GaelicFox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 It seems Claudio cannot motivate them, it seems the owner cannot motivate them and is seems cash can't motivate them (rumours of 40% pay cut relegation clauses in contracts) so what can motivate this group of players ? Can the eternal question of which memory will live longest  • legends for winning the league • Chumps for being dumped out of the league 12 months later  if we are relegated , and it looks a fairly sure thing right now , how will you view these players ? Legends or ChumpsÂ
stripeyfox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I can handle relegation. I even thought relegation was almost inevitable, but just not so soon! Â The most sad thing about the situation is that last season will stand for all time as an astonishing achievement, perhaps the greatest ever in team sport. But if we go down, it will be forever gift wrapped in our immediate relegation 12 months later. Â
adejo92 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 The 'Team of 15/16 season' will always be legendary' but take players individually they are useless cnuts

But if we go down, it will be forever gift wrapped in our immediate relegation 12 months later.  More or less the way I feel  We all knew this season would be tough, but what's been seen on and off the pitch is just embarrassing. This club in the space of 9 months has gone back 10 years when it should've been going forward  I wasn't expecting us to become the next big thing, I was just expecting more good than bad. A forward plan, a level of consistency, a vision. But what we got were so many mistakes on and off the field that we are now faced with this  This may not go down to well but it's not just Ranieri's fault. The board have to take some blame for basically being naive and creating utter tossers as players. Yes Ranieri has made tons of mistakes and I do believe he isn't the man to sort it out anymore BUT this mess is so deep rooted that if a change happened I'm still not sure it would save us  We could be looking at a total rebuild job once again. Getting out certain players and getting in hungry, motivated, committed players  Sounds familiar don't it.....
Guest Danny Clender Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Legends, always. That said, the majority need new badges on their shirts from August 17 onwards.Â
Bayfox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I was just thinking to myself.  This set of players won the premier league and 18 months later could be turning out in the championship.  That's ****ing embarrassing. For them. Where's the professional pride.
Livid Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 The playing side of the club always seemed to be so well organised. The facilities are still in place but it has all gone totally to pot. Â Ranieri will carry the can but there have been some horrendous decisions regarding pre-season, recruitment, putting the CL above the PL.
Spudulike Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 These have been the most tumultuous 3 consecutive seasons in the clubs history.... and we've lived through them. This will be spoken about for generations to come.
CKB Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 As for what the OP said legends or chumps? Â Legend is branded about way to much but what they did put them in that bracket even for me! But right now they aren't chumps, they aren't legends, they are just a bunch of players that have sold out
Crinklyfox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Angels with dirty faces. Â I suspect their legacy would be that they will be seen as a group that did the impossible then let success go to their heads and couldn't be bothered thereafter. Â They will be forever tainted.

I agree their legacy in the game will be forever tarnished as going from Champions to the Championship.  I don't know if that thought is as the back of their mind or they just don't give a damn.

Knocking around the Midlands in lower leagues for years, his pinnacle has been infinitely exceeded with a fat contract to ponder over for a few years.Â
Matt Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 It's Kante's legacy. Â One man carried these chumps. Â Certainly looks that way, how embarrassing for these players.
Buce Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 No longer legends to me. Â They have sullied last seasons achievements to such an extent that I feel nothing but contempt.

From pre season too recruitment.  But the players have let themselves and the club including the fans, manager and owners who tried to look after them down. Big time and whilst I'll always have the memories of last season.  Other than a day out at Wembley and the trips abroad this season has been up there with some of the worst football and effort I have seen and we have watched some shit over the years.
Fox92 Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 I defended them all summer and said they were legends. I am retracting that now. There is no desire at all.  One World Class player (Kante) carried this bunch. They are embarrassing and getting relegated after winning the league will top it all off.  Players such as Izzet, Lennon, Grayson, Walsh etc would always give it 100%. It's sad but we don't have players like this anymore.Â
GaelicFox Posted 19 February 2017 Author Posted 19 February 2017 For me No player who has been so unprofessional in the way the majority have been this season can ever be considered a legend ... legends don't capitulate , they have  If we are relegated their 2015/16 medals will be made of fools gold and they will will always be embarrassed to  whip them out because everyone shown them will always say "very nice but didn't you get relegated the next year" , its a legacy of ultimate unprofessional failure  most will blow their contract cash and end up working in the Hospitality lounges hosting shite quizzes for fans being ripped off to eat shite food and sit on a padded seat ! And not even their bank balances will make up for the embarrassment of being relegated champions.  We the fans will always have May 2016 .... forever ,and we can take the pisstaking , because we are Leicester city ..: we will be fine  but those players will always have hollow medals and embarrassing memories of relegation while wearing gold badges of the Premier league winners  it's embarrassing and it always will be !    Â

ARTY_FOX Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Relegation would ruin the good memories they made last season for me.  Not because of relegation, but because of the manner in which they're taking us down. No effort, no fight and no pride. Â
HitchinFox Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 For the players to even begin to be considered "chumps", we need to be relegated. The last time I checked, we are still a Premier League club?  I know this has been a horrid season in the Prem – but there has been some high points too. Who'd ever thought, hand on heart, that they'd be able to hear the Champions League anthem at the KP?  I'm sorry to bring you bad news – supporting Leicester has never been, never is, and never will, be easy. You sign your heart away to this club and it is like acquiring a life-long membership to Alton Towers. It's never boring, it can make you fear for your life, even shit yourself, but you know you're going to have some laughs on the way.  What about we, the fans, keep trying and make sure we do our tiny little bit – support, sing, even use those feken clappers if we really have to – and try and help and ensure those champs on the pitch stay champs. We stay up and all is forgiven.  At least until next August, when the gates to the Leicester City theme park open up again.  Â

From pre season too recruitment     You look at all the teams that go down, there's one common thing and that's mismanagement.  Yes you get some teams that just couldn't cope (Burnley that year, etc) but the majority of clubs are so badly mismanaged they end up going down  Our board have showed major flaws this year, yes they are nice, friendly, etc and we owe them a hell of a lot BUT they have made mistakes aswell  There just doesn't seem to be any structure? Our set up in recruitment is piss poor, our academy may aswell not even exist. We just seem to have no plan going forward, just a "let's spend 16 mil on a Nigerian who scored a few goals in Russia" plan
Ted Maul Posted 19 February 2017 Posted 19 February 2017 Whatever happens this season, and however the players are viewed when he dust settles, I must say I have really enjoyed the amount of times I have seen 'pre madonna' written on here and social media. My favourite common error of the English language.

Not knowing the difference between lose and loose is my bug bear. But back on topic, these players aren't legends they've lost that title, sullied their good names through laziness and greed, letting riches go to their heads and have become inept at the job they are paid to do. Kante will remain a legend, in my eyes, and maybe if we get relegated and any of the title winning squad remain and take us back up again they then can have their legend status back, those who clear off at the end of this most abysmal season will for me never be legends.
