Gray - considering future

Not sure what all the fuss is about .....he's a squad player with potential .....Shakey should not pander to him imo - personally not seen anything In his attitude or ability to learn that makes me believe he will be a top player.

Riyad glided  through the  match today and was a class above everyone on the pitch......

If he leaves we will need to buy as DG will not be the solution and I understand he could leave before the window closes if Riyad stays and it would not bother me one jot if DG left.

He has all the traits of a youngster who believes he is better than he is and fact he has not showed Shakey in training the attitude to force his way on for longer minutes....whereas Chilly has showed a super attitude .....peeps may not like it but Shakey knows how to manage this one and it will probably end with him moving on!

You missed the point. He's not going to take Albrighton or Mahrez place but when you lead 2-0 against a piss poor side, you should consider giving game time to those who usually don't play that much.

He should have been on much earlier today. I think what happened last week affected Shakey and he was afraid to change anything for fear of a repeat.AI guess he'll play on Tuesday. It's a big opportunity to show what he can offer, Not necessarily by a mazy run but by being committed like Albrighton, Offering support where needed and Showing for the ball in the right areas and making a few telling passes. not much for a 20-year-old to accomplish but then he is at a big Club where you're expected to deliver or someone else will get the opportunity. It's a lot for a young lad to deal with.

I am not understanding your logic, and the minutes he was on the pitch proved it. Albrighton work his socks off all game, and bringing him off would have been at detriment to the team. And mahrez had touches of brilliance throughout the game. Gray had 5 minutes at the end, failed to close any one down, didn't have any touches. I don't know what you or anyone is expecting to see when he is on the pitch but if it is either of what albrighton or mahrez displayed today then I'm afraid you are going to be very disappointed

Other than that through ball to Mahrez that would have likely been a goal had the referee not blown full time. Hmmm.

Agree, but he was never going to take off mahrez today, so that leaves albrighton, Shakespeare doesn't want to play grey and mahrez at the same time for obvious defensive reasons. So he couldn't have given grey 20min. Especially after subs costing us against arsenal he couldn't let that happen again, they were poor but imagine the crap that would have happened if he took off albrighton with 20 to go and they did get one back. The game suddenly wouldn't have looked so easy

as soon as we went 2-0 up Brighton pretty much gave up, Gray should have got 25-30 mins today, no reason not to.

@UpTheLeagueFox it doesn't matter how well he does on Tuesday, in what will probably be a completely different 11

yes he could, Gray plays off the front man for England U21 all the time and he scores and creates there

So you play him tree and bring him on instead of slim. What does that gain us, long term that's not what he's going to do for us and has not looked good enough for that, we put on slim because that's a position he is going to play for us. We can find him a position anywhere if we are that desperate to play him? Next time we are three up we can put him in goal

if you're going to use logic that dumb then why bother posting?

it gets him more minutes, keeps him happy and you see if thats an option we could look at more, especially as we don't know what the problem with Kelechoi's toe is yet

Fine that was over the top, but the point is still valid you can't shoe horn him in just to keep him happy, I'm not saying he can't play there but I would put a lot of money on the fact he won't. Plus yes you might please him but you then upset slim. And putting on slim kept the shape which his subs didn't do last Friday. I get your point but he's not the only one Desperate to play so he needs to Wait his turn in his position.

Slim could have come on for Vardy, given Vardy dropped into the Okazaki role when Slim came on that wouldn't have been an issue at all, we only used 2 subs so it wasn't a case of one or the other.

Keeping Gray happy to be patient is Shakespeare's job, giving him 20 mins at least against Brighton would have shown some faith in the lad and been a sign he will look to give him playing time when ever he can

Vardy didn't drop into Okazaki role at all,

I'm not here to argue but you are still trying to play him in a role that we are not going to use him in and after what happened last Friday that was not going to happen.

With the way Morgan went down holding his back and his movement after his last sub was probably kept back for a bit.

yes he did he was playing 10 yards deeper than Slimani when they had the ball, obviously when we went forward his pace made it look like he wasn't

This conversation just became completely pointless, you have a good evening, pleasure talking to you

I'm not convinced Gray could go to any club he actually wants to go to and get any more time than he will here.

which clubs are we talking about though? Pochettino would play him at Spurs, even from the bench he'd probably play more there than here, he's being linked to Bournemouth where he would start

He doesn't want to go to Bournemouth, I would guess. Doesn't seem to match the image I have in my head.

Tottenham - who does he play over/displace?

right away probably nobody but Potch has faith in young players and would give him plenty of chances to impress and take a place, look how much time people like Harry Winks get for them, who plays right wing for them anyway I can't remember?.

I could see him going to Bournemouth, they play decent style of football and he'd be nailed on to start, a year or 2 there move on to a bigger club

I can see the merit in your ideas, certainly.

It's kind of a catch-22 for the club at the moment. His value may never be higher here, TBH.

that's why not playing him for 20-30 mins against Brighton was a miss step in my opinion, it just calms things down, keeps him happier and also lets him develope more than 5 min cameo's he usually gets are

Totally agree with getting him more mins today. We were so comfortable today and CS could have done wonders for his squad management by giving Gray some more mins

I think a more experienced manager would have done it but that can't be helped

Could you imagine the meltdowns on here if he came on for Albrighton and we had ended up drawing 2-2.

With us looking for our first win of the season and the players still fresh, it would have been an unnecessary risk to bring on an attacking player.

Shakey has learnt from lastweek.
