Effortless control, skill and passing from the Algerian and affected play. The game passed demarai by sadly. Oh, I totally agree, he's nowhere near Mahrez's level. As I said he still needs to grow and mature but I definitely think we keep him.
Gerard Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 Gray has all the tools to reach the very top of the game, I feel he gets much too of a hard time on here. I'd be gutted if he left. Just think where the likes of Schmeichel, Drinkwater, Kante, Vardy and Mahrez were at at the same age. All nobodies in the game more or less.

But they also continued to learn their trade much lower down the football pyramid (Vardy was so far down he could barely see the pyramid). We're expecting Gray to learn on the job whilst replacing the former PFA player of the year. Schmeichel 150 odd appearances, Kante 120+, Mahrez 150 odd, only Vardy and Drinkwater had a similar amount to Gray and they still developed their game with us over two seasons in the Championship. The level we're aspiring towards and the level Gray currently is don't match.
the fox Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 he proved more than once that he is a better impact sub than a starter. he drifts in and out of games which is a big problem, the difference betwteen him and riyad is, when gray is on it, he looks dangeouros, but when riyad is on it, its game over. you can't replace an "inconsistent" player with a less effective "inconsistent one!
splinterdream Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 I think he needs to take Albrightons spot on games against the weaker sides if mahrez stays
Kinowe Soorie Posted 5 August 2017 Posted 5 August 2017 He needs to sort his attitude out. Don't think I've ever seen a young player at odds with the senior pro's as much as he does. There was a game last season, when he should have passed about 4/5 times and choose to shoot on each occasion. Mahrez was telling him as they walked off the pitch. Last night he was having tantrums when he didn't get the ball. He's like a mardy kid!

gurru991 Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 His play needs to determine his game time not his whining. He really hasn't done enough to demand that he starts every week.

I admire gray he is young, not afraid to take on anyone.....yes he makes mistakes yes he sometimes makes the wrong decision, but I don't think we should be hating on our own players who, if we nurture right will be amazing in a few years
jayfox26 Posted 6 August 2017 Posted 6 August 2017 I agree with most that Gray has a lot to learn and certainly is not currently a direct replacement for Mahrez but some people's poor opinions of him seem very harsh. He must have some talent otherwise he wouldn't be being linked with Spurs and Liverpool. I think he will develop into a top player and there is no reason he cant do that here. He needs to fight for his place and prove he can be as good as or better than other players fighting for the same position. I think we'd regret it if we sold him.
Blue ROI Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 Gray has the occasional moment but after 18 months or so I'm not fully convinced. Granted it cant be easy being the next future 'great English superstar' in the making but compared to Chilwell to an extent or N'Didi he's not made the same strides. I was disapointed how ineffective he was against Bournemouth when it was a chance people were crying out for. I'd wonder if hes the kind of player Pearson would have had much time for. I'd give him a chance to establish himself until the end of the year at least but then if nothing happens for him maybe look into a January transfer. The idea of him replacing Mahrez may not go according to plan I believe.
Jimmy Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 he got around 15 mins against Bournemouth in a game where everyone just wanted the season to be over, that wasn't giving him a chance, giving him a change is starting him for 5-10 games in a row and not subbing him until at least 70 mins have been played. if people are expecting him to skin half the other team, score a screamer and set up another 7 goals in 10 mins then he is never going to take one of these so called chances
Guest Col city fan Posted 7 August 2017 Posted 7 August 2017 I'd suggest that Lloyd Dyer has done far far more for Leicester City football club than Gray. Gray needs to start showing end product or he's gonna be the modern day version of Franz Carr.

I'd take Gray doing that, better than what his managing at the moment. Clough did say Franz was the best corner flag hitter he'd managed, which says a lot about his end product!
baldeagle Posted 17 August 2017 Posted 17 August 2017 i know some people on here are saying he doesnt have a bad attitude where's the proof . I hope you have seen the snap chat picture doing the rounds of him asleep during the monks blessing today . If that isn't a bad attitude I don't know what is . He's getting paid and representing the club at what you could say is a works function and he's asleep .
