All that's keeping me going is that sequence of play from this game last season, where we played like Barcelona and Okazaki nearly finished off what would have been goal of the season.

Different attitude and maybe different tactics ...    He's picked a team he thinks can win ...     Give him a fookin chance !

Should have started with grey or even put Ulloa in the starting line up. This does not make sense IMO

Should deffo be gray and chillwell, could even argue benny starting...

I see Shakey has identified the perfect position for Musa....Row P seat 176

Good, he can make a start getting rid of the balls he's fired up there in the last few months.

It's about how they go about things and what they are asked to do. It has never been about them being bad players.

Yer it could be. They aren't really very good players. Some of them anyway.

Wes is now rubbish.

So when ranieri picks this team it's shocking but when shakespeare picks it it's back to basics?

Some serious double standards from some on here

Same players =/= same tactics

Really disappointed with the team selection, sends out the wrong message of who's running the show in my opinion. Just hope they can produce some sort of positive result tonight.

Agree ?

I can see what he's trying to do. Same team as last year he is just hoping Ndidi can put in a big performance tonight.

Disappointed for Gray though! Arguably our most consistent player of late.

I've lost a lot of hope for tonight seeing that lineup. Please play like last year boys, please!

We're a football club, with average players, that did the impossible last season based on heart and what in effect was simple basic, one dimensional tactics.

Hopefully we'll see a similar performance tonight to that of last season.

and not a Garry Parker caretaker manager type result.

Carragher insisting the players are average and saying there was no link between the Great escape form and winning the league (despite it being league winning form). Without Claudio we had that run of results and held our nerve knowing there was no further margin for error and looked a far better side than we have this season. No one expected the league title but with only Cambiasso absent (and Kante coming in) the foundations were well and truly laid for a good season.

We've got a 25 man squad. Unless the transfer window was secretly opened just for us and I missed all the incoming players, what did you expect?

Anyway, honestly if that was a team put out by Ranieri I'd be livid, so I'm going to treat shakey the same, poor team selection.

Hope his tactics are the big difference.

We will see that is for sure, we know the tactics that worked with this side last season so let's hope it is back to that high tempo pressing game.

Agreed, we'll see the difference today if there is any.

That line up can do the pressing game but it cant do ranieri's tactics so for me that signals the return of the pressing game...

I thought not playing Gray was a reason why we sacked Ranners?

Oh well, boys. Time to prove you were right!

goes to show the amount of nonsense most of these journos have spouted these past few days. wouldn't believe anything most of them say.
