TheMightySystem Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Apologies for tempting fate here but just wondering about peoples opinions on how to use the squad if we are safe with games remaining. Would people want to keep the best 11 to try and get as many points as possible or would people want to risk losing some points to give players like Chilwell, Amartey (at cb), Kapustka, Bennalouane ect, a run out to see what they can do. Might help us knowing where we need to strengthen in the window. Say if Kapustka does well and with Lawrence coming back, do we need to buy a Okazaki backup? If Amartey and Bennalouane play well will Cb still be our biggest priority. Give Musa some games up top (dont shout at me) to see if he can cut it in the new team, if not then get rid? I stated last year that we should have used the Everton and Chelsea games to give Gray, Chilwell and Amartey game time to see if they can slot straight in. As we all know Amartey was forced into midfield this season when he wasn't ready and had only played at Rb and Rm in his limited game time before, maybe bringing a player in on loan in the summer would have made his transition easier? Of course we aren't safe yet and we could end up losing every remaining game this season but if we were to stay up with say 3 games to go what would people want to do in the remaining ones in regards to using the squad?
Webbo Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 I believe there's prize money per position in the league, so unless we're more than 3 points clear of the team below us, I can't see it happening.
StanSP Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 get as many points as possible and finish as high as possible. always best to keep momentum. Can accept it on the last day of the season but most other games, strongest squad possible to get the best possible result.
maddog Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 We have seen what can happen when 9 games of momentum is built and carried into a new season... Hello league title. I'd be looking to win every game with the first choice team, perhaps give the squad players a spot on the bench and more opportunities as sub.
AmarteyAndChill Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 OUT Wasliewski, Mendy,Musa,Slimani and Mahrez. LOAN-Barnes,Lawrence and Kapustka.

What would you say would be the ideal time to give a sub an opportunity? 2 goals up and 30 minutes to go? 1 goal up so we are still attacking and 15 minutes? If we are bringing Okazaki off at 60 minutes, bring slimani on at 1-0 up or Kapustka if 2 up. Something like this may be best for all parties, we can still keep the first team out and can have a 'stronger' or 'weaker' option on the bench depending on how the game is going.
waylander Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Finish the Season on a roll and give the other a go in a very busy pre season make sure we hit the ground running .
Guest WarehamFox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Go and commit our efforts to win the Champions League! Good season that will be.
davieG Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 The best thing we can do for next season is to have well thought out pre season not a money/name making one.

Kendal Fox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Get as many points as possible using the players most suited to being able to do that. Also, for as long we are in the Champions League, we'll surely need the momentum and cohesiveness of our best lineup in the league if we're to pull off something special there.
TheSomersetFox Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Try and win every game playing the best football we can, do that and players will consider us an attractive club to join again
Harry - LCFC Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 My attention will turn to the Champions League if we're still in it. If we're safe I'll start to see league games almost as friendlies for the main event.
sdb Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 I think we have to see what we can do at CB with the current squad as reinvestment is needed sooner or later. So starts for Benney and Amartey there. Chilwell deserves a couple of starts and we can't give up on Mendy, Musa or Kaputska without seeing more, especially now we're approaching games with a plan. Would love over to see all of the above mostly because it'll mean safety though!
matty98 Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Give some of the younger players a bit more game time, Amartey at CB and Kapustka behind Vardy.

I mean just have Benny/Kapustka/Mendy/Musa on the bench with a view to giving them 25 minutes in. Neither of those four have even made the bench in the last two games. So in some ways just them being on the bench is a chance of sorts

Guest Bob Hazels shorts Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Play your best side to win every game. There are other teams involved who would be pisssed off if we didn't take games seriously. Karma.
Foxxed Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Jumping the gun! Jumping the gun! I'm still counting the points until safety.
BoyJones Posted 5 March 2017 Posted 5 March 2017 Relax and have a few drinks. Don't worry about next season, it'll soon be here.
