Ric Flair Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 As the title says, the only good to come from this disgrace is not having to read the players, management, fans and media chunter on and on about the distraction of the Champions League. Well we've got worse since the break and I don't see any of the above talking about that. Roll on end of Feb, perhaps we'll at least score a few goals then. Might even pick up the odd win.
Koke Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Since qualifying for the last 16 back in November we've won 2 league games (Man City and West Ham). Some players and people will trot out these same shit exudes when we lose league games from now till after Sevilla.
Ian Nacho Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I was thinking this last night and I think the Champions League was a good distraction from the league which gave us confidence but now we've got no confidence whatsoever.
stripeyfox Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Imagine the fixture pile up next season when we win the CL and get relegated....
Mike Oxlong Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 At the moment our best chance of scoring v Seville is if they sign Darren Bent on loan.
RonnieTodger Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I can't even be arsed with the Champions League anymore. I won't have to be soon anyway.
Kitchandro Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 It's always been a terrible excuse. No science will back up their claims and you can't be 'distracted' by it when you're playing the matches on different days. Footballers love an excuse.
norwichfox Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I'm totally convinced that we are performing badly because we can only hire one open topped bus and we'll need that to parade the CL trophy......get Vicky Park booked now
Babylon Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 It was bull shit from the start, just like blaming it all on Kante not being here. There is no one single problem, but a feck load of problems that have snow balled into a right old shit storm.

He will hit his lowest ebb being booed off (with even Jeff Schlupp watching on his tv and laughing at him) before a Rocky style montage sees him score the goal to keep us up before a hat trick in the CL Final... Er, probably....

Er, probably.... More likely to see the ending with Vardy scratching round the skips at the back of Greggs looking for sausage rolls after his wife completely frittered away all his money getting her beef curtains diamond encrusted......
foxy boxing Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 he excuses will be our league performances are suffering because we are still in the f.a. cup (just)

Yeah, that could be the "alternative ending" on the DVD
NotTheMarketLeader Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 In response to the OP. Yes it was clear to see that was a bullshit smokescreen at the time.

foxile5 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 It's good of the players to tarnish the Champions League campaign by refusing to turn up in the League. It is pretty clear on the performances that they are only putting effort into the prestigious CL, and letting the league suffer as result of their grievances with CR. Absolute shower, they are.
Manwell Pablo Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 Just out of interest have the management or Players ever used the CL as an excuse, for anything? I have absolutely no recollection of Claudio or any of the playing staff blaming a defeat on the CL?........They've answered questions directly put to them regarding the need for a deeper squad because of the competition but I do not remember our form being blamed on CL football.....we've had our best results around CL match days. Fans and Media I agree have been all over it.
Fox92 Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 We'll be seen off completely when Sevilla take a 5-0 first leg lead.
CKB Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 It was all bullshit! Just like the poor "the players don't know how to play other formations" excuse Most of these "players" were fine during the great escape! It's just simply a lack of effort/desire, arrogance from the players and mistakes from Ranieri that have us in this mess Oh and ineptness off the field doesn't help either!
Dan Posted 1 February 2017 Posted 1 February 2017 I said this back at the time but I actually think the Champions League stopping could hurt us more than help us. The Champions League had been quite a positive escapism from a garbage league campaign and it was giving us some midweek morale boost. This obsession with fatigue is just another excuse for failure, they don't have the same problems in other countries. Our record after CL games this season was actually not bad at all. It was before that was terrible.

It was before that was terrible. I've just had a look at this and it's quite incredible. In our 6 games following Champions League games, we picked up 11 points. In our 17 games NOT following Champions League games, we have picked up 10 points. There you have it in black & white. The most futile excuse of the lot.
