May aswell lock this up, no way the sell to us if we are cock blocking them on the Ulloa deal

true enough but a release clause is a release clause

Kone has a release clause of £18 million, so surely that means he can speak to anyone including us

Is Kone actually any good? 18 Million good?? He is playing in the worst team in the League and cost £5million 1 year ago.

Not paid much attention to him. Anyone been impressed by him over the last year?

Kone will go to the highest wage bidder!!  At £18million, he is a typical January signing, a tad expensive, but clubs like us do need defensive cover and are willing to pay!

I'm thinking Palace will get him!

A lot said he was a major part of their survival and apparently they only looked capable of survival once he'd arrived :)

If he improves on what we have than the question is how much do we value that? 27 years old, a good CB is a rarity these days and I think with a good unit around him he would be a solid CB. Pair him alongside Huth and see what happens.

Would prefer both tbh lol, whole new back line :revenge:

It's what needed, especially if Wague has been brought in to be a RB. I wish we would sign a genuine RB though who could actually offer something in attack, with overlaps and decent crosses. Claudio seems set on these RB/CB hybrids!

Big Sam has never got a club relegated, CP's defense is just a leaky as ours, so he will be pushing to get the players he believes he needs at any cost!!!   Were not too far off, if Morgan or Huth were injured, we would be paying massively over the odds also!

To me it's so clear, we have 2 out of form CBs and 1 unhappy Striker. Cash and swap deal for Kone than go for Sakho with cash saved from swap deal. All be under 30m which was our target, we than have a younger and potentially better back 2 to blood into the squad.

No brainer isn't it really, we've got something they want, accept their bid for Ulloa on the terms they'll reject palace and accept our new improved Rudkin special offer of 13.5m

If we truly want Kone, we would be MAD not to include an unhappy striker  that they want who has refused to play for us again into the deal to offset some costs...

Then again, this is Leicester City...

Hoping Moyes has got the crayons out trying to explain this to Rudkin.

Moyes: You have Ulloa who we want. We have Kone which you want, you give us Ulloa + £xm and the deal is done.

Rudkin: £5m cash for Kone only!

Moyes:

Only £18m cash will meet the clause.... if they DON'T want to lose him, then it's no good.

Would have to be two separate deals, we get their cash then bid the full amount, to make sure they have no say in it.

We are still a striker down though and an important one, as with Slimani injured, we have no striker who can hold the ball up or win headers. Claudio knows this and it is why he says that Ulloa is not leaving.

I think if we want Kone, we just trigger the buy out clause. If we think that is wel overpriced, then we offer 18m for Sakho or we pay the 13 million to get Mbodji.

I think any deal, where we end up a striker down, is not the best deal for us, not to mention we are strengthening a rival, when we don't need to. We may as well pay the release clause and weaken them.

True, pay the release clause, get him snapped up and tell Sunderland he's yours for 10m.

He's gone out in public telling everyone he won't play for us.... so we're a striker down already. Why not make a bit of cash on him and use him to bargain a desirable solution to a bigger problem we have which is leaking goals.
