball.

The Prem is our bread and butter. We have gone under the radar a bit with Swansea and palace being so poor. Just wait til the media starts kicking us when we r down. The pressure will be huge to escape the drop. If we don't stop the rot now then we will drop like a stone once pressure mounts.

What I want is Ranieri to stay and at least try to mix it up. At least try to change our approach.

Mahrez needs dropping to remind him he isn't a guaranteed starter. Okazaki needs to play every game he can from the start. Vardy is getting no service whatsoever. He will start scoring if he gets better service. Something Mahrez isn't doing. Gray has looked far superior.

Come on Ranieri. None of us want to see you go but if this continues then the owners will have no choice.

I think the real problem is recruitment, we didn't need Slimani, we had Ulloa who is perfectly capable(he was our top scorer the season before), we should have got N'Zonzi/Wanyama and Keane, we constantly look at individuals, but they are only as good as the team, it is a team game after all, Kanté covered any shortcomings Huth and Morgan have, he won the ball a lot, before we needed them to defend, our high ball recovery instilled confidence in the forwards as they knew, if they missed an opportunity there would be more, this season that just isn't the case, he is culpable for not identifying this by now, I don't have the answers but 4-4-2 simply will not work, with the personnel at our disposal. There has been an attitude change by some individuals, but winning breeds a positive attitude, I do think we are in trouble and to everyone thinking January will solve our problems, well great signings are rarely made in January, so I am not pinning my hopes on that, Ranieri to go? Not for me, I don't think a new Manager is the answer to our problems.

What an absolutely disgusting topic; should Ranieri be sacked or not. Oh yea of the short memory.

If anyone should be "sacked" start with some of the players. It is obvious to me that they are burdened by the extra weight in their back pockets with new contracts and additional cash!!

It is extremely hard to criticize Ranieri after last season's remarkable achievement  and folk would do better to get behind the Club and argue constructively but to suggest the manager should be sacked is absolute piffle!!

Astounded when I read crap like this.

Winning the league with Chelsea and winning the league with Leicester aren't even in the same ballpark as far as achievements go.

At an absolutely minimum he deserves another transfer window and a bit of time to see how those transfers bed in. So basically for him to go while we are still in the Chanpions League is something I would find harder to swallow than our current form. At the same time I acknowledge the frustration at his seeming unwillingness to change a system that clearly isn't working.

For my part I would rather see us stick with him and go down, than take a gamble with someone else, which may or may not work out.

As bad as things are you people seem to forget that a couple of wins will have us sitting in mid table. We definitely aren't cut adrift at the bottom yet.

Where the hell were all these people when we were in the lower leagues and saw some of the crap we used to play?!?!?!

We are having a bad run of form for **** sake, anyone on this forum would have licked claudios bum hole clean after a runny poo last season they loved him that much now you lot are saying he is clueless?!?!

Yesterday we played the best football in the league for a few weeks and it's looking positive, the players played better, we are 7 points from 6th place (without checking) that's nothing in terms of how long the season is

There is still over half the season left with players to come back from injury/suspension and in Jan we are getting new players in

CALM THE DUCK DOWN EVERYONE!!!!

Why Ranieri should stay.

To add to col city fans post,

Injuries and suspensions to key men. Give him more time, because when drinkwater,  schmeichal, and mendy play again I think we will be a better side.

Why Ranieri should go,

442

Unstinting loyalty to last season's success.

All of Col city's points.

My team that I would pick now and its only an opionion.

Schmeichal, Simpson, Hernandez, Morgan, fuchs.

Mendy, drinkwater, James (if we can get him playing well again)

Okazaki

Slimani  musa

For me the Porto game is really important it's a chance for Ranieri to try Gray and bring kapustka onto the bench.

Just try something different than 442.

But it is constructive. He's showing no signs of changing this and keeps saying we're playing well. It's poor management, simple as that

Would you chanel your tune if he got us relegated?

I hate to hear the term of ranieri being sacked, he's an absolute legend at our club and always will be but last season has gone now.

I'm sure all us fans can accept a mediocre season this year but at the minute it's much worse than that and has been for weeks. we're lucky not to be in the bottom 3 currently and it's only because others are as bad.

It's been poor most of the season particularly away from home but the last 4 games have been a disgrace I'm afraid and whilst the players need to look in the mirror, the buck stops with the manager.

Not to mention bang average recruitment as well, he's spent alot of money which won't help him
