Slimani to China?

We could actually buy about four decent centre-backs with that money and would still have a good attacking threat up front (provided Ulloa and Okazaki are staying).

What would it say about our summer recruitment if this happened. Out of our six summer signings by January one of them hasn't played a minute if premier league football and two of them would have been sold.

The jury is still out on Slimani so i'm not judging him  but if you get players in and they aren't a success and still make a profit on them six months later then that's great business.

Atletico Madrid bought Martinez who was prolific at Porto, he flopped and they sold him to China soon after for a small profit. Great business.

I think if we kept the ball better and therefore spent more time higher up the pitch, we'd see the best of Slimani. I understand what you mean, especially what you said earlier in terms of Slimami and Vardy. It's a concern I had when we signed Slimami 'can we really have two main strikers?'. It's why I liked the idea if Deeney, because his role would be predominantly to get the best out of Vardy. Though he certainly isn't worth what we would have had to pay.

Get rid of him, offer West Brom 20 million + Ulloa for Rondon.

As much as I rate Rondon and think this would be good I doubt WBA would even consider it, look how stubborn they were with Berahino.

Rondon has scored 127 goals in 350 career appearances

Slimani has scored 106 goals in 247 career appearances

I don't see why he has so many fans against him already. The team around him are playing woefully!

He will come good, as long as the team improves around him.

I agree. As a goalscorer Slimani is good. Most of the chances that have come his way, he's scored. His all round game could improve but if we create decent chances he'll score.

Shipping players off every 6 months because they aren't an instant success would not be the greatest strategy. Some take time to adapt and then their value can sky rocket.

China has added a new dimension though, although they don't seem so much to be paying crazy amounts in transfer fees, but more so unsettling the players with huge wage offers and letting them and the agent do the rest!

I'm not against Slimani, just think Rondon would compliment Vardy more.

Rondon plays as a lone striker with 3 behind with WBA, similar to Chelsea and Costa etc. Not sure how he would do as a front two.

I do agree though, Vardy and Slimani haven't really worked, and if it continues, I can see us playing a similar system to the one above, with Slimani the focal point and Vardy benched.

Vardy and Slimani can't play together and if Slimani left Vardy would be the main man again.

Why do people keep insisting on this? Nobody is playing well together but Vardy and Slimani showed they can be a lethal pairing based on their performances against Man City.

This is not a distraction I want to see right now. In the summer, I'd snap your hand off for €40M for Slimani as I value him at half that, but 6 days before the window closes with the club in shambles we need to hold onto him.

I'm still convinced we can get a lot more from Slimani than we have done, but that's an absolutely mental amount of money for the bloke considering I think we overpaid ourselves.

Slimani's a goalscorer. His problem is that's all he is. Similar to Benteke I guess. Put the ball in the right areas and he'll thrive. Otherwise there's no point having him really.

What do other strikers do?

Slimani seems to be able to hold the ball up well and bring others into play, as well as win headers and flick-ons.

What would be the point in signing Rondon, he'd come here and be exactly the same as Slimani, a talented and strong goalscoring target man left completely isolated in a defensive and frankly shit team.

slimani hasnt been value for money in the admittedly short time he's been here. its not his fault because his team mates/manager  have been shít.

this would be an ideal time to sell and forget the whole deal ever happened. we'd make a profit too!

mahrez may be pissed but whats he gonna do, play more crap than he has already?

dont replace him. we have numerous options already here.

i know it could turn out that slimani goes on to play a key part in keeping us up and go on to be a brilliant player for us in the next few years but its more likely we wont sort our selves out and we wont get to see the best of slimani. he'll leave for much less if we get relegated.
