Ric Flair Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Is anyone else pleasantly surprised by the length and depth Craig goes in to about various questions he's asked in the media? I'm not sure if it's media naivety but after having Pearson who deflected from almost everything and Ranieri who with his false English and comical nature, it's a refreshing change. Hes going in to a fair amount of detail about player performances, players value in our squad for next season and transfer targets and meetings etc. it just strikes me as an unusual style from a manager as most are guarded but fair play to him.
AylestoneRaider Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 I must admit I've been very impressed by Shakey's media performances. He's honest and speaks clearly without desperately trying to show off his knowledge. He doesn't come across as arrogant and egotistical either, which is a common trait in the modern manager! It's early days, but I think he's doing well in the media front!
BenTheFox Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 I love how he's dealt with the media. What I like even more is that even when we've won convincingly, he's always spoke about can be improved. I love that! He sets a high standard!
Guest Sharpe's Fox Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 He is an absolutely sound bloke but I still prefer Nige's "I don't give a toss" attitude.
Guest Danny Clender Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 So far he's been excellent in the Media, he will undoubtably start being linked with other clubs very soon. Its actually extremely patronising to assume he'll take the job.

murphy Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Well he did say that we didn't get the summer recruitment wrong. I suppose he has to say that but I wouldn't call that being very open. I love the bloke though. He has saved us from disaster and the shame of being relegated champions.
VLC86 Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Until he starts dishing out head butts or insults il give his media performance a 6/10. In all fairness he has done very well with the media so far and generally in most aspects of management. His biggest test will come if we lose a few early on next season but hopefully it wont come to that.
foxoffderby Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 I love Shakey and have complete faith in him he comes across very well. I think he's learnt a lot from CR and NP good and bad points and added value of his own. He should be made manager ASAP.
rn9013 Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 He's done really well so far in every aspect. But in fairness that will have been made easier by results. The real test will be when we have bad run of results.
mozartfox Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Zlowly zlowly he must concentrate.... but doing great so far.

Oh yes.
yorkie1999 Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 He comes across as a real nice down to earth bloke who says it how it is, doesn't think he's above everyone and obviously commands the respect of the players. He's shown he's tactically aware and I've always thought he is the man behind what we've achieved.
Stadt Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Shakey (and Nige) belong to the rare breed of articulate English ex players

I really hope he does go to Watford. Just to show all the experts that our title win wasn't ALL down to Claudio as they like to make out. Wouldn't want to see him struggle too much but there is no way Watford will make the top 6
foxfanazer Posted 17 May 2017 Posted 17 May 2017 Seems too normal to be a football manager. Comes across really well and down to earth
EnglishOxide Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 See how he does when we are in bad form and he is no longer caretaker but instead full time manager and the press are talking bollocks and spreading rumours about us. Will he take a 'f*** you all' approach and close shop like Nige? Or can he charm the journos and avoid negative press like Claudio? I think his best bet is to go with the latter and fill the spot left by tabloid favourite Harry Redknapp. Proper fackin English football manager, a real football man. I just can't see him being a ruthless arsehole in the mould of Nige, Fergie, etc.

Thracian Posted 18 May 2017 Posted 18 May 2017 His attitude is spot on. The media are an important part of the game. They thrive on information. Shakespeare is excellent. Just as he does with everyone else, he treats the media with respect, gives them material they can feed on and, as such, is likely to get proper respect in return. Pearson always seemed resentful of the media but Shakespeare seems to be a naturally humble and straightforward man who responds in a way that shows he understands they have a job to do and is quite happy to help. He's not flash or a verbal impressionist. He just seems to answer questions honestly rather than evasively, perhaps understanding that people who follow the club are quite understandably interested in what's going on. That doesn't mean he's indiscrete. Just helpful, co-operative and brilliant for our club,
