Ian W LCFC Posted 20 January 2017 Posted 20 January 2017 Was my favourite player when he was here. Rooting for Brighton to get promotion now. Here's his first goal by the way: https://streamable.com/g3n4n
Jonno84 Posted 20 January 2017 Posted 20 January 2017 We should have kept him.seemed like a sound lad.there's a hair dressers in town that has a picture of him visiting there.

He has great talent and workrate, but physically, especially when defending he is a liability at Premier level. I loved him, still do, but we can't sign players baised on sentiment. I agree, but I would call it the David Nugent syndrome. Decent in the championship but found wanting in the Premier League and swiftly loaned back/sold to the championship. Repeat.

Guest CityFan 06 Posted 20 January 2017 Posted 20 January 2017 He will always be a player who has fond likeness of our fan base/club and vise versa. On his day he always had it in him to be outstanding. Looks like he's coming back to the top flight with Brighton. Good luck to him, thoroughly deserves it.
Koke Posted 20 January 2017 Posted 20 January 2017 I think we've done more than well since he left us. BTW, we didn't let him go. He refused to sign a new contract and left on a free.

Miquel The Work Geordie Posted 20 January 2017 Posted 20 January 2017 Ahahhahaha people saying we should've kept him. WE WON THE ****ING LEAGUE LAST YEAR. He's doing very well at Brighton and we're all absolutely chuffed for him, but was massively out of his depth in 14/15, and I say that as someone who loves him to pieces.
limeydale Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Can he score a peno yet? And he's still greedy with the ball.

Championship player at best atm, if Brighton get promoted and he ends up doing well in the Prem then good for him So you came to that conclusion from his 3 starts, one of which he only played for an hour, his 6 sub appearances, usually coming on for 10 or 15 minutes towards the end of the game, and his grand total 330 minutes of Premier League football, did you?

He refused to sign a new contract and left on a free. He left because he wasn`t being given a chance by the then manager, despite us being abysmal for most of that season. Lets be right here, it took until after christmas for Albrighton to be given a decent run in the team, which along with a much needed change of system, and the arrival of Huth, coincided with an upturn in our fortunes!
themightyfin Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Where was the riot when he left? Nobody seemed to care too much then. Now we are struggling and he's scoring we should bring him back? Nobody called for him to come back last season remember? Just because we are struggling don't mean you go back to a player who didn't cut it at this level last time. Hes not the answer. Never go back they say.
EnglishOxide Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Anybody who calls him shit at PL level needs their head checking and needs to look at the shite in the bottom half of the table. He played only a couple of times for us and was no worse than Mahrez in his first venture playing at that level. Clearly the manager didn't fancy playing him, but that happens to lots of good players. I hate it when our fans don't give players the benefit of the doubt and judge them on so little playing time.
Lambert09 Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 personally dont think he got enough game time for people to claim he wasnt good enough in the prem. Given the time to adapt I think we would have flourished with him and Mahrez on the wings, so terrifying for defenders. I wonder how much he would cost now?

I made a load of petrol bombs & bought a new balaclava and everything.
Filbert_Ross Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 Pearson didn't seem to take kindly to that interview in France calling us a stepping stone if I remember right.
pazzerfox Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 If he had a yard more pace he could be a top top player for sure.
Fox92 Posted 21 January 2017 Posted 21 January 2017 But it's "only the Championship" am I right??? That's what certain people use about other players in that division on here. He never looked good enough when he featured for us in the PL. Everybody agreed at the time. He misses pace. When we switched and started winning games he was never going to get back in. He was miles behind Mahrez. I hope Brighton come up. Well run club, good manager and play nice football. Lets see how good he is in this division then.

He left us to spend time with his ill dad. Who sadly passed away. Now he's back with unfinished business. Fair play to the lad. I'd have him back in a heartbeat.

What did he do in our promotion season, scored a few goals but his performance levels weren't the same as in his first season, Mahrez came in and rightfully took his place. Like I said even in our promotion season cracks started to appear, kept giving the ball away in silly areas, trying to do it all on his own thinking he was Messi. Come Premier League of the games he played he looked out of his depth a bit, did better defensive work than going forward really, it was ok to a certain extent but of course you expect him to deliver going forward but he didn't do that. Exceptional first season but from then on I never understood the love for him, his form dipped, he was rightfully dropped then he was rightfully sold.
