Huth, Wes and Simpson AKA the hoof trinity™. Why Can't Claudio stop them from chipping aimless balls?

We can all see that this endless pointless chipped percentage balls from our hoof trinity up to our strikers doesn't work. I just can't understand why Claudio either can't see it or doesn't feel the need to sort this out. The passes are neither into space or over the top of the defence so usually mean Vardy or Slimmo are facing back towards their own goal when trying to head or receive it and most of the time we lose possession.

Our centre backs and Simmo are encouraged to have the ball by the opposition as they know that if they stand off them the ball will be chipped up and given back like it was today. (Quite why Drinky kept feeding the hoof trinity rather than taking responsibility God only knows.) If only we had a ball playing centre back that was trusted at this level (Benny clearly isn't by our management team) and a manager who would tell them to stop fkin hoofing it.

It is quite obvious that teams have sussed this and opposing crowds have too.  Embarrassing whenever one of these 3 get the ball to hear cries of 'hoof' from te opposition fans.

Every time they got it, Swansea just held the space in midfield and let them twat it long.

Its so embarrassing to watch at the minute it really is.

Quite simply they are unbelievably limited footballers. There sole job is to stop, when they think they lose concentration and make poor decisions. Playing the ball long, aimed or aimless is as good as it gets. It may not stop goals but my god having defenders who are relatively competent on the ball and not afraid to knock it between them and others makes such a difference. I believe this is our biggest problem and no of course can do little about it.

How refreshing was it vs Derby to see no hoof ball.

Back to usual today. Vardy spends more time jumping than anything else today.

Never seen anything like it. Pulis teams get criticised but they have big players to play that way.

God we're shit

Its because out of the 3 players you mention, none can actually pass.

The worst of the 3 is Simpson. Constantly smashes the ball down the line or off the pitch. At one point today, he seemingly refused to pull out wide to receive the ball from the keeper.

I'm not sure if we played that way against Derby because of the players or because Derby allowed us to play that way.

To be fair, Drinkwater would drop off to receive, and then give straight back to them as Swansea players pressed.  He wouldn't move after playing a pass (pass and move, most basic school kid instruction for all new footballers) so they had no other outlet than to hoof a lot of the time.  There were a lot of times I saw Ndidi free but they would ignore him.

King and Ndidi for me next weekend.

Pretty much this. Now they can't even stop goals. Sick of the three, really.

This is absolutely true but can't detract from the abject "quality" of the passing from those 3, Simpson especially.

The 3 of them have literally no idea how to play the ball forwards on the deck.

Becasue we have no midfield and they run out of options. It's obvious isn't it and doesn't require over analysis.

This is true. What I saw today was each of them looking to feet, when that didn't happen they could only look down the line. I actually think Simpson played okay today, unfortunately his one error lead to their second (out of position)

Pretty sure they have some brain damage from all the years of heading the ball. A bit like Albrighton, Vardy, etc they are just not intelligent footballers lacking any technical quality.

Drinkwater, etc run away from the ball too. Pretty sure half our players lay awake all night paralysed by the thought of touching the ball.

First half I think we were making a conscious effort not to hoof. Unfortunately they're just so unbelievably limited that they take 2 or 3 more touches than necessary and by the time  they're ready any pass that was on is either cut off or more difficult than it was. It all has a knock on effect from them being slow and technically poor.

Actually thought Simpson defended pretty well today but his 'distribution' was appalling. Wes and Huth were absolute atrocious in just about every respect today. Huth in particular is performing dismally at the moment.

Because NOBODY shows for the ball.

The entire team is absolutely scared stiff of having the ball.

I think today, barring an injury to Amartey, has to be Danny Simpsons last game for the club.

Like with RDL last season, there is a moment when you have to look and say you are no longer good enough for what we need.

There was point today when Simpson passed a ball to Mahrez no more than 5 yards and he chipped it up, I couldn't believe it, Mahrez then takes an extra second to bring the ball down and gets tackled.

You missed him going ballistic at them a couple of weeks ago for hoofing? It's clear he's not told them to play this way - they've just got no movement ahead of them and have to resort to it. I'd rather if we're stuck at that playing Slim or punting it into play and trying to gain territory through throw-ins than launch it to the head of a short bloke like Vardy; but it's not that they're being told by the manager to keep it up.

Absolutely agree.  That was my point about ignoring Ndidi, and if Drinky et al, know how terrible they are on the ball, why keep giving it to them?  You can see Huth actually thinking what to do when the ball goes near him.

No movement up front is also awful, how many times must the CMs look up, and think, "where the hell is Mahrez? Oh disappeared behind those two oppo defenders".

That's the quandary behind Simpson.  He actually is probably our best defender, just so poor on the ball.  I think he is a better RB than Amartey, and maybe if he had Benny or Amartey next to him, who can pass, he could give it back to them.

If we stay up, we need to get a quality RB that can play football.  Heck, even if we don't, we need one.  The Huddersfield guy would be a good shout (unless we got real quality like Arias from PSV, or Pekarik from Berlin).

Doc - that tells me they are defying him.  It's in his control to drop players that don't listen to him.  If they aren't there are serious issues....
