He is clinical when given decent service. Vardy needs to get his head down focus on football instead of ok magazine. I would of sold him in the summer for £30m. Won't get that again
STUHILL Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Why do people assume we need to sell before we can buy? I haven't heard Claudio or any ITK's say anything about us working under any kind of constraints. We have ambitious billionaire owners, huge TV money and sponsorship deals and were 20th on 2016's Rich list due to last year's success. We don't need £34 million. We can buy defenders now without having to sell anyone. Staying in the Premier League is far more important and financially rewarding. People seem to think we need to be wheeling and dealing in this window. We really don't. What good to us is £34 million if we are a striker down and having to rely on Vardy who has looked completely out of sorts or Okazaki who will never score many and Ulloa who wants to leave and also has never been prolific. This guy throughout his career has scored a goal nearly every 2 games. I'm shocked so many want rid after just 5 months and him playing in one of the most underperforming teams in the league but still managing to have more impact than any other of our strikers. We need to hold on to him. Spend 10million on Ramirez. Another 15-20million on a CB and RB and I bet the owners wouldn't even batter an eyelid because these are the costs of the Premier League these days and they are supplemented by mega rich owners, huge TV money and sponsorship deals. People need to stop thinking of transfer fees and wages of 3 years ago and recognise the bar has moved. Jeffrey Schlupp who wasn't even making the Leicester City bench, just sold for £12.5 million and probably won't even be a starter for Palace! Don't be seduced by a 40m EURO bid.. see the bigger picture of us not needing to sell to buy, and also the risk of losing a prolific goal scorer, when we are in a relegation fight in a league that took us 10 years to get to!

Nah, not a trait and type of attitude I look for myself. But he cares. Do we want a team of Wes Morgan's then who concedes an own goal and just appears if he's realised he had a doctors appointment 15 minutes ago? Or Drinkwater's who just swear under their breath and attempt to smash opposition players rather than win the ball ? Or just Vardy who looks completely devoid of any emotion? Schmeichel absolutely does the same as Slim but doesn't get anywhere near the same stick.
ScouseFox Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 we appear to have just bought anyone we can in the summer to sell for a bit of profit at the next available opportunity even if we didn't really want them. we are the football club version of viagogo.

If Ulloa would have put in some of the performances Slimani had, he'd have been crucified. Just because he cost £28m everyone makes excuses. He looks bloody awful apart from when a cross lands on his head in the 6 yard box. That aint enough to justify his price tag or keeping him if we can get rid. Ulloa has had long spells of being criticised. Particularly when in the middle of the first season in the PL when he wasn't scoring.
LCFC hub Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 We have to keep hold of him. Only striker that's had some kind of form this season

tsintskaro Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 not fan of slimani, but Vardy,Ulloa and Okazaki are useless team needs goalscorer if he is not that good as we thought
simon789us Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 People keep banging on about slims price tag if I'm not mistaken sporting gave us the price and club paid it nothing to do with the player he's playing in a poor side at the min give him chances and he will score same with vardy musa etc at the minute we don't create anything even Messi would struggle lets get back to how we were playing last season then see how they go
maddog Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 I really like Slimani I think he's a decent player who will be stronger next season after one year in the Prem. I also feel he's our best hope of bagging key goals in the Sevilla tie and getting to the quarter finals. At the moment there is just no way Vardy/Shinji/Musa/Ulloa are going to fire us up the league. I rate Slimani as much more threatening than all four. I do not believe this will happen.

Some take time to adapt and then their value can sky rocket. China has added a new dimension though, although they don't seem so much to be paying crazy amounts in transfer fees, but more so unsettling the players with huge wage offers and letting them and the agent do the rest!

And the second point is bollocks too, are you telling me his goal against West Ham just 'landed on his head' , it was a quality header. And we have been doing nowhere near enough to play to these strengths. Vardy looks awful without decent service to him in behind the defence as well. We'll ignore the open goal header he missed earlier on in the West Ham game yeah? His goal in that game was decent but no better than Ulloa's goal against Stoke. He's no better than Ulloa. Sell.

Gerard Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 I'm ambivalent whether Slimani should be sold for that money but what I will say is Ranieri has seen him close up for six months and how he works with the other strikers and players. If the offer is true it's great to be able to decide to cash in or not now he has all this extra information from watching him the last six months.
Dr The Singh Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Mahrez will be well pissed off, if we sell him
lifted*fox Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 I'd be bitching and moaning if I was Slimani as well. My mate Mahrez told me 'come to this club - we play good, fast, flowing football, have a good spirit and the fans are loud!' Then I rock up and get **** all service from a stagnant, boring team who can't pass for shit and the fans are pretty quiet (rightly so, not much to sing about right now). Slimani isn't a shit player - he's a good player who's been thrown into a shit team and he is angry because it's not what he was told it would be - rightly so. Not being utilised to his strengths - we barely ever get up the pitch far enough to get a decent cross whipped in for him and when we finally do get up there Ranieri has taken off any player capable of putting a ball into the ****ing box. I'd be ****ing furious as well and most likely shouting at people and waving my arms about too.
katieakita Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 What is this actually based on just some tweet from an Italian Journo?

Not sure where you got lazy either. He is anything but. Would you call Vardy a lazy ****, despite him covering the least ground out of all our strikers? This season? Yes, very. As for the others who have picked up on my points you ignored this key point. The things I've said about him aren't just playing for us, I watched him playing Algeria aswell, it's just him, period. But if that's what makes you a good footballer, showing passion...what went wrong for me?!!!

It was the first thing they'd mention once they established you were a Leicester fan. They genuinely feared his quality, alongside that insane record he has against them. There was almost a little respect there for him. Interestingly one Porto fan mentioned they had a signed a player from Belgium with similar physique and attributes in attempt to copy Slimani's success in Portugal but he'd been rubbish.

brucey Posted 25 January 2017 Posted 25 January 2017 Just crunched some numbers PL with Slim: W4 D3 L6 (1.15 points/game) PL without Slim: W1 D3 L5 (0.67 points/game) All comps with Slim: W7 D3 L6 All comps without Slim: W3 D4 L8 Some people here are quite keen to see us get relegated then
