Chico1958 Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Loved him in a Blue shirt for a while. No. he's moved on and so have we. Best of luck to him though and Brighton of course

An interview in which Knockaert was vastly misquoted and things got lost in translation. I think I put the correct translation up here for reference at some point.

The amount of people who think we just got rid, because he 'wasn't good enough' is pretty staggering. He left us to spend time with his ill dad. Who sadly passed away. Now he's back with unfinished business. Fair play to the lad. I'd have him back in a heartbeat. I think the same happened with Paul Gallagher when he went to preston.

Guest Mee-9 Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Another Pearson masterstroke letting him leave... What a daft mistake.

But we also starved him of game time (how many minutes did he get in the PL again?), and I imagine the contract offer would have been nowhere near what others were receiving. We may have offered him a contract, but I don't think Pearson ever had any intentions of letting him do anything else but make the odd cameo. People may say "he wasn't good enough for the Prem" - How do you know? He never got a fair shot.

Babylon Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Funny that we've got four old players in the champ (well ones still with us), that would probably cost you £30m+ to buy on current form.
LCFC FOX Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Pearson was the reason he left, if Claudio came in earlier he'd of stayed

That's his prerogative and choice, but let's get it right with Knockaert. Had he stayed he might have seen more game time the following season. Albrighton didn't play until Christmas, and Drinkwater & Mahrez weren't guaranteed starters in 14/15, albeit they played more than Knockaert. Pearson was the guy who initially signed him and brought him to England, and he didn't let Knockaert go. I wish him well at Brighton and hope they come up but I'm not sure why some people act like we're paying a big price for the fact that Knockaert isn't still with us. I think we've done rather well without him.

Corky Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Why are you all blaming Pearson when Cambiasso ran the team that season?
dynamark Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Please do not underestimate what AK did for the team back in the depths of the championship. He got everybody else involved in playing some decent possession football.Always available and his confidence rubbed of on the rest..Some great goals top man .Assuming we are in the same division next year we should let him drive his sheep through the city

Now we are struggling and he's scoring we should bring him back? Nobody called for him to come back last season remember? Just because we are struggling don't mean you go back to a player who didn't cut it at this level last time. Hes not the answer. Never go back they say. Our players were performing better than Knockaert last year, this year Knockaert is performing better than them, it's only natural to want a player who's playing better than ours.

Reminder that he's playing in the Championship. Vardy would score 20 goals with his eyes closed in that division.
Kitchandro Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 I always maintained he'd be a good squad player at this level if played centrally. But if we really have the ambitions that we should have after last season he wouldn't be a starter. I will always love him though.
Kitchandro Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 I think it is a fair point however that we have not exactly been bringing in players that are better than him in the last year (Gray aside).

Wouid he? Because he had 2 seasons in that division, and didn't score 20 goals either time. Unless you're suggesting that Jamie Vardy is a better player when he has his eyes closed, but I'm not sure there's much evidence to support that hypothesis.

I'm suggesting that Vardy is too good for the Championship now. This current Leicester team with its flaws would steamroll the Championship and break the 100 point record again. Knockaert killing it in that league doesn't equate him performing better than our players, because Knockaert is currently playing against vastly inferior opposition than we are. By that logic Liam Moore is performing better than Robert Huth.
