norwichfox Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 I'd take Roberto Mancini, he never finished the job he came to do here as a player, but I would like to see him get a chance to manage, we have quite a good record with Italian managers

He's playing the same way, and generally losing, week in week out. I'm going to go against emotion and try to look at this logically: 1. We have a dog shit midfield 2. We leak goals like a seive 3. We've just lost again, this time to the bottom side 4. We have a strike force that look devoid of confidence 5. We have got one point away from home, all season. 6. We aren't giving the young uns any chance. Kaputska, Gray, Chilwell If we are near bottom at Christmas, I'd be looking to get Allardyce in. We do not want to get relegated. If we keep playing like this, we will be. Spot on. Personally - and with real sadness - I don't think CR can turn this around. I would really like him to leave with dignity and the memories of last season. But if he doesn't I believe the sooner we make the change the better it will be

Pearson constantly played 4-4-2, despite it not working, much the same as Ranieri at the moment. Under Pearson we were playing to stay in games, rather than playing to win them. It took until shit or bust time, for Pearson to really go for it in games. Not because of any tactical master stroke from Pearson, but because he had no choice than to go that way. He was interviewed on Sky in the early part of last season, where he said exactly that himself, and that he didn`t believe you could play that way normaly, but that in the premier league, you had to make sure you stayed in games. What that tells me, is that Pearson had learnt nothing from the Great Escape season, and that had he still been our manager last season, he would have gone back to his negative, stay in the game tactics, which would probably have seen us in another relegation battle, rather than the title winning season!

Although saying that I would give Ranieri until the boxing day match against Everton. if performances have not improved by that point then I think that he has to go.
crazyleicester Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 Its such a daft question. The bloke just won us the league maaaan!! He can do as he pleases in my eyes. However, CR has given last seasons players enough chance to find last seasons form. They havent found it. That means that Gray, Kapusta and maybe even Hernandez need a run. It may even mean Chilwell given a go and Mendy. I know the latter two are injured or have been but its time to let the squad show what they can do. CR cant keep doing the same thing over and over and expect the results to come because of loyalty. We can all speculate on the reason why we are stumbling in the league but I still stand by the fact that they have gone a bit soft after getting bumper contracts and even free cars and thats after an idiotic pre-season. I know all these things were done in good faith but we didnt start this season with that old Rocky "eye of the tiger". Also, Ive never known players go from playing at 100% of their abilities to 70% and that is a massive problem. Still, we have the squad, we have some cash to spend but we need to move on the likes of Ulloa and Schlupp and add some quality for the second half of the season. Oh BTW, please hurry back Kasper and DD!!!
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 Ranieri definitely needs questions asked... He is getting a pass at the moment ....getting away with all decisions he makes no questions asked. Can't understand how he can stick with out two man midfield consisting of king and amartey.

This was supposed to be our easy run where we picked it up a bit, but the performances and results keep getting worse. For me, he needs to show that he's got some sort of idea on how to put it right. We're not playing to our strengths, and we just don't look like scoring, never mind winning. We need change- if Claudio can't implement it, maybe the owners need to? He's not on his last legs yet, but he needs to put it right soon. Nope, we were actually bottom with 10 points, at this point in 2014/15, in fact it was another 5 games until we had accumulated 13 points.

Were you saying we should get rid of Pearson, because of the utter dross we were churning out under him at that time? It`s amazing how many Pearson lovers have come out of the woodwork all of a sudden! we looked better during that shit run under pearson than we do it at the moment, there were signs we were getting unlucky, there is nothing at the moment

If it's an abysmal squad then look no further than his recruitment and his tactical and motivation skills . Ranieri must and will be replaced . NOW CLOSE THREAD.
SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 The main problem with ranieri is that he got accolades last season from all around the world for reinvigorating the 442 and quick early passes in transition etc. Took a bunch of no hopers to champions..... The problem now is that he feela he has to justify what he discovered last season.... Otherwise he loses credibility and basically we put it down to Kante and good fortune. Ranieri needs to think long and hard about this and drop his ego for the betterment of this team

These guys won him a title that no one thought we could realistically win. Resigning the likes of Waso and not selling Ulloa and Schlupp was more to do with keeping the group together and helping the new signings blend in. Unfortunately, as much as those players performed miracles for him last season they have let him down this season. Its a few months into the season so that to me is enough time to trust them. It may mean a mini overhaul with Huth, Wes, Kingy, Albrighton being top of the hit list but he has to change things. Once again Im not being critical as he had to keep faith with them after last seasons exploits but now is the time to maybe change personnel.

filbertway Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 If Ranieri was to go, I'd like to see us go for the Hoffenheim gaffer. Could be a bit of a risk as the only club he's managed at is Hoffenheim, rising through their youths, reserves and now managing. Currently working wonders there though.

SpinneyHillRanger Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 These players basically reached the pinnacle of their achievements and now hunger has gone. Like Roseberg in F1.... Except these guys never ever thought they would be able to achieve what they did... They've been given way too much reward for that and now have lost all hunger and fight which we showed in our previous two seasons in abundance ... It has now dissapeared. Thais and ranieri share some blame. You can't stick with king and amartey in a two man midfield and expect to beat premier league teams
daddylonglegs Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 why is this even being discussed ffs. He won us a premier league title in an era of City, United, Liverpool, Chelsea et all spunking money all over the shop. He's a genius. I'm absolutely sure he'll change it up next week. Positive.

Oxshottfox Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 Wow, the Tottenham forum must be loving referincing this thread. yes, we are terrible at the moment and the performances abject but when did anyone ever think Leicester would win the premier league? These are heady days and we should enjoy them. I know (after 30 years of supporting Leicester) that we are far happier moaning than reflecting on how lucky we are but let's just give ranieri a chance and bask in the glory of a one off, fantastic experience. something Tottenham will never have

Guest Col city fan Posted 3 December 2016 Posted 3 December 2016 IF Ranieri gets the push (he won't), the replacement needs to be Big Sam. What we don't want is to be pissing about with bloody Roberto Di Matteo, the gaffer from Hoffenheim or any other geezer. We would need a manager to come in who knows the league, knows how to turn around an ailing side, and ultimately, who knows how to keep a team up. Cos that would be his remit.

Now I really don't feel we could beat anyone at the moment. This team is not a team at the moment. I agree that things are certainly not clicking at the moment. The performance levels of most of the players, probably with the exception of Drinkwater and Kasper has dropped alarmingly. Vardy and Slimani just dont even look like they can play together at the moment, and Mahrez really don`t look to be bothered. The midfield area is a disaster zone, even more so without Drinkwater of course, and going 3 in midfield is certainly something Ranieri should be looking at in my opinion. Having said all that, i remember those 13 games without a win under Pearson only too well, and we barely registered a shot in many of those games, and i certainly wasn`t thinking that we were close to getting anything from those games.
