Start Chilwell in Midfield

Think Saturday should put Chilwell in a four man midfield alongside Mahrez Drinkwater and Mendy

He would play in front of Fuchs and add more bite in midfield and be strong going forward

This is something I suggested a while back. you could even go with Chilwell as the full back and Fuchs in midfield. He might score another special goal for us.

This would also allow us to play Albrighton on the right behind Mahrez. Now I'm getting excited.

Moses at Chelsea and Milner at Liverpool aren't doing too badly!

Moses isn't playing too far out of position. He's a winger, who would have had a degree of defensive responsibility, now he's a wing back being asked to attack and defend. Milner is a vastly experienced international player, who's played hundreds of top flight games and internationals. Chilwell is a 19 year old kid who's played 1 premier league match and it's being suggested play a totally alien position. Completely different scenarios.

Neither are 20 years old with 1 premier league appearance.

This is a classic FT member says play a 20yo out of position.

Manager plays player out of position FT slag him off after loss.

Personally I think FT needs a winter break. Say from January 1st u till August 31st.

The festive booze should have worn off lollol

Prefer Albrighton myself if we're going for low possession still

I would rather we tried him at right back if we have to play him out of position.

This guy has one mediocre game in defence and now people want him playing all over the pitch. Why?

If Ranieri played players in their proper positions and changed formation things would be much better.

Start just him, Chillwell V West Ham on his own and if that doesn't work sub him, sell him to Cov for a Curly Wurly and then we can move on to our true savour, Harvey Barnes.

Why don't we stick Filbert in goal? His big fox head might stop more goals from going in

Have you ever seen him in goal for a kids shoot out?!?! Bench ahead of Zieler at best for me.

Yeah, but both are very experienced players. At club and national level.

Chilwell is just 20!!

I was simply responding to the point that playing someone out of position rarely works.

I actually think Chilwell would be able cope with a left wing role tbf, he can attack well and defensively there would be slightly less pressure on him. I'm not bothered by his age, and he'd have Fuchs there to help. I don't think Ranieri would do it though. I expect Chilwell to be back on the bench on Saturday.

Playing players out of position literally almost always never works

Can't be doing any worse than we already are though can we ?

Zieler and Kasper up front might work as well.

Slimani at RB is the obvious choice.

It does rarely work.

Just because you've managed to think of two examples where it has worked doesn't out weigh the numerous it is attempted and doesn't work at all.

Besides as stated Moses is hardly playing out of position, you don't often get a player who is a out and out "wing back" there either full backs or wingers being asked to do a slightly adjusted job, depending on which type of player you pick donates how much defending/attacking you will get out of them.

I agree bale was a weak not poor just weak in development of muscles fot left back. But look at him when they put his pace to use going forward.  Get it done claudio

I'm probably going to be shot down here but....

I went to the Everton game and yes I agree that Chilwell is a very exciting prospect for the future.

However I think a few people are getting carried away. Chilwell made a fantastic run in the first half and managed a cross that was really dangerous but after this I saw quite a few head scratching plays from him. A few times he stormed forward and was really not in control of the ball but the fans were loving him as they like to see passion and effort. The ball was rebounding everywhere and he was lucky he didn't lose the ball earlier on one occasion. It seemed like he didn't really know what he was doing, just run with it and fingers crossed... Another occasion he bombed forward and wasn't even found and left us totally exposed on the left because Abrighton was in possession (the person who should cover him if he does bomb forward) Abrighton inevertably lost the ball and were lucky we didn't get punished further... Chilwell's decision to go for a run forward when Abrighton was in possession was pure inexperience. Again the fans just appreciated the effort.

I really do think he's going to develop in to an excellent player over the coming years but I'd have Fuchs over him any day of the week and a definite no in midfield. Chilwell still has lots to learn.

Gotta say I agree, I think he had an average game and like you say has a lot to learn, Albrighton was part of the reason he had a successful game numerous times Albrighton was pointing and shouting to Chilwell where to position etc, which is exactly what he needed some support on that front, however of course no one will really give Albrighton credit as he's shit going forward, the issue is if he was as good going forward as he is defensively and work rate wise he wouldn't be here as he would probably be at a much bigger club

You laugh at this but I was on PES17 yesterday and accidentally stuck him there, Rated 67 which isn't too shabby.
