Foxylady64 Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 Signing Roy might mean the fickle get what they deserve!

I think... someone like Hodgson short term to keep us up. Then go again for Mancini in the summer. I get what you're saying, but I think Shakey had them jumping through hoops the other night for him, and Hodgson would be like a dirge around the club. We thrive on energy! CS is worth a punt...at least for the next 3 games. Don't disagree on Mancini though bud.

Not sure there's a very discernible pattern... People we know were down to them... Sven, Pearson mk 2, Ranieri. But linked heavily and approached a far as we know. Hiddink, Hodgson and MON a few times in the past. The pattern there seems to be someone who has done it here before and someone who is a well known old manager at retirements door and media friendly. That's a list of managers and links to me that absolutely screams lack of thought. I said weeks ago that Hodgson would tick all of their boxes... and here we are with him strong favourite.

Ninety-three percent of Foxestalk voters against the bloke and the Sun suggests they'll get two fingers. Should please Shaky no end if it pans out!
ClaphamFox Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 Assuming no appointment is made before tomorrow's game, surely the performance and result against Hull will be critical? If the team plays well and wins, I can't believe the Thais would be so daft as to potentially ruin everything around by bringing in somebody new. Right?!
Gerard Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 If Shaky gets a win tomorrow with a good performance then he should be given until the end of the season. I wouldn't be totally against having Hodgson in the wings to come in until the end of the season if we were in a crisis and needed a more experienced man. Ideally though Shakey until the end of the season and then reassess from there when it would be easier to employ the man we want. The problem with employing at this time in the season is you're mainly looking at the unemployed list and the better managers are doing well at their current clubs and are less reluctant to leave.
HighPeakFox Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 I hope the club are making retention of Shakespeare a priority in all this.
Monsell1976 Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 The man that sucked the life out of the England team. Ended up a big failure, and we had to suffer some of the most boring football ever witnessed, so it's a no from me

Manwell Pablo Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 It should be Shakespeare for now and no decisions should be rushed, the ins and outs of it are up for debate but however he did it he resurrected the Premier League champions from the dead on Monday, and if he can continue to do that he should get the job full time. Plus you get the impression he is popular with the players and they want him to get the job, meaning they are going to play out of their skins trying to get it for him. So yes at this moment in time I'd be most unhappy if Woy was appointed.

Even though England had 100% win rate in qualification, it was the most boring uninspired games of football I can remember watching. After last season, I was shot down in flames for suggesting Defoe as a striker and told...Come on man, we're champions of England. Where's your ambition? And now some are happy with Hodgson He's just a glorified schoolteacher - those who can, do etc. .Couldn't play, doesn't seem like any kind of tactical genius or even to champion the logic of tactics, accommodates players where they shouldn't be, contrives to make decent performers look ordinary and presides over some awful football. If he's really the blueprint for what we want, why not pick an articulate fan off the street and get the job done a lot cheaper?

LittlethorpeFox Posted 3 March 2017 Posted 3 March 2017 I think the only reason Shakey hasn't got the job already is because of image. If he was smartly dressed with a modern professor look like Paul Clement/Pep/Martinez and didn't look like an overweight beaver in a tracksuit then i reckon he'd have signed a 3 year contract already!!

I'm not sure your hypothetical question really fits here... But in a way it does emphasise his importance to this set of players.

Some talk about us needing wholesale changes in the summer but I'd prefer evolution to revolution, especially the way we've been recruiting this last nine months or so, Ndidi excepted. .

I suspect we largely agree.
