King is bang average and Drinkwater looks knackered. Our midfield is Championship quality. Okay, so they're average. Who is below average then? My point being that you seem to keep focusing on people like King and Amartey and Gray, who you obviously don't like very much, but who aren't obviously at the heart of our problems.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 The strikers that work well for us are the ones that drop deep and try and collect the ball. Our service is pits.
Anish Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 We've got massive problems and Ranieri is not helping with his questionable team selection and tactics. Our formation hasn't worked all season but he persists with 4-4-2. Our midfield has been ineffective and Amartey and Albrighton have offered nothing all season. Then you move on to Slimani, who's done nothing for months and can't jump. We don't look like scoring or creating chances and Ranieri brings off our brightest attacker in Gray. Our midfield has been crying out for somebody who can look up and pass a ball, yet Mendy and James (our only other midfielders who can pass forward) aren't getting any game time. Ranieri is definitely living off last season's achievements. If we put that to one side, he would be in major trouble.

No striker has ever done well without service. We need creativity so, so desperately. You can't beat the 'no service' drum forever. I quite like Slimani and want him to do well, and granted, the service to him could and should be better - but let's not pretend he didn't see plenty of the ball today. He did. Unfortunately, his management of it was atrocious - his touch was off and his passing was very, very weak. He can't have the ball slap on his fod every single time, no striker can / does. We tracked him for ages and he's clearly got something about him, but today was inexcusable and he just wasn't good whatsoever, there's no getting around it.

I don't want to get into a debate with you. It'll go over four pages. Where we differ is that I believe, as I have done all season, is that our midfield is EXACTLY at the heart of our problems. The rest of the body is ill too, I admit, but the beating heart of any football team is it's midfield. Ours needs a pacemaker.
TheUltimateWinner Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Ranieri just said Gray got taken off to maintain our shape. its our shape that's the ****ing problem

TheUltimateWinner Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Ranieri also said he isn't disappointed as we were in control until we conceded.
Witch Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Without the midfield functioning properly we won't have neither usable attack or defence line. Many weaknesses of our defence stems from the fact that they are constantly exposed and with no support from midfield. Our centerbacks would look much less crappy if they had some help there, they cannot clean all the shit by themselves all the time. Well, if some of them would at least try to do their job that also would help, and I'm looking at you, Wesley Morgan.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Danny Amartey has definitely been through Mrs Col

Heart-Shaped Fox Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Chillwell excellent. Ulloa tried hard. Amartey decent. Schmeichel blameless. Everyone else wank. Ranieri continually making strange decisions. Half time sub unnecessary and Gray coming off was baffling. Mahrez took ages to even get the ball and then did ****ing nothing with it. Stop doing stupid flicks and tricks when we're losing a game ffs. Do that when two or three up. As for Slimani... I mean Sillymoney....personally think Ulloa is not only as good but better. Actually came on and passed the ball and put in a shift. Slimani looks lazy and sluggish. Defending for first goal sort of thing you see on Viccy Park tomorrow not in a premier game. Everton were shite too and should have been nil nil. Oh and although he didn't have an effect on the result Attwell is still a big ****. Sort it out Claudio please. West Ham plating well and will be rubbing their hands at thought of playing us right now
Izzy Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 So to summarise this thread: Our defence is shit and we're conceding for fun. Our midfield is lightweight and creating nothing. Our forwards are lacking and out of form. Our Manager is clueless, stubborn and doesn't know how to fix it. So we're pretty fvcked really. Sounds like our only hope is to pray that there are three teams in a worse state than we are.
adam Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 That was a shambles from start to finish. From the managers team selection to his substitutions. What was he doing taking Gray off. Everton were shit but we.we're worse. How many times does he have to sub okazaki off at home at half time until he realises he isn't up to it at home. Madness.

Which players are you saying Ranieri signed from today? I am not defending todays performance but the only one playing today that he signed was Gray - you need to get your facts right mate. All other new signings were those of Steve Walsh.

Callabinho Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 So many things wrong with today that many people have already highlighted...but Claudio really let himself down, completely moronic substitutions which lost us the game. It also really highlighs how poor our recruitment has been in the summer (again), absolutely no strength in our depth. I'm afraid we need a something of a miracle on January, because as things stand we are looking like we're on the ropes in a relegation dog fight with only Swansea worse off than ourselves.

Slimani isn't a technical footballer whatsoever, we all know that. We've had about 10 crosses into the box and not one found Slimani. If Slimani was missing chances then he'd deserve this much stick. Albrighton, Gray and Mahrez were all just as poor. Yet somehow avoid criticism.
sdb Posted 26 December 2016 Posted 26 December 2016 Oh dear. Glad I couldn't make it. Sounds like we went back to the long ball, no press gameplan that has seen us lose every other game we've tried that in over the last few months (most). We'll finish bottom 5 I'm certain. Just need to hope the bottom 3 keep faith in their useless managers/squads. Lets hope a 19 year old from a weak league can save us...
