AyewJoking Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 so you disagree? fair enough, i respect your opinion. would you sell if we definitely had a replacement lined up or do you not want to sell him at all?
WiFoxes Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 To sell Slimani right now I hope we'd absolutely have to be blown away with an offer. A few mil more than we paid 5 months ago is not that. Give him more time and he'll come good.

WiFoxes Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Just now, Royston. said: only if the team come good, big "if" at the moment. Right but we'd have literally one week to replace him. I don't believe not replacing him is an option.
MPH Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Can you imagine if we had sold vardy after 6 months?

Oh you were being serious?! I genuinely thought you were being sarcastic because of the bit about him maybe playing a key part in helping us survive and maybe being great for us for next 3 years...but Why would we sell a player of his pedigree after just 5 months, when we have Vardy who is woefully out of form and confidence, Okazaki who just doesn't score many and Ulloa who has handed in a transfer request and hardly prolific either. All to save some money (£10-15 million at most) on his transfer fee, if we do get relegated? Madness if you ask me. Never understand why people are so bothered about money. We have a billionaire Chairman and assets such as Mahrez who will probably go in the summer for 30-40 Million. Also, the incredible riches of being in the Premier League itself and Champions League money coming from this year. We should be adding to this squad, not selling and certainly not selling a guy who has such a good goal scoring record as his. If the team plays well, he could score some vital goals for us. Is your motivation simply to save a bit of money? We would be losing a hell of a lot more if we get relegated so I see getting rid of our top goalscorer when we are in a relegation battle, as a bit hard to understand.

dbtcity Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Maybe Ranieri has realised he can't play vardy and slimani up top together as they both want to be on the last man, IF we sign Ramirez I'd imagine it would be for that number 10 role meaning we just play with 1 out and out striker.... maybe this has legs... that being said I'd sooner have Slimani up top over OKs weekly front page boy vardy

I think this is just China chucking bids in for whoever. We don't need the money and not sure Slimani would want to leave after only 5 months in the biggest league in the world. They can have Ulloa for the same price though
sphericalfox Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Christ this thread. What if we did receive a big offer from China and unexpectedly accepted it. Then Slim, says, no thanks, China's not for me. We'd then have another striker pissed off, but for different reasons. Just what we need.
LinekersApples Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 I think he'll come good. Especially in in our new front 8 formation we appear to be heading towards
Fox 4 Life Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 No way, he is a very good player that scores goals, we just need to get some decent service for him. Martinez is past it, being heavily linked with besiktas anyway. If we sell slim there is no way we have enough time to bring a replacement in. The China offer will still be there in the summer, let's see where we are then!
lgfualol Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 We'll go down if we sell him. Ulloa - clearly doesn't want to be here Vardy - only capable of playing one way, a way that has barely worked all season Okazaki - can run around, but offers as much goal threat as Zieler. Musa - could be great but like Vardy, needs space otherwise useless.
Hitesh Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 I would put a bet on Ulloa or his agents making up this runour. They will force us to make a new contract offer just in case we can't replace Slim and then when the move doesn't happen the agents and Ulloa are laughing all the way to the bank.
Innovindil Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Can't we just offer them ulloa for half the price? Only reason he's still here is because we haven't had a decent offer for him.
Ric Flair Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Vardy has been horrifying this season and it's easier for us to get crosses in to Slimani than it is for us to unlock deep defenses for Vardy to run on to. He's had less than 10 chances all season.

Not even 5 million profit and we then need to replace him inside a week or have to rely on a woefully out of form Vardy, or Okazaki who doesn't really score goals and Ulloa who put in a transfer request. Would be a crazy decision. He has been here 5 months! We need him for the battle ahead. Can't risk letting him go to make a mere 5million profit

If we can sell for more than we paid then it is a brilliant deal. Sell, sell, sell.
Finnegan Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 It doesn't matter if you play Rondon, Slimani or Martinez. None of the above are going to be prolific the way we're playing. At least tactically Slimani fits in more than those others with his work rate.
brookfox Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 That'll be Martinez who is on a reported £400-500k a week. Hope Rudkin buys a "Negotiating for Dummies" book at the airport to read on the flight over there.

I don't think any players are worth their current fees, but it is the market we are in now and you have to pay upwards of 20 million for anyone half decent and Slimani is definitely that. His goal scoring record is incredible. I don't think our team could have played much worse all season, yet he has still managed 6 goals from 16 appearances. If the team start playing better, then he will surely score a load of goals for us. Why is everyone so concerned with money all of a sudden anyway? We have a billionaire owner who is footing the bill and seems more than happy to keep spending too. Staying in the Premier League is much more important than making small profits on players, that the owners probably make in a day of business anyway. Keep him or put us at even more risk of relegation. Crazy decision to sell.
