If we're signing another RB, that might point towards Shakey sticking with 4 at the back? As a backup to Simpson I'd be pretty happy with Debuchy.

We don't need a young RB we have Darnell Johnson, and I imagine he will push for the first team in 2 years time, Debuchy is a good player, and would provide adequate cover to Simpson.

Why we would play wing back in 3-2-3-2 or 5-3-2 as options.  Still need right and left sided defenders.

Think if we are targeting an Arsenal RB to be in competition with Simpson (rather than a direct upgrade) I'd prefer Carl Jenkinson.

Yeah but wing backs generally offer something going forward too. Not sure Debuchy is in the same mould as Albrighton for example

Would be a good short-term buy on a free. In terms of long-term options, this signing would give us more time to develop Darnell Johnson.

 

2 years ago he was on the verge of joining Man Utd, but Wenger blocked the transfer. They fell out & Wenger has let him rot ever since. He'll have something to prove & imo has the potential to take Simpsons spot if he can hit the ground running.
