CLAUDIO: "We did our best today, but it wasn't enough. We have to keep working hard in training and trust the bad moment will turn."

He has lost the plot

Time to go

Christ this sounds like Micky Adams. The boys tried hard and we'll get back to the training ground etc etc!

Fair enough, but the Thais were incredibly naive to let the under contract Walsh leave without a suitable replacement. He was going to one of our competitors ffs.

We were without anyone in this department for weeks, if not

months during what was our most important transfer window ever.

It was weeks, after we'd done all of our main business.

We might now be missing Walsh for other reasons, but we can't be missing his scouting yet.

If anything, it's his signings that are proving not to be as good as we'd hoped, and it could be seen as his fault for failing to identify a decent centre back to replace Morgan or Huth who are obviously getting old.

Just because Walsh chose to jump ship very late in the window doesn't absolve him of any blame for poor summer recruitment.

So Ranieri bemoans lack of luck. The ref yesterday did all he could to save our behinds, notably by not giving a penalty against Simpson, not blowing for a foul on every occasion that Morgan did his usual OTT wrestling and dishing out several soft yellows for Sunderland. Luck is NOT something we've been short on this season in general.

Ranieri might be talking things up, but he's not doing much to inspire confidence he can get us out of this rot.

The players' heads visibly went down as Sunderland scored and we looked ponderous and frustrated throughout. Didn't think the players showed a lack of effort, but the play was so laborious and disjointed. THAT is Ranieri's job to sort that out, but we're still persisting with the same formation and largely same personnel. And that's not acceptable.

Exactly.

He is responsible for those shit signings - earlier in the thread people were blaming CR for them.

For everyone who says Claudio was lucky to inherit our club:

YOU DO NOT WIN THE TITLE "RIDING OFF THE BACK" OF SOMEONE WHOS TEAM BARELY AVOIDED RELEGATION.

WINNING THE LEAGUE IS NOT A NATURAL PROGRESSION FROM A RELEGATION BATTLE.

He might not be doing the best of jobs at the moment, and doesnt look like he has the answer at the moment, but FFS he has proven he is a top quality manager already and has proven he DOES have the answers in what hes done already.

If only take Big Sam from that list. The others are too 'Ranieri' like. We just need to accept we are Leicester and last year was a miracle. We need to re-build after this year and I think giving everyone a new contract was a massive mistake. we will have to have a fire sale if we go down, but who will be willing to pay Vardy, Kasper, Slimani wages etc?

I'd like a manager who always expects the best from the players, not nige now but someone similar, I'd go for Sean Dyche

Not more 4-4-2 please lol

Agree but I question the mentality of the players. When he joined we'd just stayed up and for those three or four months the players confidence was high with a good mentality, and that continued into last season. Nothing went wrong at all for Claudio last season. Now things are going wrong he looks like he is currently incapable of changing/turning it around.

I have to admit, I fear the axe if we are still in this position by mid/end january.

Hope Ranieri can turn it round but he needs to pull his finger out and stop making excuses for everyone.

Im glad you mentionned the mentality of the players.

They need to stop hiding and start playing. Right now.

Instead of being little Weasel's who will happily take all the credit when things are going well and take the plaudits for winning the league, they need to front up and put some performances in and stop hiding behind excuses.

Claudio sounds relaxed in the media because he is very protective of the players, and he is also a gentleman. Behind closed doors im sure theyve had a rocket, and a rocket from someone like Shakespeare too who was not even part of Claudios staff that he brought in.

And if its a lack of talent at the club, two things.

Firstly, a lot of these signings had been sounded out way before Walsh left. We had been linked with Musa in the title winning season, we had been linked with Slimani right back to the Pearson days, Demarai Gray was brought before Walsh left and looks good, Amartey came whie Walsh was here, so its not all Claudio's fault. If youre aying all the blame for signings at his door, youre saying Walsh had nothing to do with the signings that have gone wrong.

Secondly, If Claudio won the league with a team that was mostly, and still IS (from yesterdays team), someone elses complete donkeys (as their recent performances are showing) then he is even more of a top class manager to have done what he did.

And we required the 'great escape' because our previous manager proved himself excellent in turning things around for how long that season. (And I might add two seasons earlier).  anyone who thinks big nige is the answer ?  He isn't.

Did I say Pearson was the answer?

I'm just comparing previous seasons. The players don't look like they care at the minute yet the manager keeps rolling out the same shite selection and tactics every week.

Haha I thought that, was half expecting to read that we'd be re-doubling our efforts in training and they're a smashing bunch of chaps.

Was just quoting you to illustrate that the previous manager had the even worse issues with the rump of the same squad.

This is what I have long suspected too and reckon inn hindsight more and more people will realise it as time goes on. Claudio is essentially a very, very lucky man. great post

Nonsense. Absolute hogwash. Whether or not you think he is the man to get us out of relegation trouble is one thing. But to dismiss him as 'very lucky' when he won the fvcking Premier League for Leicester City is insane.

Pisses me off, in honesty.

The owners will not want it to slide much further, we just cannot afford to go down and Claudio as much as we all love him it is a business and we are in danger of losing our assets especially if we go down. If the club needs to act it should act, I am not saying I want Claudio gone far from it all I am saying is we have a lot to lose and it is wether the people that matter can make these decisions while not panicking

I don't agree. There was effort yesterday, but things are not clicking. It leads to frustration and a lack of confidence, which in turn results in collective and individual mistakes. They looked bewildered and shell-shocked more than anything to find themselves in this position again so soon after being crowned champions.

He looked anything but relaxed yesterday. He was twitchy and uneasy and clearly didn't like facing slightly critical questions. He was saying he and the staff (and players?) had been talking and would be talking (about the situation), but this is where he has to show balls and leadership. He constantly preaches about 'reaction'. Well where is his 'reaction' to all this? Last season he made tweaks to the formation and play style, this year he has been completely passive and indecisive. One moment starting Amartey, then King, Musa gets a chance then he's benched. Same with Okazaki and Hernandez, while a £7,5 mil player not even featuring on the bench or playing in the cup is so bewildering.
The great chemistry between Mahrez and Vardy has evaporated into thin air. Why? Our most potent players have been completely nullified, yet judging by our performances, this is not getting addressed. He's persisting with both despite subpar performances. When has Vardy last looked dangerous? Ranieri just constantly defends him, which is OK for a while, but this is getting more than a little bemusing.

I love Claudio and really hope he can turn things around, but we can't win the league one year and get relegated the next, he has to go if we haven't improved by the end of this month

Some interesting posts in here amongst some garbage.

This is it for me..... as well as naff recruitment and amazingly poor form from many players, we've also been unlucky. Mendy ain't played and Drinkwater was either gonna get banned or injured with all the fookin games he was being told to play.

So, we've had to play a very poor midfield at this level.

I'll judge Ranieri If and when we have a proper midfield (I find it amusing even having to say this..we are a Premiership football team and Champions of England, having to field both King and Amartey). If Mendy gets fit and when Drinkwater gets back we STILL look as shocking, we need to be thinking about making a change of manager. That would tell me that there's something else going on.

What I'm hoping is that we do get these two back quickly and then we start to look a proper football team again. It's my feeling that if we weren't fielding a Mickey Mouse midfield, the whole team would look better. It might be the kick up the arris they all need.

It's always a roller coaster following Leicester but this is taking it to another level, give him till xmas if we've not got another 10 points get rid. The King Power name will be tarnished for years to come if we go down after the best season possible last season.

It's the worst time for Mendy to get injured when he did, because I 100% agree with what you've said, but the timing just isnt gonna work out.

We have to give Mendy 10 games before we properly judge him, it's bad enough he's never played in England and not experienced with Drinkwater as a partner, but to add to that a long injury.

Worst case scenario if Mendy does not fit in or does not have the confidence due to Ranieri still not being able to turn it around, by the time we can really make that judgement we will have missed January and have to look for a new manager whilst perilously close to the bottom 3.

I think we need to strengthen with no less than 4 first team players, a left winger, a CB, a battling midfielder (ndidi) and a CAM.

I dont think with the way we have leveraged ourselves with expenditure on wages we can afford to go down, even Wes Morgan is on too high a wage for the championship.

It's a difficult time for us at the moment and the decisions made in the next 2 months will be a roll of the dice, stick or twist.

I'd prefer stick but Ranieri HAS to sort this problem out, I don't care about confidence, just some effort would be a start.

You must be the only one then. There is no effort at all, they don't look like that care. It's not that "things aren't clicking", it's just that we're shite.

I kept hearing the same things shouted around me yesterday "try", "fight" etc.

I must be, huh? Again, I thought there was effort, but everything pales in comparison to last season and the great escape. It's frankly simplistic to say there's "no effort".
