Patrick Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Not a Premier League player at this point in his career, however I can see him having a similar career to Morgan, reaching his potential later on.
Foxxed Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 We already had a backup Moore. Couldn't keep both. Against UEFA rules.
Fox92 Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Did well for us but wasn't a Premier League regular at that point in his career. Might become one though, look at how long Morgan was playing at that level before becoming a Premier League player. And as a defender he'll have a great coach in Jaap Stam.
Vulpine Victor Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 He made the right decision to move and get a regular game. When he was dropped by Pearson he was playing better than Wes. It was a case of a manager playing someone he had bought before a home grown player. After being dropped he was never given any real chances to regain his position. However from what I have seen there are far better options available to us to improve our defense, we just have to be willing to spend some money, it should have been done last year!

TJB-fox Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Yes, absolutely the right decision for the club and Liam moore himself
fazzyfox Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 With hindsight one million was a low price, please tell me there's a sell on clause... At the time it was the right thing to do but at his age you never know, there may be another step up in performance and an increase in confidence and it sounds like that may have occurred. The Moore that I remember was often responsible for playing people onside or when you freeze frame a goal conceded he'd be nowhere near his man but he must have something about him to amass those u-21 caps and these current ratings

alanf0x Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Yes, not missed at all. If he wasn't from Leicester people would have forgotten about him by now!!
ParkerPen Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Going to another team permanently was the best thing for Moore, I don't believe that he would have improved as a player if he'd stayed here, loans or not - clearly needed a proper fresh start. now he'd be perhaps 3rd choice, but I don't believe he's better than Benny - just proves it was right for everyone that he moved on at the time.
chicagofox Posted 5 June 2017 Posted 5 June 2017 Yes we absolutely should have let Moore go.. All he has done at Reading is prove he is a Championship defender.
FoxSince88 Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 The academy staff converted him to centre back, he actually preferred playing centre mid/ Right midfield. He was such a good amount of money at a young age and got pissed off he wasn't playing. Left and he is playing every week.
Strokes Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 I liked Liam, he is a good lad but he needed to move for his own development. Some players are not suited to loans and need to feel wanted. I'm glad his career is moving in the right direction again but honestly he is still quite a bit behind what we need right now. It'd be interesting to see if he is ready to step up and perform consistently at this level, good luck to him.

We've not always shown ourselves to be the best finishing school for young players, especially for the provision of opportunity but also on the coaching side at times. It's why I believe we need two or three energised, committed and top quality coaches preferably specialist in their particular areas, skilled in seeing the flaws in potentially outstanding players and having the motivational/remedial/organisational skills to put them right.
Bayfox Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Not really watched him at Reading, but thought he did ok in our Championship season, maybe the step up to the top flight at the time was a bit much for a young lad in a struggling side, I'd guess that being a local lad brought it's own pressure as well, internally as well as external. Based on watching with my own eyes, I wouldn't have taken the Keane that played for us or Ben Mee, yet Keane now play's for England and Mee has carved some sort of top flight career out under old Gravel Throat as well, so maybe Liam can go there and do ok, and if he turns into the next Keane let's hope the lure of Leicester is enough to bring him back, but until we see him play in the top flight we just won't know if he has improved at all.
Lovejoy Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 All about game time week in and week out, Liam Moore wasn't ready for that with us and therefore had to move on.
Guest Col city fan Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 Yes we should..he's currently a decent Championship CB when we've not long won the Premiership. I'm surprised we're even having the debate now really. At the time he went, I thought it was a shame. With hindsight, it was the right move.
foxy boxing Posted 6 June 2017 Posted 6 June 2017 he was struggling when he was playing for us and having some bad games, maybe he needed more time in the Championship to galvanise his game and improve as a player. the Championship does seem his level but he may still keep improving but at the time he was here he was not performing as we and the club hoped!
